at first i was in shock with the invitation to play at @namanteigaradio, since it's been many years i wished i could play there someday, and happyy and nervous i was. and for such a special day for me, i decided to make something completely different just cuz i don't really like making it easy for me. decided to take another detour from my most recent sets with faster BPMs to bring a diferent research that mixes some of my downtempo origins with reediting of classics, some psychedellic house and grooves, percussive collages made live, and tracks i have never played but love to listen at home, going around the world thru music till reaching back to the nest of music and humanity themselves in the beats of the batuque of some remixed afrobeats

Correspondant present the vinyl sampler for their 3rd label compilation. Following in the success of the previous two entries in the series, this latest edition provides a perfect snapshot of how the relatively young label has matured over three years, with contributions from a range of artists including big names (such as Roman Flügel and Chloe), close Correspondant family (like Man Power and Red Axes), and exciting new rising talent (including Bird of Paradise and Sigward).

With eight tracks, split over two records, Compilation 03 sees curator and label owner, Jennifer Cardini, displaying an even wider musical breadth than the previous two compilation incarnations, but still represents the undefinable yet unmistakable sound which truly marks out Correspondant as unique.

Correspondant Compilation 03 is due out via Correspondant on June 15.

Initially starting as a solo EP idea in 2015, willed into existence by Finnish producer Herman Prime aka Jon Thureson, Maajo later expanded to include a whole troupe of musicians (five of them to be exact). The following year, their debut full length album, "Tropical of Tulli", was released to great fanfare. Their sound can be described as a mesh of afro, disco and dub, intricately managing to weave their organic instruments into a mesh with electronic elements, neither one overpowering the other. One more turn around the sun and the remixes, which you just knew had to come, were released with contributions from some diverse, yet highly sought-after sources; namely Call Super, Luke Vibert and Dengue Dengue Dengue. We were anxiously awaiting some fresh material from the group and we were really excited to get our hands on the next EP from Maajo, once again being released on the mysterious Queen Nanny Records, a label named after the Jamaican national hero which launched alongside the band's debut LP.

Defo is the title and is also the lead track which we are premiering today. Bringing back their signature afrodisco sound, Maajo take a slightly deeper turn while still retaining their unique identity. At times the polyrhythmic track seems to be building in a more upbeat sounding direction led by the climbing bass, groovy percussion and guitar stabs but then the dub-techno-like chords bubble to the surface, a contradiction that you think shouldn't work but in actuality is pulled off brilliantly. All the other usual suspects are present too, with plenty of tropical sounding instruments, vocals and atmospherics, as well as the make you want to dance rhythm that is pulled off so effortlessly.

We're hoping this little EP is just a sampler of another full length album that's on the horizon. Don't forget to check the other two tracks on the EP, one a Trevor Deep Jr reconstruction (and how deep it is), as well as the lengthy and trippy B side Mansaba. Set those Juno release reminders!

Between 2006 and 2008 i (Tonic) made a few edits on a label called 'Mindless Boogie' under a few different names (Tonic, Skinny Joey, Rubber Room). The label was vinyl only, so the tracks are pretty hard to find by now. It's a shame to let them go to waste, so here they are... Go and multiply!

A light-footed ride over the keyboard of contemporary and universal sounds from organic-melodic house and disco through to soulful techno. You have to know who operates the controller here. You’re dancing towards the DJ booth. Who do you behold behind the turntables? Filburt. His sets between turntablism and beat match expertise, mindful of his flowing together in the great Floor formula style horizons are no more regional phenomenon. As 50 % of Good Guy Mikesh & Filburt [@ggm-filburt] and also as a producer / DJ on his own Filburts effective radius has expanded into the national and international in the recent years. As the former manager of the renowned Leipzig Vinyl Dealers Freezone Records and owner of the label @O-RS was or is he active at all possible switching points of the scene. The experience behind the decks and in the periphery trains his sense for the perfect club track for years. Several formulations with this feeling for House and everything adjacent have already appeared on labels like Permanent Vacation, Liebe*Detail, Mirau, Dirt Crew, Compost and Riotvan.
