CALQL8R WMC 2017 Mix

I have a bona fide passion for mixing beats. I'm not genre-exclusive by any means.  I've been in the scene since the glory days of the 90's. I never had a real interest in mixing but, while living in Key West, FL, a good friend recognized untapped talent in me to which I was blind. Furthermore, she introduced me to the world of mixing music and I never looked back. Fast forward about 15 years later here in 2021 & I feel as though I am now at the point where I can potentially make a career out of it. While I spin all styles of music, I prefer electronic music including Florida Breakbeats, Miami Bass, Vocal Trance,  Anthem Trance, Epic/Uplifting Trance, Progressive Trance, Techno, Tech House, Tribal House, Tribal Tech House, Progressive House, Big Room House, Funky House, Deep/Soulful House, Disco House and Bass House/G-House. I'm sure I'm missing a few but you get the gist. Oh, and living in the ATL, I can't forget Hip Hop. I'm pretty sure that's a prerequisite for DJ's in this city.....to be able to spin Hip Hop. My influences include DJ Paul Santana of Tampa, who I consider a personal friend, DJ Kre-8, DJ Debbie D, Lange, Above & Beyond/Oceanlab, DJ Peter Worth, DJ Icey, Baby Anne, Suzy Solar, Armin Van Buuren, Dash Berlin, Markus Schulz, Carl Cox, Erick Morillo (RIP), Rabbit in the Moon (Monk, Confucius & Bunny). Jackal & Hyde, JimitheGenius, Merlyn, Stryke, Josh Wink, Sandra Collins and the list could go on and on. I currently have no plans to produce Electronic Music. I've just found that I have the ability to read a crowd and select the track that always seems to get them moving. Then again, I never expected to be a DJ either so I hesitate to completely rule anything out. Central Florida born & Raised. Growing up as a kid in Daytona  Beach, FL in the 1980's then a teenager in early 1990's, I was introduced to all different kinds of electronic beats. Daytona Beach was a Spring Break destination so hearing Miami Bass & Freestyle had me hooked at a young age. In 1997 I was a 16 yr old walking into rave clubs no problem in O-Town, Ybor, or bach home in Daytona going to Sol-Rays or 600N. & thus the introduction to Florida Breakz and different DJ's & Producer's. Back then we all know the struggle was real to find a dope cassette tape recording of a live DJ set from a local artist from Orlando, Tampa/Ybor, Ft. Lauderdale, Miami/Dade, or anywhere in between. Once the internet speeds came up it was easier to keep a 100 CD sleeve bag full of fire music. From 1999 - 2005 my ears constantly were ringing for days after a weekend kicking it at a party, club, or festival. My crew was in it for the Breaks & Electro, party favors came on strong in the early years, by the end we just got high on the beats and going to live performances. Memories full of explosive nights literally every weekend for the longest time it seemed. It was a magical time for the scene itself and more amazing for me getting involved at a young age. Over night I had new friends that had a common interests, passion and love of our style of music. Chilling at a boys spot or kicking it at your spot, someone was always moving a mouse and banging on keys, or everyone taking turns on the mixer and tables having fun! I will always remembering the 2 records I practiced on over n over just learning to match snare hits and trying my ass off to keep it riding out for a minute slamming. What got me hooked is actually watching a new homie I made in the scene twisting knobs, sliding faders, EQ'ing the shit outta his music and really producing proper tracks. I seen fully both sides of the world we lived. I quickly gained a new respect for the talent and skills all this young guys n gals my age were doing creating the music I still enjoy today almost 20 years later. I got into Electro naturally because of my first love, Miami Bass & Freestyle. When your 13 and screaming at the Skate City DJ filling in for Resident DJ thats AWOL and playing just garbage, I knew that I had a Bass Addiction to the 808. Dirty beats coming up I-95 from Ft. Lauderdale & Miami literally set my life on a crazy path and a love for all of what Florida offered in the music scene. No doubt about it, the new Electro coming out today is jaw dropping. When those kicks n boom drops have subwoofers pumped to the max and that quad knock is pulsing literally through your body, that is a feeling everyone needs to experience at least once in life... Agreed...lol...!!!

From June of 2009 to October of 2012 Algorhythms 88.1fm WMBR M.I.T. radio carried out it's on air assault of the radiowaves in Boston Massachusetts. Founded by DJ DC on a mission to bring REAL underground electronic music to the commercial airwaves. 


DC has been involved with the electronic dance music scene in Boston and the northeast since the early nineties. He got his start with legendary Monstamind Crew notorious for a string of parties that introduced the region to the electro/breaks/b-boy culture. Like veterans Reel Drama, Miztahlex, D-Rek, and Trixie before him he now carries the breakbeat torch into the next century. 

In the years to follow DC Aka Dave Calculator has steadily risen through the ranks. 
He was a Boston Breaks founder and resident at the famed Tension weekly at the Phoenix Landing. Firmly entrenched in the Northeast breaks circuit he has shared the stage with names such as Reid Speed, The Rogue Element, The Freestylers, Exzakt, John B, Tommie Sunshine, Brazen, Melee, Sneaker and the Dryer, Farace, JSB, Big-n-Dope, and Deekline.

Now residing in West Palm Beach Florida, Dave Calculator enters a new chapter that is being written as we speak. Stay Tuned!!
