Psychedelectricity is me writing lyrics for a fictitious song title that I read in a comic book story by Grant Morrison almost 30 years ago."

This is one of those stories that starts with a boy finding a book in a dusty attic. 'Weird Legend' drags you across contrasting seascapes, offering different lighting from song to song. Abundant in field recordings from this former sailor officer's favorite beaches of Crimea, this material has sounds of the sea and ocean as a main inspiration. Both gentle and moist in its melodies and as harsh as techno can get in its beats, D. Yaroslav’s (@dyaroslav) debut takes a strong stance and doesn’t fall out of character. Once again, WhyPeopleDance (@whypeopledance) are helping the ones in need. The Dug Up The Bongo founder reached out to the collective with this entrancing material to help Kyiv’s humanitarian fund “Grains of Peace”, started by “20ft radio”.

Sounds Of Porn is Rey Morales (SXDNS221), a seasoned Madrid-based Venezuelan who decided to bring together all his most intimate influences and finally debut in the producing realm. For his very first incursion under the new alias, he came up with a hot mix of Dirty Disco, Nasty House, and Horny Italo-infused cuts. The result, “Dame Duro” EP, lands on the promising German label Ghosting Corporation showing off three sexy originals and their respective remixes made with love and glamour by a true dream team of Indie Dance/Dark Disco superstars: none other than Skelesys (SXDNS139), Karla Lynch (SXDNS358), and Alberto Melloni, who spared no effort to jump in with the best of their games.

Premiered here, “Acido En Madrid” lives up to its name and delivers a bouncing dance floor filler embedded in… yes: a plethora of acid. Moaning vocals, panting synth layers, and sighing leads harmonise to set off an exciting electronic music experience and showcase the capabilities and creativity of our fellow dinosaur.

In 2008, IT signed Miami based electronic musician & live percussionist Armando Martinez, best known as Alpha 606. Born in Miami to Cuban immigrants, he is a multitalented multi instrumentalist. His innovation is in blending the varied history of Electro, 20th Century Avant Garde and his native Cuban influences, ranging from the ritual music of Santeria to the Afro Cuban highs of 1930's Havana. With this stew of influences, he creates a dense and colorful sound, melding advanced electronics with intricately played live hand drums. His style is the definition of a new sound, known as Electrónica Afro-Cubano.

Hell borrowed the title for his second proper album from the Giorgio Moroder supergroup of the '70s, so it's not surprising that Munich Machine looks to disco culture for its starting point. But of course, that's only the starting point. Munich Machine is a varied collection of acid, techno and house that marries Hell's vision of acid-electro to an assortment of straight-ahead dance tracks and a few truly odd covers -- including a stunning remake of the Barry Manilow chestnut "Copacabana" and a reworking of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" with the lion replaced by a dominatrix. It's not exactly a commercial venture, but Munich Machine occasionally possesses the flavor of a retro-disco record like Daft Punk's Homework. - Text by John Bush
