On Nov 6th, 2013 the world music community lost a prolific contributor and friend, Cheb i Sabbah. I had the pleasure of knowing him through DJing with him, as well as hiring him for several festivals...and of course listening and dancing to him for 20 years. This morning I spontaneously put this little mix together that includes many of the artists he worked with...thank you to my dear friend Gaudi ( https://soundcloud.com/gaudi) and his brief interview with Cheb I which became the intro to this mix.

Tribal Digs - is an ep filled with tribal and afro adventure. sounds that were other known bigger than the hot body records sound. normally we release a state of the underground but this high fueled pace release stretches a big mainstream (yet still underground) sound. after big beatport labels try to utilize sampling or congas in a way of a standpoint. hot body records on this release is trying to be only cool for what they can with a stellar tribal or other known percussive house release. Other Mamba is the release embrace of tribal sampling with spanish taste of latin house crave. This live* mix represents a treasure of old-to-nu-skool trans-Arabic motifs dropped in my set at Giza, Egypt, during the auspicious winter solstice gathering of 2012. 

It was recorded during the The Great Convergence, an amazing gathering held at the pyramids of Giza. The event was conceived by Tamer El-Shakhs and  produced by the excellent production team at The Do Lab, (thank you all!!) 

Many thanks to friends Jef Stott, Nominus, Drumspyder, Zeb SpyfromCairo Visini, Paula Peek Kraus, Said Mrad and Ganga Giri for the tracks they produced that made this cut….

RE-EDITED AND REMIXED FOR 2021: A very loose mix of Celtic and Scottish tunes remixed taken from my whiskey-spiked set (for the win: Tullamore Dew; 10-Year-Old Reserve) with Delhi to Dublin on St Patrick's Day - cheeky pipes and fiddles...kinda like an "Irish Spring" soap commercial meets house LOL!  What the hell... Don't take it too seriously, and chase it down with jeroboam of Guinness!
