Hey guys, well it’s been a while since I posted any Uplifting Trance demo mixes.. Well, guess what, I’M BACK!!! (Haha) Truth be known, regardless of how long I go in between Uplifting Trance sets, I still do listen to it, my first love in this type of music, before Progressive House or anything else, Uplifting Trance of the 138-140 BPM caliber was what originally hooked me into this world and scene and encouraged me to buy my first set of DJ gear and force myself to learn how to play, on vinyl back then.. Anyway, I still listen to it all the time, and am always researching and buying new tracks to add to my collection. You’ll notice with this one that there is a HELLUVA-LOTTA Vocal Trance on this one compared to my usual selections, but oh man, there are SO many amazing vocal tracks coming out these days, so I couldn’t resist. You may also possibly notice that I am attempting to programatize these demos, just like with my “Prog Sessions” progressive house demo mixes, I am starting a new series for Hi-NRG Uplifting “138”-type tracks, and I am calling it “Trance Mission”, which, I know, is extremely predictable.. However, my veeerry first residency was for a show in Portland called “Trance Mission”, and that title is not really used anymore, but it brings back great memories for me. So, screw it, there’s probably 10,000 other mixes called Trance Mission, but this is the DJ Gotek version haha, and I’ll make it a series. Couple shout-outs on this demo set: first of all I loaded it up with some super-charged tracks from some of my favorite go-to Uplifting artists, Billy Gillies, Craig Connally, Temple One, etc. so a few extra doses of major spine tingles. The lyrics to the Lost Witness track, “Carry Me Home” really reminded me of having to put my 17-year-old, blind Pug, Stella, to sleep a few years ago, and I was literally crying when I played that track and singing along. Such a beautiful, and deeply heart-breaking song (to me). And lastly, I finished the mix with a classic from 2011 that I have been meaning to play for such a long time, Lifted Emotion, “In My Dreams”, fit so perfectly into this vocals-centric mix as a beautuful way to end it. Anyway, had a lot of fun with this one, and I hope you like it. This (to me) is the true spirit of Uplifting Trance, to me, and if you’re feeling down and you listen to this, you will be uplifted. “Trance Mission, June 2024 Edition” an Uplifting Trance demo mix, recorded live June 16th, 2024

Hey guys, hope you’ve been having an awesome summer!! Hard to believe that it is nearly September, when summer starts winding down, kids go back to school, and the beginnings of Fall start showing up here and there, my favorite season. Well, as you can tell, it’s been a very slow summer, DJ-gig-wise, which has kind of worked out for me because I have been buried at my job all summer long, but I also really miss playing in the clubs, and am hopeful the Seattle Trance scene will start picking up again with more shows in the Fall. Meanwhile, I never stop listening to, buying, and collecting music, so shows or no shows, I’ll always continue recording my live demo mixes. And, speaking of, I just recorded the latest in my “Prog Sessions” progressive house demo series, last weekend. I had a lot of amazing music to choose from, and had to spend a lot of time whittling it down to just 15 tracks, but I was really happy the way this one turned out, with brand new releases from some of my go-to progressive artists including Genix, ANUQRAM, PROFF, LTN, Paul Arcane, and I was SOOOO happy the insanely awesome Yeadon remix of Genix’s “Lights, Sound, Camera, Action” released the very day I recorded the mix!!! I had been checking Beatport every day since I first heard it, and it’s definitely my Fave track on the mix. Anyway, I’ve found that to keep the quality level to my very high standards for these things, my goal is always to have a set where I never feel like fast forwarding through any tracks, therefore I usually won’t have enough A-list tracks stored up to record one every month (I am quite picky haha), but I will try to get one out every other month. And meanwhile, I’ll continue working on my “Mission Trance” uplifting trance demo mixes as well, with about the same bi-monthly cadence haha. As usual, hope you enjoy!! Cheers! -Mark a.k.a. Gotek

“Prog Sessions, August 2024 Edition” a Progressive demo mix, recorded live Aug 17th, 2024

Hey guys!! Well on Saturday, September 14th, I had a very special honor of being on the opening roster for the one-and-only, MARKUS SCHULZ, which was definitely a Bucket List DJ/Producer to open for, for me.. I’ve been a fan of Markus since the early days of my trance obsession, the early 2000’s, and have purchased so many of his tracks over the years, and/or tracks from his label, Coldharbour Recordings, not to mention being an avid listener of his weekly podcast, Global DJ Broadcast. For this show, Markus had his own opener, Tim Clark, so I got the early spot, and unfortunately was only given a 45 minute time slot to allow for some extended sets for the headliners. Also, I was bummed that I didn’t get to meet Markus or get my token “Headliner selfie” haha, which sucked, but oh well, I was just happy to be there and get to play some music for a packed club, even for the early spot. For this set I wanted to keep it pretty progressive and slower BPM’s, but I really liked this blend of tracks, and also had to pull in a few of my faves from my recent “Prog Sessions” demo mix, because they were just too good to not bust out for a live club session. On Saturday, October 5th, I was honored to open for KRISTINA SKY, an LA-based Progressive & Trance DJ/Producer, who’s been around for a couple decades and has been recognized as ranked # 13 on TrancePodium's Top 100 DJs, and # 39 on America's Best DJ, having played so many festivals and guest DJ appearances on so many global Trance DJ shows and podcasts throughout the years. I have met Kristina in the past, and it was so cool to see her again, and reconnect with such a nice and sincere person and DJ. This set was so much fun to play, I had just opened for Markus Schulz a few weeks before and was just still coming down from that high, so I was stoked to be offered this show so quickly afterwards, especially since I hadn’t played a show since April before that. This is one of those sets where every track just fell together and created such an incredible vibe, and really allowed me to connect with the audience at a very personal level. Hey guys, Happy New Year!!! Hard to believe it’s already January 6th and year has begun and is waiting for no one, ready or not haha. So… I tried really, really hard to get this mix out before the end of 2024, and wanted to call it “Year End Mix”, but I had to re-record it several times in December before I got just the right take that I liked, and it ran my sound guy who levels my mixes for streaming out of time before he took some vacation at the end of the year. So, looks like we are kicking off the New Year with an Uplifting Trance set, vs. closing off last year. With that said, and as you probably know by now, Uplifting, Euphoric 138-140 BPM Trance will always be my first love in this music, that got me started off in my passion for Trance back in the late 90’s.. So I will always continue to have a warm place in my heart for this music, regardless of its crests and troughs in popularity. This mostly instrumental mix is absolutely dripping with euphoric highs, giant, breath-taking break downs and crescendos, and is featuring some of my favorite Uplifting Trance artists, such as Craig Connelly, Alex Wright, Nitrous Oxide, Lostly, Activa, John Askew, Paul Miller, and I kick it off with such a banger and, subsequently, the only vocal track on the mix, “Oceans”, by DJ T.H., SUCH a great track.. The artist highlight on this mix is definitely Alex Wright, and I played 4 of his tracks in this set, whereas I did the same thing for Craig Connelly in the last Trance Mission set. Just couldn’t get enough of Alex’s sound in this mix, such the perfect Uplifting Trance that talented guy creates. And BTW, the mix art was from a picture I took in Hawaii in December, my favorite place. Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy this journey through uplifting sounds as much as I did playing it!! Also, I should have the next iteration of "Prog Sessions" series done sometime soon, as well as a New Years B2B set I played at Ora with Eric Weber, a.k.a. WEB, so keep your eye out for those.. “Trance Mission, January 2025 Edition” an Uplifting Trance demo mix, recorded live 12/28/24

Hey guys, hope everyone’s having a Happy New Year so far! So, as I mentioned on my Facebook page, I tried to get this next iteration of my “Prog Sessions” demo series finished in December. I think I recorded it at least four times, and each time I felt it wasn’t quite ready for uploading here and released into the wild, it could be better. So I kept whittling away at it, and now it’s practically an entirely different mix than what I started with, but I am very happy with it. It might even be my favorite of the series so far haha. So (for me at least) the wait was worth it. Anyway, we are all our own wort critics I suppose, but I love every track on this mix, and love the journey through sound aspect of this mix, with a little something for everyone, some twists a turns through mostly instrumental melodic Progressive sounds, some more Housey, some a little more moody and ambient Deep Progressive “Guy J” kind of vibes, and even a dash of Progressive Trance. The highlight of this set is one of the only truly vocal tracks in the mix, the LTN remix of “Wait Forever” by Estiva. I first heard a bootleg of this track on YouTube probably a year ago and was so in love with this track, but it never released. Finally, I JUST found a radio edit of it, and had to use some looping and hot cues to make it work in this mix, but I just can’t get enough of this gorgeous track. “Prog Sessions, January 2025 Edition” a progressive house demo mix, recorded live Jan 11th, 2025

Hey guys, hope everyone’s having a great summer so far! So, I finally got this next iteration of my “Prog Sessions” demo series recorded over the 4th of July weekend! You may have noticed that I have taken a bit of a break on the DJ front this year, and that is primarily because of my actual career “day job” has finally gotten to the point where the workload and stress of my job kind of kills my energy level to work on music during the weekends. Plus, sadly, the Trance/Progressive scene in Seattle is going through a bit of a dry spell, not as many local Trance shows or opportunities for me to be an opener DJ for a headliner, etc. especially since several of my old and beloved “stomping-grounds” NW DJ clubs from yesteryear closed down during COVID.. However, rest assured, the passion will never truly die, and regardless of whether I am posting sets or not, I am still constantly listening, researching, and collecting new music for future DJ sets, so you know I’ll always be back eventually, like a moth to the flame haha. The good news is that, aside from getting out a new Prog Sessions set for your listening pleasure, I do have an awesome show coming up in a couple weeks at ORA Nightclub, where I will be opening for world-famous and beloved Italian DJ/Producer, Giuseppe Ottaviani, on Friday, July 25th!! Can’t WAIT for that one!! So, lastly, I really liked the way this one turned out, it was a one-time-through dry run that I recorded and thought, “that’s it”, that’s exactly what I wanted, that hypnotic journey through sound, beautiful Progressive House ramping into more ethereal Progressive Trance, my happy place.. The photo is one I took on a vacation that I took to Rome about 10 years ago, the beautiful Basilica of St. John Lateran, the oldest public church in Rome, consecrated in 324 CE by Pope Sylvester I. I always loved the way the sunlight played through the clouds in the backdrop, very magical looking. So, this was in honor of Giuseppe Ottaviani, our Roman Trance Champion, coming to Seattle this month!! =)

Prog Sessions, July 2025 Edition - a Progressive demo mix, recorded live July 6th, 2025

On Friday, July 25th, 2025, I was beyond honored to be an opening DJ for, and have the distinct honor of handing the decks off to, none other than world-renown and beloved Italian Trance DJ/Producer and massive Trance pioneer and influencer, Giuseppe Ottaviani, a.k.a. GO, at Ora Nightclub in Seattle!!! This was actually my second time getting to hand off to Giuseppe, the first time was at the Underground in Seattle back in 2016 (that set is also here on Soundcloud if you scroll way down haha), so I was counting my blessings to be able to have another opportunity to support this amazing talent, and super nice, humble gentleman, to boot!! Anyway, if you haven’t noticed, it’s been a while since I have had a legit club show with a headliner, been super focused on my “real” job for the past 6 months, so I was actually feeling pretty nervous before the show, that I might be rusty and not have my “sea legs” about me haha.. However, I put a lot of work into this set leading up to the show, and (as I should have known) I once again discovered that once I started playing, and saw all those beautiful, smiling faces out in the crowd, hands in the air, I immediately felt right at home behind the decks, my happy place, my Zen, and everything went perfectly!! Anyway, I really loved the way this set turned out, and the feedback I got after the show was so amazing as well, lots of sweaty hugs and high fives etc, the best kind of positive affirmation there is haha. Seattle's Mark McCarthy a.k.a. DJ Gotek emerged out of the exploding Electronic Dance Music scene in the Pacific Northwest over the past decade+, and has held residencies at some of the hottest DJ clubs in the NW such as The Underground, Club Contour, and Foundation Nightclub in Seattle and Whiskey Bar in Portland, and also has played at an ever growing list of clubs and venues on the west coast. Specifically noted for his euphoric, uplifting, and melodic Progressive and Trance sets over the past decade, DJ Gotek has found himself being invited to open for some of the world's most prolific and iconic Trance and Progressive DJ/Producers, artists such as Paul van Dyk, Paul Oakenfold, Cosmic Gate, Sunny Lax, Genix, Solarstone, 4 Strings, Aly & Fila, ARTY, Ilan Bluestone, Super8 & Tab, Omnia, Ronski Speed, Orjan Nilson, Roger Shah, Chicane, The Blizzard, Lange, Daniel Kandi, Alex M.O.R.P.H., Gareth Emery, MYON, Max Graham, Andy Moor, Richard Durand, Bobina, Stoneface & Terminal, John OO Fleming, Simon Doty, Dezza, the list grows ever longer.. DJ Gotek always strives to create a feeling of euphoria with his mixes which are consistently heavy on the dreamlike and spine-tingly electronic sounds, regardless of which genre he’s playing in; Mark’s passion is to move people by bringing the very best in in Trance and Progressive to his audiences, and hopefully it shines through in the mixes he creates.

Note: Mark only uses AIFF lossless quality tracks mostly purchased at Beatport.com (except for producer demos). All mixes were either recorded live in the club or directly from Mark's gear (DJM A9 Mixer, 2 Pioneer CDJ3000's) recorded on a Zoom H4n Pro in WAV format, then professionally sound leveled post-recording, Voice ID Tagged, and  converted to MP3 by Chris Dececio Studios in the UK. EVERY single mix on Mark's Soundcloud was recorded live and in the moment on top-notch Pioneer DJ gear, not mixed with computer software, so they might not be exactly perfect 100% of the time, but they are "real", which is a standard of mix quality, authenticity, care, passion for live mixing, and DJ integrity Gotek is proud of. =)

One of the last radio stations in the United States that not only features local/regional content, but never forgets that radio is a one on one mode of communication. And, of course, we bring you classic rock/folk/world music from the 20th Century, but Americana from the last and this century as well.
