Cover of the classic Bonnie Raitt song (1991). Piano and vocals were recorded in one take during a session plagued with technical difficulties. Luckily Lin-Z was a trooper and she delivered a heartfelt vocal performance. Mike Douchette provided the pedal steel guitar overdub recorded by Bill Watson in Nashville.

Lost in the Rhythm I

DJ DeLeau's interest in music started (as most DJ's) in his early teens.

From the age of 10 he started remixing songs with a tape deck.
His curiosity with transforming sounds came from recording a conversation between his father and a friend. Soon he tried this with real songs.
At the time he was interested in soul and funk music.
Listening every Thursday evening to the soul show (DJ. Ferry Maat) he soon acquired a taste for artist like EWF, Donald Fagen, Michael McDonald, Herbie Hancock etc.
Mixing these songs gave him a lot of pleasure but at the time it was all for fun.

At the age of 12 he got a drum kit from his parents and soon he was playing drums in a rock band.
After some years he ended up in a band playing funk and disco music and at the height of his drum career he combined all these styles including fusion jazz.

In the late 90's he was asked to become the lead singer in a disco cover band (they already had a drummer) and from this point onwards he tried to perfect his vocals.
Although all his previous musical efforts were at a amateur level he always tried to translate his musical experience into the music he would play as a DJ in a later stage.

After having worked in a bar as DJ on the Saturday evenings for more than 6 years he got an opportunity to take over the Saturday night at club "In Casa" in Leiden in 1998.
The resident DJ Devious, (Dennis Verheugd) well known for his appearance on Radio 538, Radio 10 Gold (now Radio 10), was no longer able to combine his club night at In Casa with his radio work and so DeLeau was asked to take his place.

This took things to a complete different level. DeLeau Successfully played at In Casa on the Saturday night for over 4 years.

In June of 1999, together with 3 other friends he created a concept called "Liquid Exclusive Danceparties"
This was a special dance event held every Friday evening from June 1999 until December 2000.
This event hosted the most famous DJ's in the world at that time: DJ's like Tiesto - Armin van Buuren - Ferry Corsten - Yves DeRuyter - Mark van Dale -  Marcello - Jean - Jose - Klubbheads - Kai Tracid - Tom Harding and many more were booked to play at this venue.
DJ DeLeau played with all of these guys and still today has good contact with many of these world famous DJ's.

The result of these parties was that DJ DeLeau got the opportunity to play throughout the whole of Europe.
DeLeau played in Ibiza at the KU (Now known as Privilege) way back in 1998. BCM in Mallorca, Berghain in Berlin and of course throughout the Netherlands.

Because DJ-ing was never his primary source of income the live playing slowly faded and he started focussing on producing his own music.
