This is the live recording from my home camp of Heavy Petting Zoo which was co-hosted by Entheos and Sound Garden. My time slot was Saturday from 6-7pm. After a short break, I am pleased to bring the tradition back to life with Twenty-Two, celebrating my 50th birthday and 22 years of DJing. I usually set a lot of rules for programming these studio mixes but I let that all go for this mix and just chose what moved me. I hope it moves you too! I found the album cover quite fitting, which was taken at my 40th at the first ShOOnanigans 10 years ago! 

I am excited to celebrate my 50th at Public Works SF on Sat 7/19! We have one of my favorite producers, Aylen, headlining along with special guests and my long-time friends Dulce Vita (Opulent Temple), Haute Mess (Brass Tax), and Nugz (Dusty Rhino). Live At Imagination Festival (01/30/16)

Hi friends, I was recently inspired by my gig at the Space Cowboys show to record some of the house music in my collection. Some of it is new, some of it is classic, and some of it features new remixes of timeless, recognizable samples. It is because of this that I decided to call this DJ mix "Prescription (Rx) Comfort Beats," and I will continue to record more volumes. This is your comfy, groovin', house music. Music you can just simply enjoy whether it's in your car, whilst studying or doing chores around the house, or pre/after-partying on the weekend.


The best thing about this mix is that it is 100% live and "on the fly," meaning there was absolutely no pre-programming (aside from the decisions that I made during the recording, of course). It is a live, uncut & unedited mix (save for a light mastering). It is mixed in key, and both performed and recorded on the Pioneer XDJ-RX controller. All effects and loops were also recorded in real time with the XDJ-RX.

DJ Denise is a veteran staple of the San Francisco electronic music community, having firmly planted her roots in 1998 under the guise DJ D. Her meteoric rise led her to performing across the country from Miami to Hawaii and everywhere in between. She is most known for her precise & effortless beatmatching skills combined with nonchalant fader flicks and mixer tricks.

Denise has performed at almost every venue in the San Francisco Bay Area and also many festivals. In 2013, Denise won the Discovery Project and performed at Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas. 

Between 2006-2013, Denise launched her music production career while concurrently running her record label, Mizumo Music. The label released over 180 EPs from local & international artists while her original songs & remixes were released on labels based out of Europe, Australia, North & South America and South Africa. Her music has been licensed to various compilations including UK powerhouse Ministry of Sound, LovEvolution (San Francisco's homage to the infamous Love Parade), as well as on DJ mix compilations by Simply Jeff and DJ Shortee. Most recently you can find Denise’s music on InStereo Recordings, DJ Dan’s record label.

When she's not DJing or tinkering in the studio, you can find Denise working as an ER Nurse in Oakland, California. It is evident that her mission in life is to save lives, both on and off the dance floor.
