Brand new!! Just uploaded this set that I recorded on the 4th of July, and it’s a combination of emotive, euphoric, summery-vibe tracks that I just loved. This mix was inspired by the joyous feelings we’re experiencing of finally coming out of COVID lock-down, being able to see friends and family and even people’s smiles again (w/o masks), and it just so happened that I went to see my very first DJ show on June 30th, which was also the day that the State of Washington removed most COVID-19 restrictions. To coincide with that ceremonious occasion, we had Anjunadeep rising star, Tom Marshall, a.k.a. MARSH, for the FIRST “Sunset Sessions On the Hiyu” DJ boat cruise since the pandemic began, and also my first show, of any sort whatsoever, since then as well. I am cautiously optimistic that life is returning back to normal, but I can’t imagine a more perfect event to have kicked it off than seeing Marsh play live out on the water in the lovely Puget Sound. I took that draw-bridge picture for the cover art for this mix from that very boat cruise as well! Anyway, I had been working on this demo set for a while and got to play it live at my DJ buddy Eric Weber’s annual DJ BBQ down in Tacoma, which was a blast, and also submitted a version of it for a guest DJ mix for DJ friend in Portland's “PFB Radio” podcast, but I really liked how this set turned out, and I hope you like it too. I know COVID is still here and not everyone is out of the woods yet, so no matter where you're located, just stay positive my friends, make sure to get vaccinated if you haven’t already (if you’re able to), and we’ll all get through this together. Progressive House demo mix "Electric Blue Seattle", recorded live July 4th, 2021

On Saturday, August 14th, THIS was a big one for me….. I was beyond honored to find out, just one week before this event, which I already had purchased tickets for, that I would be the opening DJ for world-renown German Trance legend, Nic Chagall of COSMIC GATE, on the “Sunset Sessions on the HIYU” DJ Cruise, Saturday, August 14th, 2021. I am pretty much speechless about this one, almost impossible to describe this amazing day, but also it was a really cool "full circle" for me because Cosmic Gate was my very first opener show in Seattle on May 11th, 2013, at club a called Foundation, just a few years after I moved up here, so it was such an honor to be able to share the decks with Cosmic Gate again after all these years. This show sold out in 3 minutes, so unfortunately there were a lot of people who wanted to go that couldn’t, but for those whom were able to attend, it was such a perfect NW summer day out on the beautiful Lake Washington and Elliott Bay, with such a special group of amazing friends and Trance Family that attended, the euphoric vibes were through the roof....truly a magical experience that I will never forget.. Originally, I was told I would be playing from 4:30-5:30pm, then it was off to the Cosmos, but my set got lengthened by over 20 minutes, so by the time I handed the decks off to Nic the cruise was well underway, and it was such a thrill seeing all the people dancing and having a great time to my set. I’m still kind of walking on clouds from that day, it really seemed like it was just a dream, just a bunch beautiful smiling faces, high fives, pats on the back, sweaty hugs, and a blur of amazing music and beautiful water scenery. Opening set for COSMIC GATE "Sunset Sessions on the HIYU", Sat, Aug 14th, 2021, Seattle, WA

On Friday, August 19th, I was incredibly honored to be on the opening roster for Canadian Anjunadeep rising star, SIMON DOTY, at Q Nightclub in Seattle. This was such a fun show, and ironically just the weekend before I had the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be the only opener for Cosmic Gate on a Seattle DJ boat cruise around Lake Washington called “Sunset Session on the HIYU”, and the two Simon Doty tracks I played during that set were probably my favorite in the whole mix, so Simon was already on my radar as being one of my favorite new up-and-coming DJ/producers out there, and to hand off the decks to him was a total blast and honor, super nice and humble guy, and his set was incredibly mesmerizing, so much so that most everyone stayed until the very end on a Thursday night, me included! I shared the decks with a couple other great DJ’s that night, Oxymoron (a.k.a. Alex Henkens, a good buddy of mine and a great producer in his own right, formerly known as FFM), and Tommy T. It was my first time playing at Q Nightclub, located in Capital Hill, Seattle, a beautiful, large club with an amazing sound system, and the crowd that night was super amazing and supportive, fun to play to, and as usual, yet another unforgettable evening.. I knew Simon plays at around 123-125-ish, so I played a really down-tempo and ethereal deep progressive set and it seemed to resonate with he audience that evening, which was awesome. On January 29th, 2022, I was honored to be on the opening roster for UK Trance legend and true pioneer from the very early days of Trance music, JOHN OO FLEMING, at Ora Nightclub, Seattle. This was another one of those "Pinch me, am I dreaming?" moments for me haha, as I have been a fan of JOOF since way back at the beginning when I first started to discover this world of Trance and Progressive, so it was such a thrill to be able to warm up the CDJ's for this incredibly talented individual, whom has truly stood the test of time, and has contributed so much to the Trance scene over the past couple decades. Anyway, it's been a while for me, with COVID going around I haven't been going out to many shows, and haven't had an opportunity to play live since the Sunny LAX show back in October. So, on top of the thrill of seeing John OO perform live for the first time ever, it was just so great to see so many familiar, smiling faces and friends having a good time on the dancefloor, and to finally start feeling alive again. I loaded this set up with some gems that I have been listening to and collecting over the past few months, and it was such a fun set to play. Opening set for JOHN OO FLEMING, Ora, Seattle, Jan 29th, 2022

On Friday, April 1st, I was beyond humbled and honored to be the single opening DJ for a world-class Trancer from the Netherlands, who’s been a pioneer and influencer on the Uplifting Trance genre for nearly 20 years, one whom I’ve been a huge fan of since the early 2000’s, MENNO DE JONG. Menno intended to do his “Farewell Tour” before the pandemic hit, and he had to postpone it until now, but this is basically his last tour around the globe and he’s going to be trying to spend more time with his family and focus on other interests. Seattle was his first stop on the US leg of his tour, and it was such a “bucket-lister” for me to be able to play this show and hand off the decks to this legend. I tried to put together a euphoric, vibey set for this one and build it into a Trancey finish,  and basically had to rework the entire set twice to fit the hot new Sound Quelle remix of Audien’s ”One Last Dance” in there (sort of seemed appropriate for the Menno farewell tour), but I really liked how this one turned out, and it was awesome seeing the dancefloor fill and people dancing and cheering during the set. I really hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed playing it, and wishing the very best of luck to Menno and his future adventures in life, the global Trance scene is eternally grateful to this guy!! Opening set for MENNO DE JONG, “Farewell Tour”, Ora, Seattle, Fri, April 1, 2022

On Saturday, April 30th, 2022, I was honored to be on the opening roster to perform a B2B (back-to-back) set, paired up with my long-time Seattle DJ friend, the lovely Janice Chae, a.k.a. J-NOTE, for none other than one of the true Godfathers of the Trance scene, legendary UK Trance artist and record producer, PAUL OAKENFOLD. Truth be known, it was Paul Oakenfold that originally sent me spiraling into the world of Trance, from which I never have emerged again, in 1998 when I first heard his album “Tranceport” at Disney World in Orlando, FL. That album blew my mind and it sent me into this mad frenzy to find more and more of this music called Trance, which led me down the rabbit hole to other artists over the next few years like Tiesto, Mirco de Govia, Ronski Speed, Kyau & Albert, NuNRG, Andy Moor, Mike Shiver, Armin van Buuren, Paul van Dyk, Cosmic Gate, and eventually Above & Beyond, ANJUNA, etc, but that whole journey for me had a definitive starting point, “the Big Bang” as it were, and for me that was Paul Oakenfold… So, this show really felt like a going the full circle for me, and was just a really amazing night. It was also my good friend Eric Weber’s birthday, and he DJ’d an amazing all-classics Birthday set right after us, so it was truly a night to remember, and the club was totally packed with Trance fans and had an incredible energy to play to. Janice and I didn’t rehearse this set, we just set rough guidelines for general BPM and feel, and to try to have tracks that were easier to mix into, but what you hear on this set is what we figured out organically as we played through our 70-minute time slot. It was a total blast, and getting to “open for” and actually meet Paul Oakenfold was a definite bucket list item checked off for me. What a night!! GOTEK & J-NOTE opening B2B set for PAUL OAKENFOLD, Ora, Seattle, Sat, April 30th, 2022

On Saturday, June 4th, 2022, I was beyond honored to open and hand off the decks to rising Anjunadeep star DJ/record producer, NOX VAHN, an incredibly talented and relevant name in the industry, known for his addictive dark techno vibes. To be honest, I didn't have a lot of lead time to prepare for this set, and I had to put a bit more forethought into planning for this one because Nox Vahn is slightly outside of the "comfort zone" of my usual sound on shows I get booked for, which tends to be on the more uplifting, melodic, progressive trance side of things, whereas Nox Vahn (to me) seems a bit more on the darker side for Anjuna. However, I love a good challenge(!), so I tried to come up with a more ambient, vibey feel to this set, not necessarily "dark" per se, but certainly not bright either, and maintained an undercurrent of some dreamy, more subtle melody, just to stay true to what I consider to be the "Gotek sound", whatever that is haha. As it turned out, it’s one of those funny things in life when you change things up and worry no one is going to like it, but I had numerous people come up to me afterwards and tell me this was one of their favorite sets that they’d ever heard by me, which I was surprised to hear, frankly, but very pleasantly so haha. On top of that, just like with the GIUSEPPE OTTAVIANI show a few weeks before this, Nox Vahn came out into the stage a little later than expected so I was able to play a slightly extended set (by 15 min) to a full house, which is always a blast. Anyway, Holy Cow, what an AWESOME night, the Anjuna crowd came out en-masse to support Nox Vahn, and the Trance Family Love and beautiful vibey feelings of Anjuna were in the air for sure, just a blurred memory of hands in the air and smiling faces dancing away all night, the BEST thrill I can imagine. Opening set for NOX VAHN, Ora Nightclub, Seattle, Sat, June 4th, 2022

On Friday, January 6th, I was honored to play my very first show of the New Year at ORA Nightclub in downtown Seattle, and this one was for a fun Trance and Progressive local Seattle DJ’s night called “Illuminate”. For this Illuminate it was an all B2B sets (B2B = “back-to-back”, 2 DJ’s playing a set together) night, and I was lucky enough to once again be paired up with one of my favorite local talents, the lovely Janice Chae, a.k.a. J-Note. If you’ve listened to some of my more recent mixes you’ve probably heard Janice and I spin together before, opening for the likes of Paul Oakenfold and Oliver Smith within the past 6 months. So, I am always excited to B2B with Janice and I really love how her taste in music works so well with mine and we always have so much fun and many laughs up there behind the decks. It ended up being a great night and we had a really good turn out at the club for a “local’s night”, so it was extra fun to play to a bunch of great people whom were there to have a fun time and dance the night away. Originally this Illuminate was announced to be an "Anjuna Tribute night", but that changed towards the end, however Janice and I were already working on getting an Anjuna playlist together, so we stuck with our original plan, since we both adore the Anjuna record labels, and played a magical playlist of may of our more recent Fave Anjuna tracks, plus one massive golden oldie by Mat Zo slipped in there thanks to Janice and I really loved hearing that one again after so many years. Even though I mostly only am able to DJ Progressive House and/or Progressive Trance (sub-130 BPM Trance) when I play out in clubs, Uplifting Trance will always be my original love and passion for this music, and it was the spring well that led to all of these other genres in the decades that followed. To me, nothing can ever quite make you feel that weightless feeling of those massive, dizzying Uplifting Trance break downs, euphoric builds, and spine-tingly crescendos.. Anyway, I’ll always have a soft spot in my heart for the Uplifting stuff, and will always continuously buy a few here and there when I hear something special, collecting them as the months go by. Occasionally when the mood strikes, (and more often then not there "might" be a few cocktails involved haha) I’ll start kicking around a set list and experiment with it on the CDJ’s, and when the stars align, I hit the “record” button on my digital recorder and see what I end up with. This is one of those, recorded on Saturday, January 21st, on a chilly, grey winter day here in Seattle, but reminiscing about my recent vacation in beautiful sunny Hawaii, and some of the tracks I was listening to while I was there….always remembering that no matter how grey and dismal things get around here, there is a magical paradise somewhere out there, just waiting for us, and music can help us get there. I have also been thinking about a lot of older classics lately, so made sure to throw some golden oldies in on this one, as well as a few recent amazing remixes of classics. ~ As a side note, I heard Richard Durand’s “Save You” on a recent Trance Sanctuary podcast, and the beautiful, heartfelt lyrics of Christina Novelli reminded me of my very, very, very best friend from High School, Kent Bench, whom was and always will be my dearest friend. Kent tragically passed away a few years ago from liver disease associated with alcoholism, and it was beyond crushing to me and everyone whom loved Kent. These lyrics reminded me of that time, no matter how much I desperately wanted to save Kent, there ended up being nothing anyone could do to reverse the course of this horrible disease, and he slipped away. Anyway, sorry to be depressing, and I really hope none of you ever have to go through something like that. I dedicate this mix to my best friend, Kent. I love and miss you buddy. <3

“Winter in Paradise” an Uplifting Trance demo mix, recorded live Sat, Jan 21st, 2023

So, this mix was intended to be an experiment, just to play with some deep progressive and organic house tracks that I have compiling for my next (hopefully) progressive house opening set, which is at this time a primary support spot for GENIX on Feb 11th, which I am very excited about!! Most of these tracks ended up being a bit too mellow for my Genix set, but I did manage to hit “record” on my digital recorder before I played it, just so I could listen to this later while working or driving, etc, my favorite times to listen to more introspective, thought and emotion-provoking music. After I listened to it a few times I realized that this set actually turned out kinda special, the tracks really went well together, so thought I would post it as a demo set anyway, just in case anyone else might enjoy it as well. One thing to call out is the opening track “Last of Us” by Vintage & Morelli, I actually bought a few years ago and believe it or not this is actually a 100 BPM track, which is insanely slow for a DJ set, e.g. usually the very lowest I will go would be in the neighborhood of 118 BPM or so, but I could hear that this track has these amazing qualities that probably would be better consumed at faster BPM’s and I always wanted to experiment with it, like I finally did on this set! I love how it sounds at 116 BPM, the very fastest I could speed it up on my CDJ’s, and it almost has that “Grand Theft Auto 3” opening track vibe (only PC gamers will get that reference haha), so chill and layered with euphoric complexity, albeit the ocean wave sounds towards the end sound quite ridiculous speeded up that fast haha.. oh well.. Oh!! And also, I chopped up the Forty Cats' beauty, "Zen", with hot cues a bit, because I needed to hear that beautiful piano breakdown more than just once haha.. Anyway, thought I would explain some of the background on this one, if anyone even reads these things haha. If you ARE reading this, I hope you enjoy this peaceful set, “Introspections”. “Introspections” a Deep Progressive demo mix, recorded live Jan 31st, 2023

So, I’ve hinted that this mix was coming on my Gotek FB page etc, but I’ve noticed that I’ve been gravitating to my collection of much older, “vintage”, Uplifting Trance tracks (early-to-mid 2000’s, before 2010), many of which I originally purchased on vinyl, some of which were only ever released in vinyl format, back in the day when I would hear something on DI.FM and frantically search the internet for it, when you often times would be paying $15-$30 bucks for a “white label” piece of vinyl to be shipped to you from Europe somewhere, long before the convenience of the Internet and paying $2.50 for immediate gratification to download a lossless file. Back in the days when Trance was still forming, when the tracks were 8-9 minutes long and sounded rawer and more primitive, but still some of the most spine-tingly stuff I have ever heard. Well, a couple of weekends ago I decided to record a classics mix on the CDJ's to listen to later from Dropbox (something I do once in a while for music to listen to in the backyard while I was BBQ’ing, etc). So I went to my music collection and sorted by date, and was frankly surprised how many MP3’s I had that had no date or other metadata because they were so old, so I compiled a list of tracks I hadn’t heard in many years, and this is what I ended up with. Truth be known, I did go back and repurchase many of these tracks in AIFF (lossless) format from Beatport, because some of those ancient MP3’s just didn’t have the sound quality I needed, but there still were several MP3’s used to mix this set from tracks that weren’t available to re-buy as lossless files anywhere online. This mix has been professionally sound-leveled, and preserved in the original WAV format that I recorded it in,  for that added punch of sound quality on those extra old files, but I also sort of don't mind the MP3's for the extra emphasis on that "vintage" (slightly crappy) sound quality anyway haha. For me, this mix really brought back a lot of fond memories from a couple decades ago, when Uplifting Trance was much newer and pure, still just coalescing and finding it's place, and the feelings it conjures up are pure magic. I called this one “White Label”, and plan to have a vintage Trance series of the same now. I hope you feel the same way as I do when you hear it, enjoy!! -Mark a.k.a. “White Label” a Classic Trance demo mix: 001, recorded live Feb 13th, 2023

Hey guys, well, I had SO much fun recording the first White Label Classic trance mix, and received a lot of much-appreciated positive feedback on it, that I AM BACK with another Classic Uplifting Trance mix for ya, with White Label 002!! I really dug deep on this one and used even more MP3’s than on the first one because some of this stuff is so rare it’s no longer available to purchase, and/or only released on vinyl. I did my best with sound leveling to make sure the recording volume is consistent from track to track, but some of this still stuff is just so old that it wasn’t great sound quality, hopefully it sounds okay. I had to take several tries at recording this and really had to play with the tracks and placement, but I think I got it right in the end, however I’ll let you be the judges haha. One thing I noticed is I heavily indexed on Ronski Speed on this set, but truth be told it was really Ronski’s sound that I obsessed with in the early years of building interest in Trance, and we have a lot to thank Ronski for in all of his pioneering and influence in this uplifting trance sound in the very early days, some of my very favorite stuff of all-time. Also loaded it up with some other golden oldies and rare gems and I really like the way this one turned out. “White Label” a Classic Trance demo mix: 002, recorded live March 5th, 2023

Hey guys, well here it is, # 4 on my Classic Trance series, White Label!! I’ve been working on this one for weeks and finally recorded a take that I liked last Saturday on May 13th, and have been listening to it non-stop ever since haha. I really had to play with the track order on this one, but I think I finally got the right blend of vocal and instrumental uplifting trance, and if you’re a fan of the classics you’ll for sure recognize some of these gems from yesteryear, as well as maybe hear a few that are a little more off the beaten path that you may have missed, like Terradia - Drowning in Dreams, I bought that on MP3 in the mid-2000’s and I don’t believe it’s still available anywhere, was so great to  dig that one out and hear it again!! So many of these other tracks I haven’t listened to in 10 or 15 years, so many huge tracks and artists from yesteryear that give me goosebumps still to this day.. It's actually really shocking, the shelf-life on all these songs, especially once I’ve gone out and repurchased them as lossless files, they (to me) sound even better now than they perhaps did back then, they just keep getting better with age. Anyway, I had a lot of fun with the journey to record this set and I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed playing it!! I’ll probably be able to make 2-3 more of these before I run out of classics that I am passionate about, so look for those over the following months. And BTW, I will be opening for Japanese rising star Trancer, the lovely, RINALY, this weekend at ORA Nightclub in Seattle, and I will be playing some Uplifting Trance for that one in the low 130's, a bit faster than I usually get to play live, so CAN’T WAIT for that one haha!! On Friday, May 19th, I recorded a demo set of some dreamy, relaxing proggy stuff that I have been listening to and collecting for the past couple months, literally to upload to dropbox so I could listen to it in the backyard BBQ’ing on a beautiful, early summer evening haha, the night before the Rinaly show at Ora, which was last Saturday (AND, a totally awesome time!!! My set should also be uploaded sometime soon). I actually did try to record this once before several weekends before that but I didn’t like a few things about it and cut the recording off midway through, but this time it turned out pretty cool, so I thought I would share. “Summer Prog – May 2023 ” a progressive house demo mix, recorded live May 19th, 2023

On Sunday, December 31st, I was thrilled to have been invited back down to Portland, Oregon, to play a New Year’s Eve 2024 Trance Party at Opaline Nightclub, for the 2nd year in a row!! Opaline is a neat, kind of intimate little club in the heart of the NW “Old Town” district of downtown Portland, and it was a total blast to be down there again spinning some Trance with my old DJ buddies from yesteryear; Zoxy, Scott Vorel, and Tim Clang, guys from the old “Mission Trance” days when I had a once-a-month residency at the “Whiskey Bar” in Portland for a few years, over a decade ago.. Whiskey Bar has sadly since closed down during COVID, and ironically, I had to walk by the boarded up building where it once was, to get to Opaline, I could still feel the energy and almost hear the Oonz Oonz Oonz coming out of there like the old days, a lot of fond memories and ghosts from a better time emanating from within. As soon as I found out that my set time was from 12am to 1am, starting right after the New Year’s Champaign Toast at Midnight, I immediately knew that I needed to kick off the set with the CLASSIC “Moonlight Party” by Fonzerelli, to get a bit of that early nostalgic Tiesto “In Search of Sunrise” vibe, and to set up the total party mood to keep people dancing and on the dance floor. From there, I just decided to keep it all Classics, and played a smattering of some of my very favorite tracks, ranging from 2005 to 2016, but mostly centered around the early 20-teens, to align with that magical era when I was playing the Mission Trance at the Whiskey Bar in Portland and Foundation in Seattle, when there were SOOOOO many incredible Progressive Trance tracks coming out back then. Anyway, the DJ coming on after me took some extra time coming up to the DJ booth so I got to sneak in a few extra tracks past my 1-hour time slot, and also I ratcheted it up to some Uplifting Trance at the end, which was fun. Also, this set was RECORDED LIVE directly from the mixer at the club, and unfortunately the first track got cut off on the recording a bit.. Oh well.. Guest set for ”New Years Eve 2024 at Opaline”, Recorded LIVE on Sunday, December 31st, 2023

On Saturday, February 10th, 2024, I was extremely honored to find myself back behind the decks as an opening DJ for none other than Mr. “Perfecto” himself; world-renown, globe-trotting Trance pioneer and early EDM influencer, PAUL OAKENFOLD, at ORA, Seattle!! Paul’s album “Tranceport” was my very first Trance CD in 1998 and will always be one of my very favorite live-mixed Trance sets and what really sparked my soon-to-be hardcore obsession with Trance from that moment forward. This dapper fellow was even bestowed an honorary award from Queen Elizabeth on behalf of the British Empire as a “Pioneer of the Nation” for his contributions to dance music. I opened, along with rising star DJ, Sloane Motion, as the local support, and Paul has his own label opener “BLKLGHT”. I was 2nd DJ on and was super excited to see that the club was pretty full when I started, and by the time I reached the halfway point of my set the dancefloor was packed with the smiling faces of Trance fans, hands in the air, so it was a total blast. This set was so much fun to play and I was able to cram in 15 tracks of mostly instrumental Progressive Trance, so it’s a really cool, euphoric journey through sound and I received a ton of compliments from people in the audience once I came down off the stage, which is always a fantastic feeling to get that kind of real-time positive feedback on something I had put a lot of work into preparing for. Anyway, here it is, and I hope that you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed playing it!! Lastly, I just played again last weekend down at Opaline Nightclub in Portland for a local DJ’s Trance night, and that was also a lot of fun and I should have that set also uploaded here for streaming shortly. Opening set for PAUL OAKENFOLD, Ora, Seattle, Sat, Feb 10th, 2024

Hey guys, just like the last edition of Prog Sessions, I’ve been working on this one for a while and have recorded it numerous times and changed things around quite a bit. I recorded this iteration of it a couple weekends ago on Saturday, March 2nd, and I really liked how it turned out, so it’s a keeper. I felt that this one turned out how I had intended it to, relaxing and sublime, with a nice, mesmerizing journey through sound. One thing to note is that, the 2nd track, “Silence If You Fall” by Alex H, I first heard on complication back in December while on vacation in Kona, Hawaii, and I listened to this track again and again for my whole trip, I loved it so much.. Frustratingly it wasn’t released until just recently, but I knew as soon as it came out it would be my impetus to build a mix around it, such a wonderful, amazing track that just makes me feel like I am floating haha.. Anyway, without going into too much additional (and probably needless) detail, I welcome you to Prog Sessions, March Edition, and hope that you enjoy the mix!! PS: the photo is one I took on my vacation to Japan back in October; that was from an early morning walk on the beach in Hamamatsu, and yes those are my footprints haha. “Prog Sessions, March 2024 Edition” a progressive house demo mix, recorded live March 2nd, 2024

On Friday, April 12th I was incredibly honored and excited to be able to warm up the decks, along with my good DJ buddy, Serjey Andre Kul, for the one-and-only, beloved Irish Trance DJ/Producer and early pioneer in this music, Mr. PURE Trance himself, Richard Mowatt, or more commonly known as.. SOLARSTONE, at Ora Seattle. This was my third time getting to open for Richard, and as expected, it was a night of beautiful, euphoric, vibey Trance and Progressive that I was so happy to be a part of. On these rare occasions when I get to open numerous times for the same famous, globe-trotting DJ/Producers like Solarstone, it adds a special element of fun to it because they always remember me like we’re old friends haha, which just makes it all the more special of an experience. Also, Richard has such a loyal following and it was awesome to see all these fans show up for the chance to shake his hand, get autographs, or just old friends who’ve seen him play for decades, there to say hello to a dear friend. It was really cool. One funny little note about this mix, this DJ booth was a newer downstairs edition to the club that I hadn’t played on yet, and it had slightly older CDJ’s and I was having issues getting my SD memory stick to load, so in the commotion I accidentally started with my very last track first. I meant to kick this set off with Nils Hoffmann, “Closer”, but the DJ before me somehow set it to my last track and I didn’t notice until after I already transitioned it in. So, it was one of those serendipitous things where I had a bonus track at the very end that I didn’t think I’d get to, which was Yotto, AVIRA, ALSO ASTIR, “Forget”, accidentally get played first, and it was GREAT and the crowd loved it!! Hey guys, welcome to the next iteration of Prog Sessions, April 2024 edition!! This one sort of happened by accident; I’d been working on my set for Solarstone and I was going through all of my recently purchased music, and for tracks that I thought were too mellow for the Solarstone show I was throwing them into a folder I just called “April Prog”, but I noticed later that I actually had a ton of great tracks in there so made a note to go back and see if I had the right elements to get a playlist to work.. I wanted to record a set to listen to for Saturday night BBQ, something I frequently do haha. So, I did, on that Saturday the 13th, this is what happened, and after I listened to it I knew I had a keeper. Probably “TMI” haha, but that’s literally how this set came to be, whereas many of my previous "Prog Sessions" sets took me numerous tries and probably weeks of trial and error to get to a version that I thought was good enough for streaming, so this was a pleasant surprise!! :D Anyway, without going into too much additional boring detail, I welcome you to Prog Sessions, April Edition, and hope that you enjoy the mix as much as I did recording it!! PS: the photo is one I took on my vacation to Germany back in October of 2022 for Oktoberfest; that was from a morning walk through a huge square in Stuttgart called Schlossplatz, and it has these two enormous and beautiful fountains, which were built in honor of King William of Württemberg, in 1863. The two landmarks are popular sights for tourists and visitors to Königstraße in Stuttgart, and I’ve always loved seeing them whenever I am there. I thought that photo would be perfect for this mix. “Prog Sessions, April 2024 Edition” a progressive house demo mix, recorded live April 13th, 2024

Hey Guys, getting the next iteration of my Progressive House series, “Prog Sessions” in just under the wire for May here haha. I was figuring that I would call it “June Edition”, but since the cover art is an awesome photo, taken over my house by my neighbor across the street, of the Aurora Borealis caused by the solar storm that so many people saw around the world during the month of May, and also in honor of my Dad’s 87th Birthday, which is TODAY (May 30th), I am sticking with “May Edition” for this one!! I have been struggling with time lately, as my “real job” has been super busy, so I haven’t had much time to work on DJ stuff lately. But I (of course) keep listening and constantly buying new music, and I had this massive stockpile of awesome new tunes building up, so much so that I really had a severe case of writer’s block with this one and had no idea where to start. So last weekend I spent hours downloading and arranging tracks and got it narrowed down to about 50 “keeper” tracks, then managed to narrow it down to the lucky 13 on this set, and recorded it on Monday, memorial Day Holiday.. I just recorded this the one time and that was it; all the tracks just worked together beautifully, which is rare for a one-time recording session!! Lastly, I usually try to put 14 tracks on these Prog demos, but Warung’s EPIC track, “All We Have Is Time”, seemed like such a great place to end it, and also loved the irony because all I DON'T have is time these days haha, so I stopped the recording there. “Prog Sessions, May 2024 edition” a progressive house demo mix, recorded live May 27th, 2024

Hey guys, well it’s been a while since I posted any Uplifting Trance demo mixes.. Well, guess what, I’M BACK!!! (Haha) Truth be known, regardless of how long I go in between Uplifting Trance sets, I still do listen to it, my first love in this type of music, before Progressive House or anything else, Uplifting Trance of the 138-140 BPM caliber was what originally hooked me into this world and scene and encouraged me to buy my first set of DJ gear and force myself to learn how to play, on vinyl back then.. Anyway, I still listen to it all the time, and am always researching and buying new tracks to add to my collection. You’ll notice with this one that there is a HELLUVA-LOTTA Vocal Trance on this one compared to my usual selections, but oh man, there are SO many amazing vocal tracks coming out these days, so I couldn’t resist. You may also possibly notice that I am attempting to programatize these demos, just like with my “Prog Sessions” progressive house demo mixes, I am starting a new series for Hi-NRG Uplifting “138”-type tracks, and I am calling it “Trance Mission”, which, I know, is extremely predictable.. However, my veeerry first residency was for a show in Portland called “Trance Mission”, and that title is not really used anymore, but it brings back great memories for me. So, screw it, there’s probably 10,000 other mixes called Trance Mission, but this is the DJ Gotek version haha, and I’ll make it a series. Couple shout-outs on this demo set: first of all I loaded it up with some super-charged tracks from some of my favorite go-to Uplifting artists, Billy Gillies, Craig Connally, Temple One, etc. so a few extra doses of major spine tingles. The lyrics to the Lost Witness track, “Carry Me Home” really reminded me of having to put my 17-year-old, blind Pug, Stella, to sleep a few years ago, and I was literally crying when I played that track and singing along. Such a beautiful, and deeply heart-breaking song (to me). And lastly, I finished the mix with a classic from 2011 that I have been meaning to play for such a long time, Lifted Emotion, “In My Dreams”, fit so perfectly into this vocals-centric mix as a beautuful way to end it. Anyway, had a lot of fun with this one, and I hope you like it. This (to me) is the true spirit of Uplifting Trance, to me, and if you’re feeling down and you listen to this, you will be uplifted. “Trance Mission, June 2024 Edition” an Uplifting Trance demo mix, recorded live June 16th, 2024

Hey guys, hope you’ve been having an awesome summer!! Hard to believe that it is nearly September, when summer starts winding down, kids go back to school, and the beginnings of Fall start showing up here and there, my favorite season. Well, as you can tell, it’s been a very slow summer, DJ-gig-wise, which has kind of worked out for me because I have been buried at my job all summer long, but I also really miss playing in the clubs, and am hopeful the Seattle Trance scene will start picking up again with more shows in the Fall. Meanwhile, I never stop listening to, buying, and collecting music, so shows or no shows, I’ll always continue recording my live demo mixes. And, speaking of, I just recorded the latest in my “Prog Sessions” progressive house demo series, last weekend. I had a lot of amazing music to choose from, and had to spend a lot of time whittling it down to just 15 tracks, but I was really happy the way this one turned out, with brand new releases from some of my go-to progressive artists including Genix, ANUQRAM, PROFF, LTN, Paul Arcane, and I was SOOOO happy the insanely awesome Yeadon remix of Genix’s “Lights, Sound, Camera, Action” released the very day I recorded the mix!!! I had been checking Beatport every day since I first heard it, and it’s definitely my Fave track on the mix. Anyway, I’ve found that to keep the quality level to my very high standards for these things, my goal is always to have a set where I never feel like fast forwarding through any tracks, therefore I usually won’t have enough A-list tracks stored up to record one every month (I am quite picky haha), but I will try to get one out every other month. And meanwhile, I’ll continue working on my “Mission Trance” uplifting trance demo mixes as well, with about the same bi-monthly cadence haha. As usual, hope you enjoy!! Cheers! -Mark a.k.a. Gotek

“Prog Sessions, August 2024 Edition” a Progressive demo mix, recorded live Aug 17th, 2024

Hey guys!! Well on Saturday, September 14th, I had a very special honor of being on the opening roster for the one-and-only, MARKUS SCHULZ, which was definitely a Bucket List DJ/Producer to open for, for me.. I’ve been a fan of Markus since the early days of my trance obsession, the early 2000’s, and have purchased so many of his tracks over the years, and/or tracks from his label, Coldharbour Recordings, not to mention being an avid listener of his weekly podcast, Global DJ Broadcast. For this show, Markus had his own opener, Tim Clark, so I got the early spot, and unfortunately was only given a 45 minute time slot to allow for some extended sets for the headliners. Also, I was bummed that I didn’t get to meet Markus or get my token “Headliner selfie” haha, which sucked, but oh well, I was just happy to be there and get to play some music for a packed club, even for the early spot. For this set I wanted to keep it pretty progressive and slower BPM’s, but I really liked this blend of tracks, and also had to pull in a few of my faves from my recent “Prog Sessions” demo mix, because they were just too good to not bust out for a live club session. On Saturday, October 5th, I was honored to open for KRISTINA SKY, an LA-based Progressive & Trance DJ/Producer, who’s been around for a couple decades and has been recognized as ranked # 13 on TrancePodium's Top 100 DJs, and # 39 on America's Best DJ, having played so many festivals and guest DJ appearances on so many global Trance DJ shows and podcasts throughout the years. I have met Kristina in the past, and it was so cool to see her again, and reconnect with such a nice and sincere person and DJ. This set was so much fun to play, I had just opened for Markus Schulz a few weeks before and was just still coming down from that high, so I was stoked to be offered this show so quickly afterwards, especially since I hadn’t played a show since April before that. This is one of those sets where every track just fell together and created such an incredible vibe, and really allowed me to connect with the audience at a very personal level. Opening set for KRISTINA SKY, Ora, Seattle, Oct 5th, 2024

Hey guys, Happy New Year!!! Hard to believe it’s already January 6th and year has begun and is waiting for no one, ready or not haha. So… I tried really, really hard to get this mix out before the end of 2024, and wanted to call it “Year End Mix”, but I had to re-record it several times in December before I got just the right take that I liked, and it ran my sound guy who levels my mixes for streaming out of time before he took some vacation at the end of the year. So, looks like we are kicking off the New Year with an Uplifting Trance set, vs. closing off last year. With that said, and as you probably know by now, Uplifting, Euphoric 138-140 BPM Trance will always be my first love in this music, that got me started off in my passion for Trance back in the late 90’s.. So I will always continue to have a warm place in my heart for this music, regardless of its crests and troughs in popularity. This mostly instrumental mix is absolutely dripping with euphoric highs, giant, breath-taking break downs and crescendos, and is featuring some of my favorite Uplifting Trance artists, such as Craig Connelly, Alex Wright, Nitrous Oxide, Lostly, Activa, John Askew, Paul Miller, and I kick it off with such a banger and, subsequently, the only vocal track on the mix, “Oceans”, by DJ T.H., SUCH a great track.. The artist highlight on this mix is definitely Alex Wright, and I played 4 of his tracks in this set, whereas I did the same thing for Craig Connelly in the last Trance Mission set. Just couldn’t get enough of Alex’s sound in this mix, such the perfect Uplifting Trance that talented guy creates. And BTW, the mix art was from a picture I took in Hawaii in December, my favorite place. Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy this journey through uplifting sounds as much as I did playing it!! “Trance Mission, January 2025 Edition” an Uplifting Trance demo mix, recorded live 12/28/24

Hey guys, hope everyone’s having a Happy New Year so far! So, as I mentioned on my Facebook page, I tried to get this next iteration of my “Prog Sessions” demo series finished in December. I think I recorded it at least four times, and each time I felt it wasn’t quite ready for uploading here and released into the wild, it could be better. So I kept whittling away at it, and now it’s practically an entirely different mix than what I started with, but I am very happy with it. It might even be my favorite of the series so far haha. So (for me at least) the wait was worth it. Anyway, we are all our own wort critics I suppose, but I love every track on this mix, and love the journey through sound aspect of this mix, with a little something for everyone, some twists a turns through mostly instrumental melodic Progressive sounds, some more Housey, some a little more moody and ambient Deep Progressive “Guy J” kind of vibes, and even a dash of Progressive Trance. The highlight of this set is one of the only truly vocal tracks in the mix, the LTN remix of “Wait Forever” by Estiva. I first heard a bootleg of this track on YouTube probably a year ago and was so in love with this track, but it never released. Finally, I JUST found a radio edit of it, and had to use some looping and hot cues to make it work in this mix, but I just can’t get enough of this gorgeous track. “Prog Sessions, January 2025 Edition” a progressive house demo mix, recorded live Jan 11th, 2025

On the eve of Tuesday, May 14th, I finally got around to forcing myself to record a chill and progressivy semi-Balearic beach-themed demo mix that I entitled "Somewhere Over Ibiza", a mix that I had been planning and working on for probably 6 months or more. It all starts with an idea, and by the time I recorded this the entire mix had probably been abolished and re-worked something like 7 or 8 times, and most of the original tracks that inspired the mix in the first place didn’t end up making the final cut as it turned out (happens a lot actually). One of the reasons it took so long is I really wanted this to be (in my opinion) the perfect chill out ambient mix, and I kept coming across better and better tracks that I fell in love with, and the track list of “MUST HAVE'S” grew and grew until it was impossibly long, so I had to pain-stakenly go through and whittle it down to just 17 tracks, which was actually 3-4 tracks longer than I intended, but I believe that these are all exquisite, dreamy, spine-tingly, beautiful, gorgeous tracks of equal quality throughout, and that you will enjoy, hopefully multiple times! I set out to record a set that had a chill, beachy and/or "summer twilight on the terrace or poolside" vibe, not all necessarily the quintessential “Balearic” approved quality with the cliché acoustic guitar riffs etc, definitely some straight Progressive House and even a bit of Progressive Trance in there to keep things interesting and on the euphoric side, but I made sure all the tracks sounded great together, were in key, and offered a very gradual build and then tapered off into a chill-out remix of one of my all-time favorite tracks that I always need to include some iteration of in any beach-themed mix, Mike Foyle’s eternally beautiful piano version of “Shipwrecked”. Also, to enhance the beach ambiance I have added some recorded samples of tropical nature, birds, and the surf from various exotic beaches from around the world by plugging in my iPhone to the mixer in an unused channel and bringing in the sounds at opportune times to enhance the music. Lastly, just had a few new Voice ID Tags made and inserted by my beloved sound producer, Chris Dececio in the UK, as a finishing touch. Melodic Progressive House Demo - SOMEWHERE OVER IBIZA, recorded live on May 14, 2016

Brand New!! On Friday, April 28th, 2017, I was beyond honored to open for one of my All-Time FAVES; seasoned veteran of many years on the ANJUNABEATS label, producer of SOOOOOO many of my favorite tracks, and whom I have been a huge fan of for 13+ years, Levente Márton from Hungary, better known as SUNNY LAX. On top of that I was able to provide direct support and was the 3rd DJ that night to a packed club and handed off directly to Sunny himself. This was such a dream-like and incredible experience, the crowd that night was so amazing, people were reaching over the top on the DJ booth to touch hands, and the Trance and ANJUNA love was definitely a force to be reckoned with as Seattle is super excited about the honor of Above & Beyond selecting Washington State for the upcoming ABGT 250 in the Gorge Amphitheater in September later this year, so Sunny Lax being in town shortly after the announcement was beyond perfect timing for everyone to express their happiness. It was so amazing getting to shake Levente's hand and have him sign some of my Vinyl from yesteryear up in the DJ booth, and his Anjuna set was unbelievable; he played for 3.5 hours straight of his newer stuff and Trance classics, plus all the Trance anthem A&B and Anjunabeats tracks you were hoping to hear and the crowd went wild the entire time, what a night!!!  Anyway, I loved every minute of this set and hope you do too, kicked it off with a Melodic Progressive beautiful track that I cannot stop listening to and ratcheted it up to some punchy Trance in the middle, then slowed it back down a bit for the hand off. Was able to sneak a few Anjunadeep tracks in there as well, including Sunday by Oliver Smith, a track that I always wanted to play live and this was the perfect time to get everyone in that euphoric Anjuna mood. Opening set for SUNNY LAX show at Underground, Seattle, Fri, April 28, 2017

On Friday, Jan 19th, 2018, I was honored to be on the opening roster for a truly classic and household name for anyone who’s been listening to this type of music since the far earlier days; iconic UK record producer and DJ, CHICANE. This was a sold-out show and it turned out to be an absolutely mesmerizing and magical evening with SO many people and fans of all ages who came out to see Chicane weave his progressive magic. I had the middle 10-11pm opening slot in between two of my favorites in Seattle, Janice Chae a.k.a. J-Note and Eric Weber a.k.a. WEB, and we literally had the dance floor full all night with these enchanting sounds and people having the greatest time; it was truly a night I will never forget. I hope you enjoy the set! =)

On Friday, July 19th, I was incredibly honored to be on the opening roster, along with my good buddy, Eric Weber a.k.a. WEB, for world-renown Serbian Trance & Progressive producer/DJ and honestly one of my favorite artists of all-time, VINTAGE & MORELLI, for his debut US tour with the Silk Music Showcase # 500. I have probably played more Vintage & Morelli tracks in my sets than any other artist, and have always been fascinated and mesmerized by his ethereal, haunting, melodic style, mastery of the angelic piano chords in his tracks, and always building in that infectious hook into his songs that just tug at your heartstrings in such a wonderful way!! Marko Cubric (V&M) was such an amazingly sweet and humble guy, and I had the opportunity to chat with him for about 30 minutes after my set and ask all the questions I ever wanted to ask, and really tell him what a huge fan I've been of his music! It was definitely a “bucket list” DJ night for me. The crowd was so incredibly AWESOME that night and I really tried to put together a down-tempo, ethereal, and atmospheric set that would really set up the night nicely, and was really happy to see so many people out on the dance floor dancing during my time behind the decks. All mixes were either recorded live in the club or directly from Mark's gear (DJM A9 Mixer, 2 Pioneer CDJ3000's) recorded on a Zoom H4n Pro in WAV format, then professionally sound leveled post-recording, Voice ID Tagged, and  converted to MP3 by Chris Dececio Studios in the UK. EVERY single mix on Mark's Soundcloud was recorded live and in the moment on top-notch Pioneer DJ gear, not mixed with computer software, so they might not be exactly perfect 100% of the time, but they are "real", which is a standard of mix quality, authenticity, care, passion for live mixing, and DJ integrity Gotek is proud of. =)
