On Saturday, August 14th, THIS was a big one for me….. I was beyond honored to find out, just one week before this event, which I already had purchased tickets for, that I would be the opening DJ for world-renown German Trance legend, Nic Chagall of COSMIC GATE, on the “Sunset Sessions on the HIYU” DJ Cruise, Saturday, August 14th, 2021. I am pretty much speechless about this one, almost impossible to describe this amazing day, but also it was a really cool "full circle" for me because Cosmic Gate was my very first opener show in Seattle on May 11th, 2013, at club a called Foundation, just a few years after I moved up here, so it was such an honor to be able to share the decks with Cosmic Gate again after all these years. This show sold out in 3 minutes, so unfortunately there were a lot of people who wanted to go that couldn’t, but for those whom were able to attend, it was such a perfect NW summer day out on the beautiful Lake Washington and Elliott Bay, with such a special group of amazing friends and Trance Family that attended, the euphoric vibes were through the roof....truly a magical experience that I will never forget.. Originally, I was told I would be playing from 4:30-5:30pm, then it was off to the Cosmos, but my set got lengthened by over 20 minutes, so by the time I handed the decks off to Nic the cruise was well underway, and it was such a thrill seeing all the people dancing and having a great time to my set. I’m still kind of walking on clouds from that day, it really seemed like it was just a dream, just a bunch beautiful smiling faces, high fives, pats on the back, sweaty hugs, and a blur of amazing music and beautiful water scenery. LUUCA vs. Yotto (2021 Update) Mix #2

On Saturday, September 18th, 2021, I was incredibly honored to open for a couple of my long-time top favorites and two incredibly talented individuals who’s songs have been featured in so many of my sets; rising star Canadian progressive house DJ/producer, Derek Silvester, a.k.a.. DEZZA, and French electronic dance music prodigy, David Ciekanski, better known by his stage name, MATT FAX, who basically began writing music at the age of 13 and encountered early success with support from renowned DJs and artists around the world, such as Depeche Mode, Armin van Buuren, Above & Beyond and Gareth Emery. On top of everything else, while I was playing my set, which by the way was the first set played on Ora’s newly installed EAW sound system, which sounded absolutely incredible, one of the first people out  on the dance floor watching the set was this tall dude wearing an Anjuna t-shirt, whom I later discovered was none other than Devon Ausman, otherwise known as HAUSMAN, another one of my all-time favorites whom had driven all the way from Boise, ID, to see the show, and whom I got to meet and talk to after my set. It was so incredible to meet these guys, and talk to them about their music, ask them questions and learn about their backgrounds, that was such a thrill for me. I was truly in the presence of Progressive/Trance greatness. Seattle's Mark McCarthy a.k.a. DJ Gotek always strives to create a feeling of euphoria with his mixes which are consistently heavy on the dreamlike and spine-tingly electronic sounds, regardless of which genre he’s playing in; Mark’s passion is to move people by bringing the very best in in Trance and Progressive to his audiences, and hopefully it shines through in the mixes he creates.

Note: Mark only uses AIFF lossless quality tracks mostly purchased at Beatport.com (except for producer demos). All mixes were either recorded live in the club or directly from Mark's gear (DJM A9 Mixer, 2 Pioneer CDJ3000's) recorded on a Zoom H4n Pro in WAV format, then professionally sound leveled post-recording, Voice ID Tagged, and  converted to MP3 by Chris Dececio Studios in the UK. EVERY single mix on Mark's Soundcloud was recorded live and in the moment on top-notch Pioneer DJ gear, not mixed with computer software, so they might not be exactly perfect 100% of the time, but they are "real", which is a standard of mix quality, authenticity, care, passion for live mixing, and DJ integrity Gotek is proud of. =)
