It’s also a good time to reflect on the Wheel of the Year, recognizing your successes and letting go of the things that did not serve you during the past twelve months. This mix is for all the Witches tapping into the magic of the season and reminding us of our power to cultivate the world we want to see, one of beauty and abundance for all.

I Love playing Ecstatic Dances because it allows me to explore a wide range of genre's including: Deep House, Organic House, Melodic Techno, Electronica, Funk, Soul, Hip Hop and Ambient.

When I build sets for ecstatic dance it usually follows an arc of energy, like a wave, starting from stillness and moving into a slow steady flowing beat, and then building the energy with faster staccato songs, into fast and ferocious bumpin beats, and then, becoming almost chaotic till the wave of music crashes into blissfull Lyrical music. This brings the dancer back into their bodies and into the moment returning them gently to stillness with some beautiful ambient vocals and sounds to envelope you in the moment so you can fully receive the benefits of the experience.

In October, and especially during Halloween, there is a thinning of the veil between the worlds.

The veil is where we meet our loved ones, guides, and angels. It is a place between the worlds of seen and unseen, known and unknown, living and spirit.

The days are getting shorter, and we are preparing to temporarily withdraw from the realm of life and growth. The harvest cycle is winding down, but it’s not gone completely yet. This represents a transition, or a doorway, or a veil.

Because the veil between the worlds is thin in October, we feel drawn to certain themes at this time of year. There’s no denying that as we approach Halloween, death is a primary cultural symbol. Scary movies, ghosts, graveyards, zombies and skeletons, ways of honoring the dead, like Día De Los Muertos.

This mix was created to honor this time of year when the veil is thin between our world and the spirit world. A time when we can more easily commune with our loved ones who have passed, and our spirit guides.

Witches’s Brew Volume 2 is a magical musical stew that has a strong Mystical base with a hint of Goth, a touch of Tribal, a sprinkling of Funk, a pinch of Psychedelic Rock served up with a driving house beat and polyrhythmic drums, which is then seasoned with my special sauce of electric guitar that is sometimes funky, sometimes spicy, sometimes exotic, and even a bit metal at times.

It begins in stillness with an ambient new age goth sounding track called “The Loom” by Anilah. I have added some haunting Romani inspired guitar to this opening track as a nod to my own ancestors, and to give it a bit more of an edge of mysteriousness. It symbolizes the opening of the veil as we enter this magical dark world.

This song carries us into the Spirit Realm where we are greeted by a trixster of a track that has a message for us - stay light hearted even when things are grim because our spirit guides are with us always.

With the next track, we are starting to get into the groove as we navigate the dark abyss of Voodoo Magic, with Dr John as our guide, where possibilities abound and things are not always what they seem to be.

Next we hear from the late, great, satirical stand up man Mr. Bill Hicks, and the message is clear, “life is like a roller coaster” and it goes up and down, and round and round, but don’t worry because “It’s Just a Ride”!

As the ride continues it builds like a wave of energy bringing us from a slow steady flow, and then, just like life, the road gets a little bumpy with a staccato rhythm, until it starts to flow again. But this time, faster and faster, picking up speed as we enter Chaos. Until, finally the wave crashes into stillness again.

With the closing track “Sky Burial”, also by the amazing goth vocalist Anilah, we have laid our worries to rest and have returned to the world of the Living where we are left with the realization that Death is our Greatest Advisor. It teaches us to live fully in the moment because we never know how much time we have with the ones who are dearest to us.

And, that death is not the end but the beginning of the next great adventure!

This Track was inspired by and named after “The Green Comet” that passed through our solar system this past year.

The Green Comet, otherwise known as C/2022 E3 (ZTF) , made its last close approach to Earth 50,000 years ago when mastodons and woolly mammoths roamed the earth, and great swaths of glaciers covered portions of North America and northern Europe, as the planet went through its last ice age. 

This ghostly green comet, spotted last year by Bryce Bolin and Frank Masci, two modern-day astronomers working at Palomar in southern California, made a very close approach to Earth on Feb. 1 and 2, 2023,  just 43 million km (27 million mi.) from our planet and was visible to the naked eye as a bright green smudge in the northern hemisphere’s skies.

This was a special comet. It was approaching the solar system from above, at a 90-degree angle, as if it were falling down from the sky. This indicated it was not coming from the Kuiper Belt—a band of icy, rocky, comet-like bodies that circles the solar system outside the orbit of Neptune—which sends us comets that fly flat in the plane of the solar system. 

Rather, it was coming from the Oort cloud, a sphere of similar objects that surrounds the solar system much more distantly, with its outer fringes reaching up to two light years away. (It was the trajectory of the comet that also allowed Bolin and Masci to determine its 50,000-year orbital period.)

Then, too there is the comet’s striking brightness and color. Comets flare green when they carry diatomic carbon—two-atom carbon molecules—which reacts with the sun’s outgassing particles, the solar wind. Many comets possess diatomic carbon, but few also approach the sun as closely as C/2022 E3 (ZTF), 

C/2022 E3 (ZTF) also has two tails, rather than the single tail characteristic of most comets. The more common tail is made of dust and ice interacting with the solar wind. The less common second tail is called the ion tail and is made of ionized carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and nitrogen molecules that some comet bodies carry. “The ion tail interacts with charged particles in the solar wind and is pushed in the opposite direction from the sun, along the flow of the wind,” says Bolin.

The Green Comet reminds us that there is always more to be discovered and we are just a drop of water in an endless sea of possibilities, and it instills a sense of awe and wonder.

I hope this track inspires wonder and awe in this magical, mysterious Universe we live in!

I have often heard it said that we need to transcend this physical world and that we should deny our sensual selves in order to attain a higher existence of being. This philosophy has never resonated with me.

 It is my belief that reclaiming our sensual, erotic selves is paramount to fully embrace all that this physical realm has to offer, why else would we be in these physical bodies that are made for experiencing so much pleasure.

To deny this would be to deny our very existence here on this beautiful, erotic, exotic planet and there for shutting ourselves off to this wonderful gift. 

I thank all the artists, performers and musicians who have helped to show us the way back to fully integrating this part of ourselves. And, this song is not only a dedication to this one particular artist but to all the artists who have bravely forged this path back to our sensual, erotic selves.

This is my first remix of 2019! One of my favorite producers - the Ukranian duo of Artur & Batish. I added the gypsy guitar played on a Fender Stratocaster with analog tube, reverb and delay. Hope it transports you to another time and place that is hidden deep inside the past life memories of your Gypsy Heart.

Sand iN yOuR ShOeS - one of my favorite releases of 2018. A quirky dance track by one of my favorite House Music Producers ARTBAT, with some very funky lyrics by Dino Lenny. 
I played this one quite a bit in my live sets through out the year and I felt really connected to it. I would play some trippy electric guitar over it and it really transported me to another place. It has such a great vibe, like being at a sunny beach, with your feet in the warm sand relaxing watching the waves roll by and just savoring LifE ! 
I added a few layers of guitars and some extra percussion as to give some more energy but keep the dreamy feeling. Hope it transports you to a Warm Sunny Beach somewhere Exotic.

Enki (/ˈɛŋki/; Sumerian: dEN.KI(G)𒂗𒆠) is the Sumerian god of water, knowledge (gestú), mischief, crafts (gašam), and creation (nudimmud), and one of the Anunnaki. He was later known as Ea in Akkadian and Babylonian mythology. He was originally patron god of the city of Eridu, but later the influence of his cult spread throughout Mesopotamia and to the Canaanites, Hittites and Hurrians. He was associated with the southern band of constellations called stars of Ea, but also with the constellation AŠ-IKU, the Field (Square of Pegasus).[1] Beginning around the second millennium BCE, he was sometimes referred to in writing by the numeric ideogram for "40", occasionally referred to as his "sacred number".[2][3][4] The planet Mercury, associated with Babylonian Nabu (the son of Marduk) was, in Sumerian times, identified with Enki.

Many myths about Enki have been collected from various sites, stretching from Southern Iraq to the Levantine coast. He is mentioned in the earliest extant cuneiform inscriptions throughout the region and was prominent from the third millennium down to Hellenistic times.

The exact meaning of his name is uncertain: the common translation is "Lord of the Earth". The Sumerian En is translated as a title equivalent to "lord" and was originally a title given to the High Priest. Ki means "earth", but there are theories that ki in this name has another origin, possibly kig of unknown meaning, or kur meaning "mound". The name Ea is allegedly Hurrian in origin while others [5][6] claim that his name 'Ea' is possibly of Semitic origin and may be a derivation from the West-Semitic root *hyy meaning "life" in this case used for "spring", "running water". In Sumerian E-A means "the house of water", and it has been suggested that this was originally the name for the shrine to the god at Eridu. It has also been suggested that the original non-anthropomorphic divinity at Eridu was not Enki but Abzu. The emergence of Enki as the divine lover of Ninhursag, and the divine battle between the younger Igigi divinities and Abzu, saw the Abzu, the underground waters of the Aquifer, becoming the place in which the foundations of the temple were built.[7] With some Sumerian deity names as Enlil there are variations like Elil. En means "Lord" and E means "temple". It is likely that E-A is the Sumerian short form for "Lord of Water", as Enki is a god of water. Ab in Abzu also means water.

Inanna is the ancient Sumerian goddess of love, sensuality, fertility, procreation, and also of war. She later became identified by the Akkadians and Assyrians as the goddess Ishtar, and further with the Hittite Sauska, the Phoenician Astarte and the Greek Aphrodite, among many others. She was also seen as the bright star of the morning and evening, Venus, and identified with the Roman goddess. Inanna is one of the candidates cited as the subject of the Burney Relief (better known as The Queen of the Night), a terracotta relief dating from the reign of Hammurabi of Babylon (1792-1750 BCE) although her sister Ereshkigal is the goddess most likely depicted.

In some myths she is the daughter of Enki, the god of wisdom, fresh water, magic and a number of other elements and aspects of life, while in others she appears as the daughter of Nanna, god of the moon and wisdom. As the daughter of Nanna, she was the twin sister of the sun god Utu/Shamash. Her power and provocation is almost always a defining characteristic in any of the tales told of her.

Talisman Groovemaker is a Sound Alchemist, Story Teller, Musician, DJ and Producer based out of Eugene Oregon. Most recently he had the honor of sharing the stage with Desert Dwellers @ The Big Dirty - the Premier Venue in Eugene, Oregon.

Groovemaker, first and foremost, considers himself to be in service to the dance floor by tuning in to the energy of the moment. Each set of music is custom crafted specifically for the event and environment. His goal is to provide a vehicle for a Transcendental Dance Experience!

Groovemaker got his professional start as a DJ in 2012 when he made his debut at "The Full Moon in June" Festival where he combined his love of LiVE instruments with electronic music in performance for the first time. He then went on to perform and produce the music for the Oregon Country Fair "Fire Theater Show" in 2013 and 2014. In 2015 he played the 3rd Annual Exotic Erotic Ball @ The Historic Armory in Ashland, Oregon, sharing the stage with Ra Ra Avis, formerly of the Desert Dwellers.

Groovemaker was a regularly featured DJ between 2017 and 2019 at "Soul Tribe Sundays” , a popular weekly underground dance music night at Sessions Lounge in Eugene, Oregon. He also headlined the Official Dirtwire After Party in 2018 and 2019.

A few years ago, Talisman became inspired by the work of the Legendary Gabrielle Roth, who was an American dancer and musician in the world 
music and trance dance community who had a special interest in shamanism. She developed a system of using different rhythms with music and dance to facilitate a shamanic experience. Since then, he has made several appearances for the long running Coalessence Ecstatic Dance at The Wow Hall in Eugene, Oregon, and is well versed in the art of Ecstatic Dance.
