With humble beginnings in Diplo’s Philadelphia studio, Mad Decent’s unwavering mission is to highlight underground, genre-blurring sounds. Residing in Berlin, prolific duo Perma & Du - real names Niall & Dennis - have recently been receiving the recognition they deserve, with their grips firmly tightened on a promising future in music. This is partly down to their ‘Dusht’ track which saw the light of day at the back end of 2019 on the acclaimed Vatos Locos, which significantly cemented their place on the label, now being invited for a second encounter in the form of their ‘Time Therapy’ EP in summer of 2020. A stamp of approval, and a glimpse of what is to come for the Irish and German natives. 

The dynamic pairing was formed on the dance floors of Melbourne’s underground circuit in 2015, and ever since then, the chemistry has blossomed into something quite rare. Drawing their influences from this scene, they started to delve into the world of dusty, energetic drum grooves and sophisticated synth lines with their music-making. Simultaneously, steadily building a name for themselves with extended DJ sets at almost anywhere they could get their hands on, things have organically risen since these pivotal times of their lives. The move to Berlin was a natural progression as they can immerse themselves in the culture and surround themselves with like-minded people - something that reflects in the output.   

This is a bond beyond friendship, as they fully invest their passion into building on their craft, refining everything they know and have learnt in recent years. It is not often a connection is this strong, melding two extensive passions for sound, and desires to constantly improve their productions and record collections, yet both bring a unique input to the table. Hard work pays off and this is something Perma & Du are certainly not afraid of.
