It felt good to be back after being away from the studio for 4 weeks. We've been traveling for the past month spreading The Sound of Tomorrow at SXSW, WMC, and now Asia. The pros of being away for so long meant that Joe stacked up on plenty of music for the past month which makes up for the lost time, trust. There is too much to say and talk about but shout out to all of the amazing people who came out to our shows to see and connect with us. We are very grateful! 

Next week Joe Kay wiil be @ Coachella but that won't stop Soulection Radio this time. Stay tuned.

It's an interesting point in time where Soulection is right now.. we have all the leverage that we need going into 2015 but there is a concern... and that concern is where will the sound direction go in 2015? If you've been to our live shows, you may have noticed a lot of energy and turn up vibes but where is the balance of soul music? This is something that I try to inject and keep in rotation within the radio show. Without soul music there is no Soulection. Can't forget our roots. Your'e gonna hear a lot of classic D'Angelo, Erykah, classics, and overall just good vibes. Someone has to keep the vibe alive.

I've done 7 x 1 hour mixes, solely made up of old tunes sampled in classic Hip Hop tracks - but cut up on two copies / decks to re-create the loops / chops people used.
I didn't use any compilations, reissues, bootlegs, or downloads. All originals. I've always been a digging fiend on the side!
But - to save the original pressings (and also cos it's hard enough to get one copy of some of these, let alone two!) - I loaded them into Serato vinyl, so I could scratch away to my heart's content, with ruining anything!
So here's VOL.1.

This is the first mix of a series that we're starting, titled "Playdutshet". The series is inspired from when making mixtapes were fun to make, as well as to listen to. Definitely not your average b-boy mixtape, but one you'll definitely enjoy...This vol. is loaded with your not so known hard breaks!...Because were both Filipinos, we thought we would have fun and pay homage to our culture, by transforming into our altered egos, as "Uncles".
