Atish occupies a rare space in dance music. At a time when most DJs rise to prominence primarily through their work as producers, Atish’s success has been realized through his total devotion to the art of DJing. What began at a small gig back in 2010 in San Francisco has since flowered into a magical journey around the world at clubs, festivals, and afterhours on six of the seven continents. 

His success comes as no surprise to anyone who has seen Atish DJ live or listened to one of his mixes. With a combination of sophistication and accessibility, his sets are expressive journeys in melodic deep house that create lasting emotional experiences for the listener. Atish is also a natural performer, engaging the crowd with a mixture of charisma and charm. He’s been known to don costumes and wigs when he spins, a playfulness that balances the strict discipline and obsessiveness he has for DJing.

Atish’s natural talent and passion for music haven’t gone unnoticed. Lee Burridge asked Atish to play on the legendary Robot Heart bus sound system at Burning Man in 2011, and Atish has been invited back every year since. He’s also been honored to open for or tag with some of the most respected names in dance music including John Digweed, Danny Howells, Guy Gerber, M.A.N.D.Y., and Tyrant. Currently, Atish is on Listed Bookings’ roster, and he is a resident at Listed’s monthly party, Play, at San Francisco’s world-renowned club, The Endup. He‘s also a resident of the Desert Hearts family, a West Coast collaborative who put on the highly respected semi-annual Desert Hearts festival.

Atish has also developed a strong online presence through Soundcloud. A prolific mixer, Atish produces a monthly podcast series that has allowed him to express a deeper, moodier sound. Scrolling through his extensive catalog of mixes, one can hear an artist passionate about music and dedicated to the perfection of his craft. Having achieved so much in such a short amount of time, the dance music community is excited to see how far he can go.

After an intimate closing party with friends and family in Amsterdam last Friday, it’s time to salute you and everyone else that has been following us online. A sign of gratitude. One last present. Our musical testament.

As a final endeavour, we asked all SEKOIA team members to select 5 tracks that have stuck with them through the years. Tunes that fully embody the SEKOIA sound, songs with special stories and music that would directly take them back to special moments experienced in the last four years. 

During a rainy January afternoon, Will Oirson, Florinsz Janvier and Vela Uniform got together in the studio and mixed all these tracks into one, massive 5 hour recording. Our final podcast and our last gift to you. Lots of recognisable tracks, a collection of classics. Songs that will stick with us for the rest of our lives. A podcast with different chapters. There’s something in here for everyone. Please enjoy it as much as we did creating it!

The light of expectation...a soundtrack for the excitement and patience to welcome new life.

I kept this studio mix close the ground so that when the heights come around, they soar. Moments of delicious slow dance leave space for examination while the rhythmic undertones of Earth honor the cadence of human cultures older and newer. My hope is for listeners to find both peace and expansion, and to enjoy this during times of ease, on long walks and with friends.

I am increasingly enamored with the evolution of sound featuring - and elevating - the music cultures of the South American continent. It is a testament to the inseparable nature of music, religious and spiritual practice, and cultural heritage that is still present. The democratization of electronic music production has led to a proliferation of diverse voices, sounds and tools for musical expression; it is an intriguing expansion and demonstration of the capacity and power of electronic music. To me, this is a new bridge, a path connecting people, landscapes and sound; a riot and celebration of the diversity of human spirit. Despite the madness of modern life, music that connects and heals continues to emerge. What a gift.

This mix includes songs from the folkloric to the tribal, with touches of multi-cultural inspiration beyond the South American continent. It is woven together with strands of my other favorite realms, including ambient techno and dub techno.

I created this mix during a time when we were pregnant with and enjoying the first few weeks of life with our first child. This juicy, challenging and stupendously beautiful experience is humbling and also a creatively rich time to share through music.

El Búho is a UK producer now based Mexico City whose music draws the lines between electronic production, found sounds & organic samples and Latin American rhythms and folklore. He has released music on ZZK Records, Antartek Records and his latest EP Cenotes through Wonderwheel recordings and remixed for the likes of Chancha Via Circuito, Nicola Cruz, Tremor, Luzmila Carpio, Lucas Santana and Lulacruza amongst others

As well as curating the album A Guide to the Birdsong of South America he is also one of the co-founders of the Shika Shika with Argentine producer Barrio Lindo. He is currently working on his first LP.

Integrating global gems with sometimes heavy, sometimes heavenly percussive and melodic force, she strips back dance music to something we all can relate to.  Constantly searching for the essence of the sound - be it deep & dub techno, electronic folklore, house or beyond- she cultivates a bassy dancefloor (and headphone) experience that transcends stereotype. 

She is a member of Team Everything, Santa Fe's dusty and loving-techno creative dj + artist collective. She is currently working on an ongoing series of place-based 'immersive' mixes, created and performed in wild spaces alone or with an intimate crew of listeners.  

Based in Santa Fe, NM, Erin E loves, above all, creating the space for a transformative, positive experience through music and creative community.

Erin has played alongside as direct support for Chancha via Circuito, Nicola Cruz, Nicolas Jaar, El Buho, Random Rab, Monolake, Lusine, Uji, Lulacruza, Barrio Lindo, and many other collaborators and friends.
