Maybe it’s got something to do with the fact that he still has his homebase in a farm in Maybe it’s got something to do with the fact that he still has his homebase in a farm in the Kwa-Zulu Natal Midlands, but Jason Hartman is strikingly down-to-earth for someone so prodigiously talented.

Idols fans already know a large part of Hartman’s musical gifts: the 29-year-old made such an impression with his singing and performing that in May 2009, he was named the co-winner of this year’s incarnation of the global talent search.

But Idols only gave a small window into Hartman’s pretty dazzling array of talents – which together make him, hands down, the most exciting artist to emerge out of South Africa’s five Idols competitions.
Thankfully, the full sum of these talents can be heard on Hartman’s debut solo album, released via Sony Music Entertainment Africa.
