Murray CY is the owner of the Glasgow-based label Contort Yourself. Contort Yourself is a new-comer in the Scottish industrial scene yet deeply rooted on the malevolent beats and sounds of 80s EBM, wave and industrial that created a distinguished music chapter with their blunt aesthetic. “Replete with an agenda of sonic experiments both old and new, expressing the sound of darkness and frustration through use of machines, this is beyond merely jacking your body with contortions reaching deep into the psychological as well as the physical”, as the label introduces laconically its music intensions and consequences…
With two strong installments already featuring artists like Golden Pudel-resident Helena Hauff, Italian EBM/Indrustrial group Pankow, the Industrial legends Die Form, LIES heavy-artillery Slugbug, Contort Yourself establishes rapidly a recognizable lo-fi techno identity.
The next installment is called "Shark Story of the Century" and features among others, Beau Wanzer, Esplendor Geometrico and Broken English Club. It is now on vinyl.
