On Sunday, January 21st, I recorded this, the next iteration of my Progressive House demo series, which I do every once in a while, when I feel like mixing but I don’t have any good shows coming up that match the music, yet meanwhile the flow of incoming tracks is just too great to ignore.. So, Viola!! Demo Set time haha.. Since I got tired of trying to think of clever new names for each demo set, I’ve just been calling them the month they were recorded in, followed by “Prog”, like “October Prog” late last year. But moving forward, I am going to call them a very generic “Prog Sessions”, because that’s what they are, even though everyone else also uses that same boring naming convention already haha. So, welcome to the January edition of Prog Sessions, the first of the New Year. And truth be known, I’ve been working on this one for an embarrassingly long time, and have actually recorded it several times before last Sunday, but they were never quite the right mix of tracks. I always have a rule for these things, and that is, would I want to listen to it multiple times myself. If the answer is yes, then I have a keeper (usually).. But if the answer is no, I keep on working on it. I figure that I need to make these things for myself first, make something that I love deeply, and hopefully if I get it right, other people might get some joy out of it too. So, with this one, I really now like the blend of Progressive House and Progressive Trance, some more deep and moody, and some more funky and Housey, with the common denominator of emotional and melodic undercurrent throughout. I almost think this one has a theme of “Love Sickness”, with the happy epiphanies of joy, followed by the moments of sadness or depression of longing for someone that maybe doesn’t notice you or like you back in the same way, but I’ll let you be the judge haha. TranceAtlantic vol.17 Mixed By Des Tweedie

Since I usually play deep sets, I decided to play a little more upbeat of a set. Played strictly 124 and 125bpm tracks. This set consisted of lots of throwbacks that I haven't played in a long while. Definitely was not planning on going almost 5hrs lol, but thoroughly enjoyed playing this set. Hope you enjoy as well!

Saturday Night Pop Up (3-30-24)

On Friday, April 12th I was incredibly honored and excited to be able to warm up the decks, along with my good DJ buddy, Serjey Andre Kul, for the one-and-only, beloved Irish Trance DJ/Producer and early pioneer in this music, Mr. PURE Trance himself, Richard Mowatt, or more commonly known as.. SOLARSTONE, at Ora Seattle. This was my third time getting to open for Richard, and as expected, it was a night of beautiful, euphoric, vibey Trance and Progressive that I was so happy to be a part of. On these rare occasions when I get to open numerous times for the same famous, globe-trotting DJ/Producers like Solarstone, it adds a special element of fun to it because they always remember me like we’re old friends haha, which just makes it all the more special of an experience. Also, Richard has such a loyal following and it was awesome to see all these fans show up for the chance to shake his hand, get autographs, or just old friends who’ve seen him play for decades, there to say hello to a dear friend. It was really cool. One funny little note about this mix, this DJ booth was a newer downstairs edition to the club that I hadn’t played on yet, and it had slightly older CDJ’s and I was having issues getting my SD memory stick to load, so in the commotion I accidentally started with my very last track first. I meant to kick this set off with Nils Hoffmann, “Closer”, but the DJ before me somehow set it to my last track and I didn’t notice until after I already transitioned it in. So, it was one of those serendipitous things where I had a bonus track at the very end that I didn’t think I’d get to, which was Yotto, AVIRA, ALSO ASTIR, “Forget”, accidentally get played first, and it was GREAT and the crowd loved it!! On Saturday, November 28, 2015, the November edition of Mission Trance show hit the stage at Whiskey Bar in Portland, OR, and it was a very special Thanksgiving Holiday and double-birthday DJ event called "TRANCEGIVING". I have been lucky enough to have been a fairly consistent member of this show for the past several years, and was honored to make the trip down from Seattle for this one in particular. All I can say is this was just one of those rare nights where all the stars aligned, the positive energy at the club, the special music every DJ played, the crowd that night was so incredible and there was so much TRANCE LOVE and Holiday HAPPINESS in the air, plus it was my birthday weekend along with the founder of the show, DJ Zoxy, on the exact same date as me (Nov 26), truly a stellar, EPIC EVE!!!!! I had so many awesome friends in town for Thanksgiving who came out to the show, plus getting to share the decks with such NW electronic dance music DJ celebs such as Jamie Meushaw, Eddie Pitzul, and DJ Zoxy himself, I can’t imagine a more perfect night. This set was packed with tracks I love, mostly just released, but also spiced up with a few of my faves discovered over the course of 2015, plus this set was 100% recorded LIVE by the club, just added Voice ID tags, that’s it. Note: Mark only uses AIFF lossless quality tracks mostly purchased at Beatport.com (except for producer demos). All mixes were either recorded live in the club or directly from Mark's gear (DJM A9 Mixer, 2 Pioneer CDJ3000's) recorded on a Zoom H4n Pro in WAV format, then professionally sound leveled post-recording, Voice ID Tagged, and  converted to MP3 by Chris Dececio Studios in the UK. EVERY single mix on Mark's Soundcloud was recorded live and in the moment on top-notch Pioneer DJ gear, not mixed with computer software, so they might not be exactly perfect 100% of the time, but they are "real", which is a standard of mix quality, authenticity, care, passion for live mixing, and DJ integrity Gotek is proud of. =)
