On Saturday, August 14th, THIS was a big one for me….. I was beyond honored to find out, just one week before this event, which I already had purchased tickets for, that I would be the opening DJ for world-renown German Trance legend, Nic Chagall of COSMIC GATE, on the “Sunset Sessions on the HIYU” DJ Cruise, Saturday, August 14th, 2021. I am pretty much speechless about this one, almost impossible to describe this amazing day, but also it was a really cool "full circle" for me because Cosmic Gate was my very first opener show in Seattle on May 11th, 2013, at club a called Foundation, just a few years after I moved up here, so it was such an honor to be able to share the decks with Cosmic Gate again after all these years. This show sold out in 3 minutes, so unfortunately there were a lot of people who wanted to go that couldn’t, but for those whom were able to attend, it was such a perfect NW summer day out on the beautiful Lake Washington and Elliott Bay, with such a special group of amazing friends and Trance Family that attended, the euphoric vibes were through the roof....truly a magical experience that I will never forget.. Originally, I was told I would be playing from 4:30-5:30pm, then it was off to the Cosmos, but my set got lengthened by over 20 minutes, so by the time I handed the decks off to Nic the cruise was well underway, and it was such a thrill seeing all the people dancing and having a great time to my set. I’m still kind of walking on clouds from that day, it really seemed like it was just a dream, just a bunch beautiful smiling faces, high fives, pats on the back, sweaty hugs, and a blur of amazing music and beautiful water scenery. Opening set for COSMIC GATE "Sunset Sessions on the HIYU", Sat, Aug 14th, 2021, Seattle, WA

On Friday, August 19th, I was incredibly honored to be on the opening roster for Canadian Anjunadeep rising star, SIMON DOTY, at Q Nightclub in Seattle. This was such a fun show, and ironically just the weekend before I had the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be the only opener for Cosmic Gate on a Seattle DJ boat cruise around Lake Washington called “Sunset Session on the HIYU”, and the two Simon Doty tracks I played during that set were probably my favorite in the whole mix, so Simon was already on my radar as being one of my favorite new up-and-coming DJ/producers out there, and to hand off the decks to him was a total blast and honor, super nice and humble guy, and his set was incredibly mesmerizing, so much so that most everyone stayed until the very end on a Thursday night, me included! I shared the decks with a couple other great DJ’s that night, Oxymoron (a.k.a. Alex Henkens, a good buddy of mine and a great producer in his own right, formerly known as FFM), and Tommy T. It was my first time playing at Q Nightclub, located in Capital Hill, Seattle, a beautiful, large club with an amazing sound system, and the crowd that night was super amazing and supportive, fun to play to, and as usual, yet another unforgettable evening.. I knew Simon plays at around 123-125-ish, so I played a really down-tempo and ethereal deep progressive set and it seemed to resonate with he audience that evening, which was awesome. Opening set for SIMON DOTY, at Q nightclub, Seattle, Fri, Aug 19th, 2021, Seattle, WA

On January 29th, 2022, I was honored to be on the opening roster for UK Trance legend and true pioneer from the very early days of Trance music, JOHN OO FLEMING, at Ora Nightclub, Seattle. This was another one of those "Pinch me, am I dreaming?" moments for me haha, as I have been a fan of JOOF since way back at the beginning when I first started to discover this world of Trance and Progressive, so it was such a thrill to be able to warm up the CDJ's for this incredibly talented individual, whom has truly stood the test of time, and has contributed so much to the Trance scene over the past couple decades. Anyway, it's been a while for me, with COVID going around I haven't been going out to many shows, and haven't had an opportunity to play live since the Sunny LAX show back in October. So, on top of the thrill of seeing John OO perform live for the first time ever, it was just so great to see so many familiar, smiling faces and friends having a good time on the dancefloor, and to finally start feeling alive again. I loaded this set up with some gems that I have been listening to and collecting over the past few months, and it was such a fun set to play. Opening set for JOHN OO FLEMING, Ora, Seattle, Jan 29th, 2022

On Saturday, April 30th, 2022, I was honored to be on the opening roster to perform a B2B (back-to-back) set, paired up with my long-time Seattle DJ friend, the lovely Janice Chae, a.k.a. J-NOTE, for none other than one of the true Godfathers of the Trance scene, legendary UK Trance artist and record producer, PAUL OAKENFOLD. Truth be known, it was Paul Oakenfold that originally sent me spiraling into the world of Trance, from which I never have emerged again, in 1998 when I first heard his album “Tranceport” at Disney World in Orlando, FL. That album blew my mind and it sent me into this mad frenzy to find more and more of this music called Trance, which led me down the rabbit hole to other artists over the next few years like Tiesto, Mirco de Govia, Ronski Speed, Kyau & Albert, NuNRG, Andy Moor, Mike Shiver, Armin van Buuren, Paul van Dyk, Cosmic Gate, and eventually Above & Beyond, ANJUNA, etc, but that whole journey for me had a definitive starting point, “the Big Bang” as it were, and for me that was Paul Oakenfold… So, this show really felt like a going the full circle for me, and was just a really amazing night. It was also my good friend Eric Weber’s birthday, and he DJ’d an amazing all-classics Birthday set right after us, so it was truly a night to remember, and the club was totally packed with Trance fans and had an incredible energy to play to. Janice and I didn’t rehearse this set, we just set rough guidelines for general BPM and feel, and to try to have tracks that were easier to mix into, but what you hear on this set is what we figured out organically as we played through our 70-minute time slot. It was a total blast, and getting to “open for” and actually meet Paul Oakenfold was a definite bucket list item checked off for me. What a night!! GOTEK & J-NOTE opening B2B set for PAUL OAKENFOLD, Ora, Seattle, Sat, April 30th, 2022

138 BPM Trance, before it was even referred to as “Uplifting Trance”, is what I originally fell in love with back in the late 90’s and what eventually inspired me to buy some turn tables and learn how to DJ, which began this whole thing for me. Even though I mostly only am able to DJ Progressive House and/or Progressive Trance (sub-130 BPM Trance) when I play out in clubs, Uplifting Trance will always be my original love and passion for this music, and it was the spring well that led to all of these other genres in the decades that followed. To me, nothing can ever quite make you feel that weightless feeling of those massive, dizzying Uplifting Trance break downs, euphoric builds, and spine-tingly crescendos.. Anyway, I’ll always have a soft spot in my heart for the Uplifting stuff, and will always continuously buy a few here and there when I hear something special, collecting them as the months go by. Occasionally when the mood strikes, (and more often then not there "might" be a few cocktails involved haha) I’ll start kicking around a set list and experiment with it on the CDJ’s, and when the stars align, I hit the “record” button on my digital recorder and see what I end up with. This is one of those, recorded on Saturday, January 21st, on a chilly, grey winter day here in Seattle, but reminiscing about my recent vacation in beautiful sunny Hawaii, and some of the tracks I was listening to while I was there….always remembering that no matter how grey and dismal things get around here, there is a magical paradise somewhere out there, just waiting for us, and music can help us get there. I have also been thinking about a lot of older classics lately, so made sure to throw some golden oldies in on this one, as well as a few recent amazing remixes of classics. ~ As a side note, I heard Richard Durand’s “Save You” on a recent Trance Sanctuary podcast, and the beautiful, heartfelt lyrics of Christina Novelli reminded me of my very, very, very best friend from High School, Kent Bench, whom was and always will be my dearest friend. Kent tragically passed away a few years ago from liver disease associated with alcoholism, and it was beyond crushing to me and everyone whom loved Kent. These lyrics reminded me of that time, no matter how much I desperately wanted to save Kent, there ended up being nothing anyone could do to reverse the course of this horrible disease, and he slipped away. Anyway, sorry to be depressing, and I really hope none of you ever have to go through something like that. I dedicate this mix to my best friend, Kent. I love and miss you buddy. <3

“Winter in Paradise” an Uplifting Trance demo mix, recorded live Sat, Jan 21st, 2023

Hey guys, well, I had SO much fun recording the first White Label Classic trance mix, and received a lot of much-appreciated positive feedback on it, that I AM BACK with another Classic Uplifting Trance mix for ya, with White Label 002!! I really dug deep on this one and used even more MP3’s than on the first one because some of this stuff is so rare it’s no longer available to purchase, and/or only released on vinyl. I did my best with sound leveling to make sure the recording volume is consistent from track to track, but some of this still stuff is just so old that it wasn’t great sound quality, hopefully it sounds okay. I had to take several tries at recording this and really had to play with the tracks and placement, but I think I got it right in the end, however I’ll let you be the judges haha. One thing I noticed is I heavily indexed on Ronski Speed on this set, but truth be told it was really Ronski’s sound that I obsessed with in the early years of building interest in Trance, and we have a lot to thank Ronski for in all of his pioneering and influence in this uplifting trance sound in the very early days, some of my very favorite stuff of all-time. Also loaded it up with some other golden oldies and rare gems and I really like the way this one turned out. “White Label” a Classic Trance demo mix: 002, recorded live March 5th, 2023

On Friday, March 24th, I was super excited and honored to not only be opening for Irish Trance legend and pioneer, JOHN O’CALLAHAN, but also to be back behind the decks doing a B2B set with one of my oldest and dearest Trance DJ buddies, the promoter that offered my very first gig and chance to open for a world-class Trance headliner, (The BLIZZARD, at the Whiskey Bar in Portland, 11 years ago in 2012!!) which made everything else after that possible, for which I will eternally owe him my endless gratitude for making my DJ dreams come true, my dear Serbian buddy, Zoran, better known as ZOXY. What a night, that’s all I can say. The club was packed for John O’Callahan, and it was packed early so even us opener DJ’s had a packed dance floor to play to, and it was so much fun. It is now just a blur of laughing and high-fiving and hugs and a bunch of smiling people with their hands in the air, which is about as good as it gets. Anyway, B2B sets are always fun, and also challenging to try to figure out how to mix in the next track on an unrehearsed set. Zoxy + Gotek B2B opening set for John O’Callahan, Ora, Seattle, Fri, Mar 24th, 2023

On Saturday, May 20th, I was extremely honored to be the primary opener for Japanese DJ and music producer, RINALY, at Ora Nightclub, Seattle. You may have seen Rinaly at one of the giant Trance festivals around the globe, and she has performed in renowned clubs such as Zouk Singapore, Colosseum Jakarta, as well as major international events such as Amsterdam Dance Event, EDC Las Vegas, Japan & China. She’s been producing Trance for the past decade and seen several of her singles hit the top Trance charts on Beatport. Rinaly in fact flew directly from this year’s EDC in Las Vegas to Seattle to play with us at Ora that night, and it was so cool to meet her in person. She was quite humble and sweet (and also very tall!), in fact on my last track I noticed something out of the corner of my eye and she was waiting at the bottom of the DJ booth stairs for me to invite her up, which was hilarious to me and very cute; most headliners just barge their way onto the stage and shove us openers aside. Haha just kidding (mostly) but I thought that was very humble and endearing. Anyway, since Rinaly plays uplifting Trance, 138-140+, the promoter told me I could play up to 136, which we rarely get to play in clubs. So as you’ll soon hear, I took full advantage of that and cranked it up to 136 for most of the set and got to play a lot of my favorite go-to Trance artists, such as Temple One, Ultimate, DJ T.H., and Alex Wright, plus a bunch of other amazingly uplifting tracks, and kicked it off with the brand new Myon remix of JODA’s “Breaking Down the Walls” which I was SOOOO excited to hear on the club sound system , such a crazy awesome track. Opening set for RINALY, Ora Nightclub, Seattle, Saturday, May 20th, 2023

This is "Part 2" B2B opening set from Friday, July 7th, where I was incredibly honored to be on the opening roster for a UK Trance Legend, JOHN ASKEW, at Ora Seattle!!! Once again, I was able to join my dear buddy from Portland, Zoxy, behind the decks for a B2B ("back-to-back") set, and we had the distinct honor of handing off the decks to John Askew, whom both Zoxy and I had been a fan of since the very early days of Trance in the 90’s. I am calling this set “Part 2” because I had already played for an hour before this with another great DJ buddy of mine, Eric Weber, a.k.a. WEB for an unplanned B2B set to open the club. We were filling in for another DJ who was not feeling well that night unfortunately, but it was a unique opportunity to play for 2 hours and kick off the night with a cool progressive set with Eric, then ratchet it all the way up to 138 BPM’s to get the club heated up for John Askew, which was a lot of fun. It was an amazing evening of incredible music, and the crowd of Trance fans there to see John Askew was SO much fun to play for.. For this one, Zoxy and I played a mixture of some brand-new releases, as well as a few older, more vintage Trance Choones from yesteryear, and I even busted out “Call The Galaxy Taxi” by Plastic Angel, such a classic from the early 2000’s that sounded SOOO awesome on the club sound system, and we had the dance floor jumping up and down a few times. Anyway, incredible night, and once again, being able to hand off to John Askew was a true honor. ZOXY + Gotek B2B opening set (Pt. 2) for JOHN ASKEW, Ora, Fri, July 7th, 2023

On Friday, September 22nd, I was honored to open for rising ASOT & Anjuna star, Dutch Trance and Progressive artist, Laura Van Dam. This show was called “Vivid Presents a Vue Takeover feat. Laura Van Dam with DEPTH & Friends”, so it was at a new Seattle club for me that I hadn’t ever been to before, and it was amazing!! This was also my very first time playing for Vivid Presents, so it was a super great honor for me to be the primary opener spot and hand off the decks to Laura herself!! On top of everything else, it was Laura’s birthday too, so it was a party. As mentioned, this was my first time at Vue Lounge, and the club was packed, even when I showed up at 9:30pm, and by the time I went on there was such a magical Trance Fam vibe going on, so many smiling faces and people dancing, arms in the air. They had the DJ booth kind of right there on the dance floor, so you were right there with the people, which was an interesting and invigorating experience to be out in the open like that. Vue had three stages going on, what a neat venue with a totally different vibe at each room, but amazing DJ’s at each with different varieties of hard techno and electro house. Laura was super humble and sweet and it was such an honor to meet and hand the decks off her, and her set was totally fun to dance to. It was also fun to share this adventure with my two fellow opener DJ buddies, Isabel Rose and Bryan Kyes, who also played some killer supporting Trance sets. I was really happy with the way this set turned out and there were so many great prog-trance tracks that just released from some of my main go-to Trance Fave producers, such as Dan Stone, Nitrous Oxide, David Broaders, Kyau & Albert, Darren Tate, Aimoon, and more.. I was like a kid in a candy shop and I was able to cram 14 tracks into 1 hour haha. Such a cool night, thank you so much to Vivid for having me out to spin some Trance!!! Opening set for LAURA VAN DAM, Vue Lounge, Seattle, Friday, Sept 22nd, 2023

On Saturday, November 18th, I was honored to be the primary support for rising star Irish Trance DJ/Producer, BILLY GILLIES, at Ora Nightclub in Seattle. It seems I have been on a roll opening for Uplifting Trance and Techno Headliners lately, which has been super fun because it allows me to tap into the higher BPM's (up to 138) which are fairly far-and-few-between opportunities for opening DJ's.. Uplifting Trance is one of my favorite genre's of electronic dance music, and what got me into Trance in the first place. I was particularly excited about this one because Billy Gillies has definitely been on my radar for the past year or so , after having first heard a set by him on the "Trance Sanctuary" monthly podcast, which follows all the big DJ's and newer, relevant names rising in the scene in the big Trance Clubs in the UK. I was super excited about his tracks and remixes, and became a fan instantly. This set was so much fun, and I got to spin for the first time with an O.G. Seattle DJ who's been around for long before I showed up in the Seattle DJ scene, Kazan. I was able to squeeze in 13 tracks into this one, which is packed from beginning to end with amazingly euphoric bangers, spiced up with a couple classics from yesteryear which still send chills down my spine to this day; the Odonbat Remix of Karybde & Scylla's "Distorted Reality", and the timeless Temple One remix of "Things That Happen" by Will Holland, such an amazing track. The audience of Trance fans at this show was super fun to play for, and Billy Gillies showed up with a huge entourage of friends and fans that had followed him from playing three sets at Dreamstate down in LA just a few days before. Billy was a super friendly and humble guy, and it was a real honor to meet him and hand the decks off to this amazingly talented guy. This will likely be my last headliner opening show for the year, but I do have NYE show lined up in Portland, which should be a lot of fun, and I hope to have another Progressive House demo mix finished before Christmas, so keep your eye out for those! On Sunday, December 31st, I was thrilled to have been invited back down to Portland, Oregon, to play a New Year’s Eve 2024 Trance Party at Opaline Nightclub, for the 2nd year in a row!! Opaline is a neat, kind of intimate little club in the heart of the NW “Old Town” district of downtown Portland, and it was a total blast to be down there again spinning some Trance with my old DJ buddies from yesteryear; Zoxy, Scott Vorel, and Tim Clang, guys from the old “Mission Trance” days when I had a once-a-month residency at the “Whiskey Bar” in Portland for a few years, over a decade ago.. Whiskey Bar has sadly since closed down during COVID, and ironically, I had to walk by the boarded up building where it once was, to get to Opaline, I could still feel the energy and almost hear the Oonz Oonz Oonz coming out of there like the old days, a lot of fond memories and ghosts from a better time emanating from within. As soon as I found out that my set time was from 12am to 1am, starting right after the New Year’s Champaign Toast at Midnight, I immediately knew that I needed to kick off the set with the CLASSIC “Moonlight Party” by Fonzerelli, to get a bit of that early nostalgic Tiesto “In Search of Sunrise” vibe, and to set up the total party mood to keep people dancing and on the dance floor. From there, I just decided to keep it all Classics, and played a smattering of some of my very favorite tracks, ranging from 2005 to 2016, but mostly centered around the early 20-teens, to align with that magical era when I was playing the Mission Trance at the Whiskey Bar in Portland and Foundation in Seattle, when there were SOOOOO many incredible Progressive Trance tracks coming out back then. Anyway, the DJ coming on after me took some extra time coming up to the DJ booth so I got to sneak in a few extra tracks past my 1-hour time slot, and also I ratcheted it up to some Uplifting Trance at the end, which was fun. Also, this set was RECORDED LIVE directly from the mixer at the club, and unfortunately the first track got cut off on the recording a bit.. Oh well.. Guest set for ”New Years Eve 2024 at Opaline”, Recorded LIVE on Sunday, December 31st, 2023

On Saturday, February 10th, 2024, I was extremely honored to find myself back behind the decks as an opening DJ for none other than Mr. “Perfecto” himself; world-renown, globe-trotting Trance pioneer and early EDM influencer, PAUL OAKENFOLD, at ORA, Seattle!! Paul’s album “Tranceport” was my very first Trance CD in 1998 and will always be one of my very favorite live-mixed Trance sets and what really sparked my soon-to-be hardcore obsession with Trance from that moment forward. This dapper fellow was even bestowed an honorary award from Queen Elizabeth on behalf of the British Empire as a “Pioneer of the Nation” for his contributions to dance music. I opened, along with rising star DJ, Sloane Motion, as the local support, and Paul has his own label opener “BLKLGHT”. I was 2nd DJ on and was super excited to see that the club was pretty full when I started, and by the time I reached the halfway point of my set the dancefloor was packed with the smiling faces of Trance fans, hands in the air, so it was a total blast. This set was so much fun to play and I was able to cram in 15 tracks of mostly instrumental Progressive Trance, so it’s a really cool, euphoric journey through sound and I received a ton of compliments from people in the audience once I came down off the stage, which is always a fantastic feeling to get that kind of real-time positive feedback on something I had put a lot of work into preparing for. Anyway, here it is, and I hope that you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed playing it!! Lastly, I just played again last weekend down at Opaline Nightclub in Portland for a local DJ’s Trance night, and that was also a lot of fun and I should have that set also uploaded here for streaming shortly. Opening set for PAUL OAKENFOLD, Ora, Seattle, Sat, Feb 10th, 2024

On Saturday, February 17th, I was thrilled to be able to venture back down to my old stomping grounds of Portland, Oregon, and play a Trance guest set for the boys behind Mission Trance and Team Yellow, at Opaline Nightclub in the heart of NW Portland in the Old Town district. I was joined by some fellow Trance enthusiasts and up-and-coming Portland DJ’s, Anthony Julian, and Dougal Sorcha, whom completely blew me away with their awesome sets and performances, and of course, OG Portland Trance Master and avid promoter, ZOXY. We had a great little crowd of local Trance fans dancing the night away that evening, and this show was so much fun to play at, just like all of my previous experiences playing at Opaline; kind of bare bones set up, but with a cool, underground sort of vibe, just large enough to feel like a club, but still a smallish, more intimate setting, with a great sound system and great drinks! Anyway, I had a lot of fun with this set, and since I was first on, I wanted to kick it off slow and have a nice build, and ended up using three tracks by one of my favorite producer Duo acts and creators of a non-stop list of spine-tingly bangers, Alex Sonata & TheRio. I included “Nebula”, which I had played once before in 2021 during a COVID quarantine streaming set, but I had always wanted to play it live to an audience, such a great track.. I also broke out one of my all-time favorite tracks from the archives, “Cloverfield”, by 19 Hz, SO great to hear that track again after so many years. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this set as much as I enjoyed playing it, and just a heads-up that I will have a new Prog Sessions uploaded sometime soon, with some really beautiful and mellow, soulful tracks as well. Guest set for the “Trance Portland” show, Opaline, Portland, Sat, Feb 17th, 2024

Hey guys, just like the last edition of Prog Sessions, I’ve been working on this one for a while and have recorded it numerous times and changed things around quite a bit. I recorded this iteration of it a couple weekends ago on Saturday, March 2nd, and I really liked how it turned out, so it’s a keeper. I felt that this one turned out how I had intended it to, relaxing and sublime, with a nice, mesmerizing journey through sound. One thing to note is that, the 2nd track, “Silence If You Fall” by Alex H, I first heard on complication back in December while on vacation in Kona, Hawaii, and I listened to this track again and again for my whole trip, I loved it so much.. Frustratingly it wasn’t released until just recently, but I knew as soon as it came out it would be my impetus to build a mix around it, such a wonderful, amazing track that just makes me feel like I am floating haha.. Anyway, without going into too much additional (and probably needless) detail, I welcome you to Prog Sessions, March Edition, and hope that you enjoy the mix!! PS: the photo is one I took on my vacation to Japan back in October; that was from an early morning walk on the beach in Hamamatsu, and yes those are my footprints haha. “Prog Sessions, March 2024 Edition” a progressive house demo mix, recorded live March 2nd, 2024

On Friday, April 12th I was incredibly honored and excited to be able to warm up the decks, along with my good DJ buddy, Serjey Andre Kul, for the one-and-only, beloved Irish Trance DJ/Producer and early pioneer in this music, Mr. PURE Trance himself, Richard Mowatt, or more commonly known as.. SOLARSTONE, at Ora Seattle. This was my third time getting to open for Richard, and as expected, it was a night of beautiful, euphoric, vibey Trance and Progressive that I was so happy to be a part of. On these rare occasions when I get to open numerous times for the same famous, globe-trotting DJ/Producers like Solarstone, it adds a special element of fun to it because they always remember me like we’re old friends haha, which just makes it all the more special of an experience. Also, Richard has such a loyal following and it was awesome to see all these fans show up for the chance to shake his hand, get autographs, or just old friends who’ve seen him play for decades, there to say hello to a dear friend. It was really cool. One funny little note about this mix, this DJ booth was a newer downstairs edition to the club that I hadn’t played on yet, and it had slightly older CDJ’s and I was having issues getting my SD memory stick to load, so in the commotion I accidentally started with my very last track first. I meant to kick this set off with Nils Hoffmann, “Closer”, but the DJ before me somehow set it to my last track and I didn’t notice until after I already transitioned it in. So, it was one of those serendipitous things where I had a bonus track at the very end that I didn’t think I’d get to, which was Yotto, AVIRA, ALSO ASTIR, “Forget”, accidentally get played first, and it was GREAT and the crowd loved it!! Opening set for SOLARSTONE, Ora, Seattle, Fri, Apr 12th, 2024

On Saturday, November 22nd, I was incredibly honored to be one of the opening DJ’s for one of my most favorite Trance acts of all time, all the way from Helsinki, Finland, SUPER8 & TAB. On top of that I was also opening with two of the Northwest’s biggest Trance DJ’s, Johnny Monsoon and Darrius Washington, plus a quadruple Birthday party celebration including mine, so it truly was a special night that I will never forget. I had so many friends at this show, my guest list was full, and by the time Johnny Monsoon was finished with his set the club was nearly at capacity so my set from 10-10:45pm was incredible with so much energy and love radiating from the crowd, I will never forget this night. Getting to meet Super8 & Tab was totally amazing as well, totally sweet and humble guys, and their set was out of this world. This set was easily one of the most memorable sets I probably will ever have the chance to play; I hope you enjoy it as much as I did spinning it. Cheers! -Mark

Hey guys, welcome to the next iteration of Prog Sessions, April 2024 edition!! This one sort of happened by accident; I’d been working on my set for Solarstone and I was going through all of my recently purchased music, and for tracks that I thought were too mellow for the Solarstone show I was throwing them into a folder I just called “April Prog”, but I noticed later that I actually had a ton of great tracks in there so made a note to go back and see if I had the right elements to get a playlist to work.. I wanted to record a set to listen to for Saturday night BBQ, something I frequently do haha. So, I did, on that Saturday the 13th, this is what happened, and after I listened to it I knew I had a keeper. Probably “TMI” haha, but that’s literally how this set came to be, whereas many of my previous "Prog Sessions" sets took me numerous tries and probably weeks of trial and error to get to a version that I thought was good enough for streaming, so this was a pleasant surprise!! :D Anyway, without going into too much additional boring detail, I welcome you to Prog Sessions, April Edition, and hope that you enjoy the mix as much as I did recording it!! PS: the photo is one I took on my vacation to Germany back in October of 2022 for Oktoberfest; that was from a morning walk through a huge square in Stuttgart called Schlossplatz, and it has these two enormous and beautiful fountains, which were built in honor of King William of Württemberg, in 1863. The two landmarks are popular sights for tourists and visitors to Königstraße in Stuttgart, and I’ve always loved seeing them whenever I am there. I thought that photo would be perfect for this mix. “Prog Sessions, April 2024 Edition” a progressive house demo mix, recorded live April 13th, 2024

Hey Guys, getting the next iteration of my Progressive House series, “Prog Sessions” in just under the wire for May here haha. I was figuring that I would call it “June Edition”, but since the cover art is an awesome photo, taken over my house by my neighbor across the street, of the Aurora Borealis caused by the solar storm that so many people saw around the world during the month of May, and also in honor of my Dad’s 87th Birthday, which is TODAY (May 30th), I am sticking with “May Edition” for this one!! I have been struggling with time lately, as my “real job” has been super busy, so I haven’t had much time to work on DJ stuff lately. But I (of course) keep listening and constantly buying new music, and I had this massive stockpile of awesome new tunes building up, so much so that I really had a severe case of writer’s block with this one and had no idea where to start. So last weekend I spent hours downloading and arranging tracks and got it narrowed down to about 50 “keeper” tracks, then managed to narrow it down to the lucky 13 on this set, and recorded it on Monday, memorial Day Holiday.. I just recorded this the one time and that was it; all the tracks just worked together beautifully, which is rare for a one-time recording session!! Lastly, I usually try to put 14 tracks on these Prog demos, but Warung’s EPIC track, “All We Have Is Time”, seemed like such a great place to end it, and also loved the irony because all I DON'T have is time these days haha, so I stopped the recording there. “Prog Sessions, May 2024 edition” a progressive house demo mix, recorded live May 27th, 2024

Hey guys, well it’s been a while since I posted any Uplifting Trance demo mixes.. Well, guess what, I’M BACK!!! (Haha) Truth be known, regardless of how long I go in between Uplifting Trance sets, I still do listen to it, my first love in this type of music, before Progressive House or anything else, Uplifting Trance of the 138-140 BPM caliber was what originally hooked me into this world and scene and encouraged me to buy my first set of DJ gear and force myself to learn how to play, on vinyl back then.. Anyway, I still listen to it all the time, and am always researching and buying new tracks to add to my collection. You’ll notice with this one that there is a HELLUVA-LOTTA Vocal Trance on this one compared to my usual selections, but oh man, there are SO many amazing vocal tracks coming out these days, so I couldn’t resist. You may also possibly notice that I am attempting to programatize these demos, just like with my “Prog Sessions” progressive house demo mixes, I am starting a new series for Hi-NRG Uplifting “138”-type tracks, and I am calling it “Trance Mission”, which, I know, is extremely predictable.. However, my veeerry first residency was for a show in Portland called “Trance Mission”, and that title is not really used anymore, but it brings back great memories for me. So, screw it, there’s probably 10,000 other mixes called Trance Mission, but this is the DJ Gotek version haha, and I’ll make it a series. Couple shout-outs on this demo set: first of all I loaded it up with some super-charged tracks from some of my favorite go-to Uplifting artists, Billy Gillies, Craig Connally, Temple One, etc. so a few extra doses of major spine tingles. The lyrics to the Lost Witness track, “Carry Me Home” really reminded me of having to put my 17-year-old, blind Pug, Stella, to sleep a few years ago, and I was literally crying when I played that track and singing along. Such a beautiful, and deeply heart-breaking song (to me). And lastly, I finished the mix with a classic from 2011 that I have been meaning to play for such a long time, Lifted Emotion, “In My Dreams”, fit so perfectly into this vocals-centric mix as a beautuful way to end it. Anyway, had a lot of fun with this one, and I hope you like it. This (to me) is the true spirit of Uplifting Trance, to me, and if you’re feeling down and you listen to this, you will be uplifted. “Trance Mission, June 2024 Edition” an Uplifting Trance demo mix, recorded live June 16th, 2024

Hey guys, hope you’ve been having an awesome summer!! Hard to believe that it is nearly September, when summer starts winding down, kids go back to school, and the beginnings of Fall start showing up here and there, my favorite season. Well, as you can tell, it’s been a very slow summer, DJ-gig-wise, which has kind of worked out for me because I have been buried at my job all summer long, but I also really miss playing in the clubs, and am hopeful the Seattle Trance scene will start picking up again with more shows in the Fall. Meanwhile, I never stop listening to, buying, and collecting music, so shows or no shows, I’ll always continue recording my live demo mixes. And, speaking of, I just recorded the latest in my “Prog Sessions” progressive house demo series, last weekend. I had a lot of amazing music to choose from, and had to spend a lot of time whittling it down to just 15 tracks, but I was really happy the way this one turned out, with brand new releases from some of my go-to progressive artists including Genix, ANUQRAM, PROFF, LTN, Paul Arcane, and I was SOOOO happy the insanely awesome Yeadon remix of Genix’s “Lights, Sound, Camera, Action” released the very day I recorded the mix!!! I had been checking Beatport every day since I first heard it, and it’s definitely my Fave track on the mix. Anyway, I’ve found that to keep the quality level to my very high standards for these things, my goal is always to have a set where I never feel like fast forwarding through any tracks, therefore I usually won’t have enough A-list tracks stored up to record one every month (I am quite picky haha), but I will try to get one out every other month. And meanwhile, I’ll continue working on my “Mission Trance” uplifting trance demo mixes as well, with about the same bi-monthly cadence haha. As usual, hope you enjoy!! Cheers! -Mark a.k.a. Gotek

“Prog Sessions, August 2024 Edition” a Progressive demo mix, recorded live Aug 17th, 2024

Hey guys!! Well on Saturday, September 14th, I had a very special honor of being on the opening roster for the one-and-only, MARKUS SCHULZ, which was definitely a Bucket List DJ/Producer to open for, for me.. I’ve been a fan of Markus since the early days of my trance obsession, the early 2000’s, and have purchased so many of his tracks over the years, and/or tracks from his label, Coldharbour Recordings, not to mention being an avid listener of his weekly podcast, Global DJ Broadcast. For this show, Markus had his own opener, Tim Clark, so I got the early spot, and unfortunately was only given a 45 minute time slot to allow for some extended sets for the headliners. Also, I was bummed that I didn’t get to meet Markus or get my token “Headliner selfie” haha, which sucked, but oh well, I was just happy to be there and get to play some music for a packed club, even for the early spot. For this set I wanted to keep it pretty progressive and slower BPM’s, but I really liked this blend of tracks, and also had to pull in a few of my faves from my recent “Prog Sessions” demo mix, because they were just too good to not bust out for a live club session. On Saturday, October 5th, I was honored to open for KRISTINA SKY, an LA-based Progressive & Trance DJ/Producer, who’s been around for a couple decades and has been recognized as ranked # 13 on TrancePodium's Top 100 DJs, and # 39 on America's Best DJ, having played so many festivals and guest DJ appearances on so many global Trance DJ shows and podcasts throughout the years. I have met Kristina in the past, and it was so cool to see her again, and reconnect with such a nice and sincere person and DJ. This set was so much fun to play, I had just opened for Markus Schulz a few weeks before and was just still coming down from that high, so I was stoked to be offered this show so quickly afterwards, especially since I hadn’t played a show since April before that. This is one of those sets where every track just fell together and created such an incredible vibe, and really allowed me to connect with the audience at a very personal level. On May 16, 2015, I was honored to be one of the opening DJ’s at Foundation nightclub, Seattle, for two up-and-coming DJ/Producer stars, LOST KINGS from L.A., and Swedish DJ/Producer, Prinz Adrian Johannes Hynne, better known as ADRIAN LUX, along with AUDIOH and EMERGE warming up the decks beforehand. It was a totally awesome show, and a super fun set for me to play because I had a lot of friends and workmates show up to see my set which always makes it more memorable and exhilarating to be up there behind the decks. I am a huge fan of Adrian Lux and this was actually the 2nd time I’ve had the honor of being an opener for him in Seattle, the first time having been the Foundation NYE party two years ago, Dec 31, 2013, which was an incredible time as well. Anyway, only had 40 minutes for this set, so loaded it up with some deep, melodic and euphoric House, spiced up with a little Progressive. Hope you enjoy! -M

On top of that I got to play a B2B set with my good friend and DJ mentor, Dj Zoxy, huge DJ talent and icon in the NW Trance scene, and I think our two styles of Trance came together to make a really beautiful mix. Our set was one of three B2B sets that night, which was kicked off by Portland DJ’s Rubin Sarafinchan and Kyle McDaniel, and finished off with two other huge Seattle DJ’s, Eric Weber a.k.a. DJ WEB, and the one-and-only, Johnny Monsoon. The crowd that night was incredible with so much positive energy and everyone was totally into the music on that hot summer eve, truly was an awesome night that I will never forget. First show of the New Year!!! On Saturday, January 2nd, 2016, I was honored to be invited down to Portland, OR, to spin a set for a very special "138 BPM" edition of the recurring MISSION TRANCE show, which is put on monthly by my dear friend and fellow DJ/promoter, ZOXY. This is always a super fun show to play at with a great line-up of local resident DJ's and is frequented by the greatest group of loyal Portland Trance fans and friends, so there is always great energy at the club and lots of smiling faces in the crowd. Anyway, it's not very often that I get to play 138 BPM Trance, which is really at the core of my being and what originally got me addicted to the whole underground Euro electronic music scene in the first place back in the 90's, so I tried to pick a line-up of brand new tracks mixed with an assortment of precious vintage tracks that I have always wanted to spin live, including rare gems like "Aura Indigo" by Mirco de Govia,  "The Sun" by Scott Mac & Drax, and kicked it of with one of my ALLLLLL-TIME-FAVE classic breaks vocal tracks, "Faith" by Starecase, sped up to 138, her voice hits a tone that just drives me wild haha...and I think what I ended up with was a pretty special hour spent!!! This is the actual set that was recorded live at the club, just Voice ID's were added, that's it! Hope you enjoy!!! =)

Mission Trance 138 BPM show - RECORDED LIVE at Whiskey Bar, Jan 2nd, 2016

On the eve of Tuesday, May 14th, I finally got around to forcing myself to record a chill and progressivy semi-Balearic beach-themed demo mix that I entitled "Somewhere Over Ibiza", a mix that I had been planning and working on for probably 6 months or more. It all starts with an idea, and by the time I recorded this the entire mix had probably been abolished and re-worked something like 7 or 8 times, and most of the original tracks that inspired the mix in the first place didn’t end up making the final cut as it turned out (happens a lot actually). One of the reasons it took so long is I really wanted this to be (in my opinion) the perfect chill out ambient mix, and I kept coming across better and better tracks that I fell in love with, and the track list of “MUST HAVE'S” grew and grew until it was impossibly long, so I had to pain-stakenly go through and whittle it down to just 17 tracks, which was actually 3-4 tracks longer than I intended, but I believe that these are all exquisite, dreamy, spine-tingly, beautiful, gorgeous tracks of equal quality throughout, and that you will enjoy, hopefully multiple times! I set out to record a set that had a chill, beachy and/or "summer twilight on the terrace or poolside" vibe, not all necessarily the quintessential “Balearic” approved quality with the cliché acoustic guitar riffs etc, definitely some straight Progressive House and even a bit of Progressive Trance in there to keep things interesting and on the euphoric side, but I made sure all the tracks sounded great together, were in key, and offered a very gradual build and then tapered off into a chill-out remix of one of my all-time favorite tracks that I always need to include some iteration of in any beach-themed mix, Mike Foyle’s eternally beautiful piano version of “Shipwrecked”. Also, to enhance the beach ambiance I have added some recorded samples of tropical nature, birds, and the surf from various exotic beaches from around the world by plugging in my iPhone to the mixer in an unused channel and bringing in the sounds at opportune times to enhance the music. Lastly, just had a few new Voice ID Tags made and inserted by my beloved sound producer, Chris Dececio in the UK, as a finishing touch. Melodic Progressive House Demo - SOMEWHERE OVER IBIZA, recorded live on May 14, 2016

Decided to record a new chill proggy-deep demo set to kick off 2017, sort of in a holding pattern in between shows, but meanwhile the music keep flowing endlessly and I can’t sit idle for too long haha.. I intended this mix to be a more ambient and Deep set, but did some genre blending and kind of started off more progressive and transitioned over into Deep House territory and then back into some lovely Progressive Trance for the last 5 or so tracks. So a little bit of a bi-polar demo per se (haha), but it seems to have a really nice vibe and was a really fun set to record. I hope that you enjoy it.. Cheers!! -Mark

On Friday, Jan 19th, 2018, I was honored to be on the opening roster for a truly classic and household name for anyone who’s been listening to this type of music since the far earlier days; iconic UK record producer and DJ, CHICANE. This was a sold-out show and it turned out to be an absolutely mesmerizing and magical evening with SO many people and fans of all ages who came out to see Chicane weave his progressive magic. I had the middle 10-11pm opening slot in between two of my favorites in Seattle, Janice Chae a.k.a. J-Note and Eric Weber a.k.a. WEB, and we literally had the dance floor full all night with these enchanting sounds and people having the greatest time; it was truly a night I will never forget. I hope you enjoy the set! =)

Opening set for CHICANE at Club Contour, Seattle, Fri, Jan 19, 2018

On Friday, July 19th, I was incredibly honored to be on the opening roster, along with my good buddy, Eric Weber a.k.a. WEB, for world-renown Serbian Trance & Progressive producer/DJ and honestly one of my favorite artists of all-time, VINTAGE & MORELLI, for his debut US tour with the Silk Music Showcase # 500. I have probably played more Vintage & Morelli tracks in my sets than any other artist, and have always been fascinated and mesmerized by his ethereal, haunting, melodic style, mastery of the angelic piano chords in his tracks, and always building in that infectious hook into his songs that just tug at your heartstrings in such a wonderful way!! Marko Cubric (V&M) was such an amazingly sweet and humble guy, and I had the opportunity to chat with him for about 30 minutes after my set and ask all the questions I ever wanted to ask, and really tell him what a huge fan I've been of his music! It was definitely a “bucket list” DJ night for me. The crowd was so incredibly AWESOME that night and I really tried to put together a down-tempo, ethereal, and atmospheric set that would really set up the night nicely, and was really happy to see so many people out on the dance floor dancing during my time behind the decks. Seattle's Mark McCarthy a.k.a. Note: Mark only uses AIFF lossless quality tracks mostly purchased at Beatport.com (except for producer demos). All mixes were either recorded live in the club or directly from Mark's gear (DJM A9 Mixer, 2 Pioneer CDJ3000's) recorded on a Zoom H4n Pro in WAV format, then professionally sound leveled post-recording, Voice ID Tagged, and  converted to MP3 by Chris Dececio Studios in the UK. EVERY single mix on Mark's Soundcloud was recorded live and in the moment on top-notch Pioneer DJ gear, not mixed with computer software, so they might not be exactly perfect 100% of the time, but they are "real", which is a standard of mix quality, authenticity, care, passion for live mixing, and DJ integrity Gotek is proud of. =)
