„99 Kriegsminister, Streichholz und Benzinkanister, hielten sich für schlaue Leute, witterten schon fette Beute, riefen: „Krieg!“, und wollten Macht, Mann, wer hätte das gedacht? sang Nena 1983. Damals wusste der Robert vermutlich noch nicht einmal, dass er den Kriegsdienst verweigern würde. Und schon gar nicht, dass er vierzig Jahre später als Wirtschaftsminister für die Waffenindustrie trommeln und für massive Aufrüstung einer Kriegspartei und des eigenen Landes werben würde. Wahrscheinlich wusste er auch nicht, dass seine Parteigenossinnen fröhliche Selfies von der sogenannten Sicherheitskonferenz, damals hieß sie ja noch Wehrkundetagung, verbreiten würden, als befänden sie sich auf einer Party. 
Wer wollte ihnen auch den Spaß verderben, auch wenn zumindest ein seriöser Anstrich, für eine ernste Lage, sich besser machen würde? Immerhin demonstrieren gleichzeitig vor der Türe und in der ganzen Stadt Friedensbewegte, die ohne zu tötendes Menschenmaterial und Zerstörung ganzer Länder und Ökosysteme über Diplomatie zu einer friedlichen Koexistenz gelangen wollen. Irgendwie trübt das die Event-Stimmung. Das wussten sie bereits vorher. Wurden der parallel stattfindenden Internationalen Friedenskonferenz möglicherweise deshalb die Gelder gestrichen? Mit Schreiben vom 6. Februar 2024 informierten Kulturreferent Anton Biebl und Münchens Oberbürgermeister Dieter Reiter den Trägerkreis der Internationalen Münchner Friedenskonferenz, dass das Kulturreferat die Friedenskonferenz im Jahr 2024 und auch künftig nicht mehr fördert. Ein Stadtratsbeschluss dazu konnte nicht vorliegen. Der Antrag von SPD/Volt und den Grünen/Rosa Liste, federführend von Mona Fuchs, zur Streichung der Gelder war fünf Tage zuvor, am 1. Februar gestellt worden.
