Black Eyes is a DJ and producer who hails from Manchester, UK and is now a resident of Berlin. He is also the head of Lost Control 2097 where he releases his "hydro-trippin house and aquatic techno from Atlantis," heavily influenced by heavyweight producers such as Mike Huckaby, Walt J, Omar S and Norm Talley. In addition to the interview in this issue, Black Eyes put together this issue's cover mix.

This mix is "a collection of tracks I'm either playing out at the moment or just had on repeat listening. I've always kept my DJ sets quite deep but with touches of soul and Detroit vibes. I'm always interested in how a mix flows so there is a specific journey I'm interested in taking the listener in this one. I hope you guys enjoy the deep sound of hydro-trip."

For the second episode of There Is No Planet Earth Stories I'm joined by guest DJ Heather representing stories from Chicago. We discuss a range of topics from the celebration of her 35 year DJ career,  her experiences in the Chicago House Music Scene of the 80's and 90's,  working at Gramophone records,  as well as her experiences over the years as a DJ and Producer.

"DJ Heather is a highly respected and talented DJ from Brooklyn who has made a name for herself in the Chicago music scene. She got her start at the Artful Dodger, a neighborhood pub with a small dance floor, and quickly progressed to more prominent gigs, including a three-year residency at Red Dog and a stint at the famous Gramaphone Records. She is known for her versatile style, which incorporates a wide variety of genres including hip hop, house, jazz, soul, R&B, disco classics, and rare groove. Despite her success, Heather considers becoming a DJ to be a “happy accident” and a hobby that developed into a full-time pursuit. Throughout her career, she has focused on developing her skills and versatility as an entertainer, and is considered one of the premier selectors in the nation.

DJ Heather’s dedication and hard work have earned her a reputation as a skilled and talented DJ. Her ability to seamlessly blend different genres of music and create a unique and engaging experience for her audience has made her a favorite among music lovers in Chicago and around the world. This Is Chicago (2.5 hr Mix)

I have moved my decks upstairs and it feels like when people used to come round for a mix in your bedroom again so thought I'd hit record and play some of my favourites for old times sake. You all know the sketch, belt-drive decks balanced on whatever surface you could fit them on, records all over the floor, having a sneaky cig out of the window with a towel at the bottom of the door thinking the smell of smoke wouldn't travel. Good times!

I had a pair of pro 150 belt drives (pictured) but have thankfully upgraded since 1993.

It's very Masters at Work heavy but what do you expect when it's a 90's inspired mix?

Also features the voice of the 90's for me, Mr Michael Watford. RIP.
