The Rebirth, is a Los Angeles based septet built on an organic blend of new and traditional Soul, Hip-Hop, Jazz, and Funk. In this day of solo artistry, what distinguishes The Rebirth from most is their returned emphasis on the soul band, where each member is recognized for their participation, and each influences the direction of the overall sound.

In this unified effort, The Rebirth’s strength is not only present in the chemistry provided by the instruments but also in the group’s dynamic harmonic vocal layering. Groups such as Earth Wind & Fire, Ramp, Pleasure, Rotary Connection, Side Effect and Roy Ayers have served as models to the re-introduction of this forgotten sound. But before you dismiss The Rebirth as a retro act, the prevalent influence of modern music floods the room.

You can never listen to enough music, and however subtle, it will have some influence in your artistic development, says Loslito. A forgotten standard has been set with the influential artists mentioned above, and though the use of samples and computers, a notable evolution in music, the crafting of the great song and the great record is simply not as commonly achieved as it once was.

The Rebirth pays special attention to everything that makes a song find it’s own greatness. Melody, rhythm, lyrics, instrumentation, arrangement, performance and production are equally important and emphasized. Like an amazing human performance, greatness does not mean perfection it simply means in this case, that through the sweat and the challenge, The Rebirth is prepared to fully represent the return of the quintessential soul band.

Bongi Mvuyana is a South African singer, songwriter and performer who fuses soul, jazz and folk music to deliver a fresh, alternative soul sound to the discerning music lover. Her debut single, “I Wonder” introduced her sound to the African music scene in 2014 and went on to chart on Metro FM’s Top 30 Countdown and on four Nigerian radio stations. 

This was followed by more releases; an emotive ballad, “Gold” which charted on Vuma FM, Maskandi- influenced “Sweet Love” that playlisted on radio stations across Africa, and "Sizwile" which was remixed by renowned producer, Da Capo, and played in sets by the likes of Black Coffee & Louie Vega.

In 2019, Bongi Mvuyana featured as singer and songwriter on acclaimed international DJ and producer, Ralf GUM's single, "Used To Be". "Used To Be" has received favourable reviews from house music greats, DJ Christos and Vinny Da Vinci, as well as veteran house vocalist, Monique Bingham, naming it her song for 2019, and citing Bongi Mvuyana as "one of the most original singers I've heard in ages", in her interview with Big Shot Magazine in January 2020. Within weeks of its release with a remix package featuring Sir LSG, Opolopo (Sweden) and Davide Fiorese (Italy), the song charted on the iTunes Top 200 in South Africa, France and Italy. It has gone on to be played over 50,000 times on Spotify in 2019. The music video released in December 2019, on Channel O, Trace and MTV as well as online.
