Patio Chum is born from a constant juxtaposition between noise and silence, sea and concrete, light and shade. Formed in East Berlin in 2019 by Luciano Musi (AR) on guitars and Mikel Garcia (aka M. Steep) (ES) on vocals/electronics, during endless nights of improvisation.

Patio Chum blends electronica, ambient and rock elements with introvert and intimate lyrical scenarios. The duo gathers influences ranging from Massive Attack, DARKSIDE, Gustavo Cerati or oso leone.

Patio Chum releases its debut EP "Stuck Between Black and Blue" in July 16 via the label {CURRENT_LIAISON}. It features 4 track recorded during 2019 and 2020.

It’s also a good time to reflect on the Wheel of the Year, recognizing your successes and letting go of the things that did not serve you during the past twelve months. This mix is for all the Witches tapping into the magic of the season and reminding us of our power to cultivate the world we want to see, one of beauty and abundance for all.

Luke Mandala / Mandala Affect @ EuDream Campout 2022

In October, and especially during Halloween, there is a thinning of the veil between the worlds.

The veil is where we meet our loved ones, guides, and angels. It is a place between the worlds of seen and unseen, known and unknown, living and spirit.

The days are getting shorter, and we are preparing to temporarily withdraw from the realm of life and growth. The harvest cycle is winding down, but it’s not gone completely yet. This represents a transition, or a doorway, or a veil.

Because the veil between the worlds is thin in October, we feel drawn to certain themes at this time of year. There’s no denying that as we approach Halloween, death is a primary cultural symbol. Scary movies, ghosts, graveyards, zombies and skeletons, ways of honoring the dead, like Día De Los Muertos.

This mix was created to honor this time of year when the veil is thin between our world and the spirit world. A time when we can more easily commune with our loved ones who have passed, and our spirit guides.

Witches’s Brew Volume 2 is a magical musical stew that has a strong Mystical base with a hint of Goth, a touch of Tribal, a sprinkling of Funk, a pinch of Psychedelic Rock served up with a driving house beat and polyrhythmic drums, which is then seasoned with my special sauce of electric guitar that is sometimes funky, sometimes spicy, sometimes exotic, and even a bit metal at times.

It begins in stillness with an ambient new age goth sounding track called “The Loom” by Anilah. I have added some haunting Romani inspired guitar to this opening track as a nod to my own ancestors, and to give it a bit more of an edge of mysteriousness. It symbolizes the opening of the veil as we enter this magical dark world.

This song carries us into the Spirit Realm where we are greeted by a trixster of a track that has a message for us - stay light hearted even when things are grim because our spirit guides are with us always.

With the next track, we are starting to get into the groove as we navigate the dark abyss of Voodoo Magic, with Dr John as our guide, where possibilities abound and things are not always what they seem to be.

Next we hear from the late, great, satirical stand up man Mr. Bill Hicks, and the message is clear, “life is like a roller coaster” and it goes up and down, and round and round, but don’t worry because “It’s Just a Ride”!

As the ride continues it builds like a wave of energy bringing us from a slow steady flow, and then, just like life, the road gets a little bumpy with a staccato rhythm, until it starts to flow again. But this time, faster and faster, picking up speed as we enter Chaos. Until, finally the wave crashes into stillness again.

With the closing track “Sky Burial”, also by the amazing goth vocalist Anilah, we have laid our worries to rest and have returned to the world of the Living where we are left with the realization that Death is our Greatest Advisor. It teaches us to live fully in the moment because we never know how much time we have with the ones who are dearest to us.

And, that death is not the end but the beginning of the next great adventure!

Witches' Brew Volume 2 (Mastered v10)

This Track was inspired by and named after “The Green Comet” that passed through our solar system this past year.

The Green Comet, otherwise known as C/2022 E3 (ZTF) , made its last close approach to Earth 50,000 years ago when mastodons and woolly mammoths roamed the earth, and great swaths of glaciers covered portions of North America and northern Europe, as the planet went through its last ice age. 

This ghostly green comet, spotted last year by Bryce Bolin and Frank Masci, two modern-day astronomers working at Palomar in southern California, made a very close approach to Earth on Feb. 1 and 2, 2023,  just 43 million km (27 million mi.) from our planet and was visible to the naked eye as a bright green smudge in the northern hemisphere’s skies.

This was a special comet. It was approaching the solar system from above, at a 90-degree angle, as if it were falling down from the sky. This indicated it was not coming from the Kuiper Belt—a band of icy, rocky, comet-like bodies that circles the solar system outside the orbit of Neptune—which sends us comets that fly flat in the plane of the solar system. 

Rather, it was coming from the Oort cloud, a sphere of similar objects that surrounds the solar system much more distantly, with its outer fringes reaching up to two light years away. (It was the trajectory of the comet that also allowed Bolin and Masci to determine its 50,000-year orbital period.)

Then, too there is the comet’s striking brightness and color. Comets flare green when they carry diatomic carbon—two-atom carbon molecules—which reacts with the sun’s outgassing particles, the solar wind. Many comets possess diatomic carbon, but few also approach the sun as closely as C/2022 E3 (ZTF), 

C/2022 E3 (ZTF) also has two tails, rather than the single tail characteristic of most comets. The more common tail is made of dust and ice interacting with the solar wind. The less common second tail is called the ion tail and is made of ionized carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and nitrogen molecules that some comet bodies carry. “The ion tail interacts with charged particles in the solar wind and is pushed in the opposite direction from the sun, along the flow of the wind,” says Bolin.

The Green Comet reminds us that there is always more to be discovered and we are just a drop of water in an endless sea of possibilities, and it instills a sense of awe and wonder.

I hope this track inspires wonder and awe in this magical, mysterious Universe we live in!

Was lucky enough to play a set for The Wonky Queenslander Theme Camp and have it live streamed out to the cyber paddock!

A full circle moment considering I had my very first glimpse into the realm of performance at Modifyre just a few years ago, I found myself up late surrounded by a handful of friends and an extensive selection of vinyl in the Last Drinks Caravan at Sunset Ducks and couldn't resist the temptation to play

In that moment I understood what all the hype was about, the connection felt as we danced and sang along together to songs so close to my heart, it lit a spark within me and has led me directly to this moment in time.

Feeling fortunate to be part of a community that inspires, supports and encourages creative escapades proving time and time again that we are limited only by our imagination!

Talisman navigates a variety of musical realms from around the world, mixing organic and electronic sounds that range from: fun and whimsical to dark and mystical, and, slow and sultry to fast and ferocious! 

He masterfully mixes music with Funky Bass, Soulful Lyrics, Mystical Chants, Electronic beats, Tribal Rythms and deep atmospheric sounds from the far recesses of the Multiverse! Often layering Live instrumentation into the mix such as Electric Guitar, Acoustic Guitar and Percussion bringing you into the music, adding excitement, and an element of surprise!

Talisman Groovemaker is a Sound Alchemist, Story Teller, Musician, DJ and Producer based out of Eugene Oregon. Most recently he had the honor of sharing the stage with Luke Mandala & Desert Dwellers @ The Big Dirty - the Premier Venue in Eugene, Oregon.

Groovemaker, first and foremost, considers himself to be in service to the dance floor by tuning in to the energy of the moment. Each set of music is custom crafted specifically for the event and environment. His goal is to provide a vehicle for a Transcendental Dance Experience!

Groovemaker got his professional start as a DJ in 2012 when he made his debut at "The Full Moon in June" Festival where he combined his love of LiVE instruments with electronic music in performance for the first time. He then went on to perform and produce the music for the Oregon Country Fair "Fire Theater Show" in 2013 and 2014. In 2015 he played the 3rd Annual Exotic Erotic Ball @ The Historic Armory in Ashland, Oregon, sharing the stage with Ra Ra Avis, formerly of the Desert Dwellers.

Groovemaker was a regularly featured DJ between 2017 and 2019 at "Soul Tribe Sundays” , a popular weekly underground dance music night at Sessions Lounge in Eugene, Oregon. He also headlined the Official Dirtwire After Party in 2018 and 2019.

A few years ago, Talisman became inspired by the work of the Legendary Gabrielle Roth, who was an American dancer and musician in the world 
music and trance dance community who had a special interest in shamanism. She developed a system of using different rhythms with music and dance to facilitate a shamanic experience. Since then, he has made several appearances for the long running Coalessence Ecstatic Dance at The Wow Hall in Eugene, Oregon, and is well versed in the art of Ecstatic Dance.
