Klute returns to Headz with the Savage Circle EP, a collection of varied tracks that sum up what he brings to the camp perfectly. 

The EP kicks off with 'Westernized', a stepping track with a punchy mid range bass that carries that track through, its perfect 3am dancefloor material- eyes down and rolling. 'Mirrror' follows with its Aggressive lashing drums and gnarly bass, the breakdown is subtle and dream-like and leads you into a false sense of security before the heinous drop. The third track 'Just What You’re Feeling' is the most introspective track on the EP but nonetheless still very dancefloor oriented, gliding bass with synth chords washing over proceedings, a fine way to wrap up the vinyl version of the release. The EP closes with 'Arboretum', a soundcape piece that brings another angle to the release.

It's not just the festive season that has Mikal feeling generous however; the Bristol producer has recently put the finishing touches to his debut album Wilderness. Set for release early next year via Metalheadz, the 16-track LP promises more of the signature Mikal sound, and features collaborations with Break, Xtrah, Sophie Barker (Zero 7), RIOT (Buraka Som Sistema) and Chimpo.

Mikal is the "the silent assassin of the Headz camp," according to label boss Goldie.  "When I signed him I knew the potential he had in him - this album is the full realisation of that potential. He's worked very hard at perfecting his craft and I'm very happy to hear it. His inversion of DnB culture has always excited me, the dub element is something that resonates with me as a missing part to the puzzle in the Headz camp."

Wilderness is set to drop February 5th with a 3-track sampler preceding it on January 8th (pre-order here). In the meantime you can download grubby, halftime steppa 'Dub Machine' for free to keep you going over the holidays!

Our artist led Hospital Mixtape series continues! Over the years, S.P.Y has become one of the most well-respected producers and DJs in the game with an astute ear for the crispest, deepest and darkest drum & bass. T

S.P.Y’s sets are consistently crammed with the highest quality selections, which hasn’t gone unnoticed. In 2015 he was chosen to present the prestigious BBC Radio 1 Essential mix for Pete Tong and subsequently joined Annie Mac at her BBC Radio 1 stage at Glastonbury Festival.

A DJ in high demand, S.P.Y has spent the last year touring the globe from USA to Canada, Australia to New Zealand. Last summer he took to the stage at Bestival, Sun & Bass, EDC and Tomorrow World! Yet around his crowded schedule he’s found the time to delve deep in his record box and pull together 31 standout tracks of the moment.

He’s got his hands dirty getting hold of 15 previously unreleased tracks from the likes of Logistics, Dub Elements, Anile, Whiney and Random Movement. His hard work continues with three brand new S.P.Y productions ‘Take Control’, ‘Second Encounter’ and ‘Silent Wave’. He’s given a helping hand to brother Unreal featuring on his fire-fuelled track ‘Enduro’ and a got his head down to produce a Jungle VIP of BCee’s – ‘Back To The Street’.

S.P.Y’s been in hot demand for his remixing skills in the past year with his (Not So Glittery) Sigma remix hitting the BBC Radio 1Xtra playlist for a huge six weeks running. He’s done it again with four fresh reworks of: TC – ‘Rep’ ft Jakes, London Elektricity – ‘Why Are We Here?’, Fred V & Grafix – ‘Ultraviolet’ and and Digital – ‘Deadline’. Technique’s annual summer compilation has become one of the highlights of the label’s release schedule and this year’s edition is no exception.

Technique Summer 2016 features 37 tracks from across the drum & bass spectrum hand picked by Drumsound & Bassline Smith.

The label bosses themselves roll through with the fluid jungle of the Solah-laced “Cover Our Eyes”, the no-holds-barred funk of “Rise of the Black Panther” and their epic dubwise collaboration with Digital, “First World Problem”.

And then there are the big name cameos from artists not normally seen under the Technique banner. Brookes Brothers and Danny Byrd team up with the uplifting drive of “Climb High”, matched in hands-in-the-air power by the euphoric piano of The Prototypes’ “Don’t Let Me Go”. J Majik recruits 78° and Louie Cabrera for “Day I Left” and “Elastic” respectively. And the mighty DJ SS drops an emotively claustrophobic killer in the form of “Expression”.

Of course, the regular regiment of Technique soldiers are present and correct too. Tantrum Desire delivers the tech atmospherics of “Tesoro”, while Kronology subverts the big-room sound with the unpredictable twists and turns of “Everyday”. L Plus backs up rumbling bass and popping beats with entwined chord patterns in “Invincible”. Plus Document One show two different sides to their character, with the jazz funk vibe of “Klaxon” and the paranoid sci-fi of “Say What”.

And we’re nowhere near covering everything this album has to offer. From the jungle tear-out of Brian Brainstorm’s “Badman Selector” to the minimal magic of Oder’s “Mesmerize”, via the liquid purity of Salaryman’s “He Knows”, this is a journey that needs to be experienced. Any selection that takes you straight from Fade’s “Disco Ball” into Conspire’s “Glare of Brass” then to Salaryman’s “Synthesized Melancholia” is making a statement about the strength in depth of the D&B genre right now.

If all that wasn’t enough, all the tracks are featured on two continuous mixes by Kronology.

The first album sampler features Drumsound & Bassline Smith’s “Rise of the Black Panther” and is available now exclusively in the Beatport store and from the Technique shop from June 10. The second sampler includes Document One’s Klaxon and you can get your hands on in from June 24 in the Technique shop. The full album is released on 1 July but you can pre-order it now on iTunes and all other stores.

Following a string of successful releases Krakota is back with a massive 14-track collection. ‘Strange System’ marries heavy distortion with razor-sharp clarity, crossing and colouring the black and white lines of drum & bass with his versatile style and slick production. His debut album stands tall and proud shouting his individual sound. Never underestimate Krakota, he’s full of surprises!

In ‘Colour Of The Past’ Krakota simultaneously tugs at the heartstrings and hits hard in the face with vocals brought by new finding Karina Ramage. The French-Scottish-English songwriter was a surprise find by label boss Chris Goss as he discovered her busking on London’s South Bank. Another clear highlight is his partnering with our second label boss for ‘Powder Coated’ - the perfect mix of London Elektricity soul and Krakota power.

‘Half Life’ is a reminder back to the massive dancefloor damage caused by ‘Ice Hands’, ‘Ghosts’ and ‘Xylo’ last year. Its gritty split of siren calls and deep bouncing bass hits in all the right places. Krakota's musical edge shows in ‘Elastic’ with funk flare and horns hailing. ‘North Winds’ and ‘Turn of Fate’ blend arcade style synth work with crackles of white noise.

A consistently brilliant producer, Krakota’s carved out his own style over the past few years getting his name noticed on dancefloors around the UK and Europe. He's received support from the likes of BBC Radio 1's Friction and well remembered for his tear out live mix on BBC Radio 1Xtra's Soundclash in 2015. His solitary stance in the drum & bass world has been making waves and that’s sure to continue with his outstanding debut album ‘Strange System’.

Bio:
An artist at the core of the next-gen talent driving liquid drum and bass forward, Edlan has been turning heads since shooting onto the D&B scene in 2016. While still in his twenties, the Amsterdam-born artist has already played on major stages such as Liquicity Festival and Rampage Open Air, set up his own label ATNMY, and has been responsible for tracks garnering millions of streams including “Dreamcatcher” and “Whatever You Said”.

It’s a journey that started with Edlan becoming known for his dreamy liquid productions under the mentorship wings of Nymfo, but it has since seen Edlan grow into an artist exploring different music ambitions within the D&B scene. Characteristic of the next-gen crop of producers, Edlan adopts a flexible approach to the music he creates – never shying away from new styles or unfamiliar territories. That’s why his DJ sets will often surprise, and it’s the motivation behind Edlan’s more underground productions including “Tree of Life” and “Warehouse Tune”.

While some producers feel inclined to focus on one style, Edlan showcases a progressive attitude towards making music with an open mind, going where his inspiration takes him. And right now, Edlan is feeling more inspired than ever to create vocal music on a big scale –productions bridging the gap between the sounds of the underground and accessible music for bigger crowds. It’s a return to the origins of his music ambitions that initially hooked the interest of the scene – particularly labels including Liquicity, Pilot and Fokuz – and it’s a direction inspired by Edlan playing his music out at big European shows – experiencing crowd reactions like never before.

While there’s a beautiful sense of unpredictability to where Edlan will take listeners next, one thing you can guarantee is his drive to make music with emotional connection. The kind of tracks that tug at the heart strings with beautiful vocals, and excite with stripped-back, organic melodies and real instrumentation. You only have to listen to his debut Landmarks album in 2021 to get a taste of the adventure Edlan’s music can take you on. It’s the reason why the likes of Hybrid Minds, Etherwood, GLXY and Pola & Bryson are all keeping tabs on the artist right now. Producing music is a lot like storytelling, and the new chapter Edlan is writing is sure to be one you’ll not want to miss.
