Stones Throw & The Beat Junkies did a joint event that was put together by ArtDontSleep in the city of Los Angeles 3 weeks ago (10.26.13). it is the first time that Stones Throw & the Beat Junkies have joined forces to do a special event. Imagine Peanut Butter Wolf, Dam Funk, Prince Paul, Karriem Riggins, Rakaa Iriscience, LMNO, the Cypress Junkies, Jonwayne, & of course, the Beat Junkies all under one roof. Figured it's a good time to re-up this tape from six years ago. I've been hesitant to do so since there's five million J. Dilla tribute tapes out there, but...whatever. Maybe you all will dig this one too! Here are the notes from the original release:

"I really dug Dilla, his choice of records, his lush filtered samples, his basslines, and the fact he loved to eat donuts. I was introduced to his genius by Jumbo of the Lifesavas. He hit me with a dub of the early Slum Village album before it dropped, and told me to dub it and give it back to him the next day, cuz that was his only copy. And even rocking a dub of a dub, the beats were just so ill. I’d bump the shit til I couldn’t take the rhmyes anymore, but I never got tired of the beats.

I’d wanted to do this tape for awhile, and felt I should put something together dedicated to Dilla, as I was a fan of his music. Not every beat or 12 inch, but the feel of his production – he just had a great ear for great records. This tape is a mixture of some of my favorite Dilla-related records (that I own on wax) from well-known to more obscure, from rock to classic hip-hop tracks. It is by no means any kind of compendium, and isn’t meant to be. It’s just a brief sampling of music I dig, music that represents the inspiration I took from Jay Dee."

Em primeiro lugar é sempre bom lembrar do crime ambiental que assolou as praias do Nordeste em 2019 com o derramamento de óleo que atingiu 877 locais que abrangem 127 municípios em 11 Estados brasileiros.
Dito isso resolvi fazer um set para o Universo Paralello em homenagem a um dos maiores músicos da nossa história, Chico Science!! Particularmente, usando músicas e samples do Álbum que revolucionou a música brasileira, o “Da Lama ao Caos”. Também usando esses temas para chamar atenção para o fato de que o evento é realizado em região de Floresta de Restinga e Mangue, que são biomas ameaçados e precisam de muito cuidado, por favor no mínimo recolhe seu lixo!! 
Somado ao momento político horrível que o nosso querido país atravessa escolhi diversas músicas com letras de protesto, não todas, mas um bom número.
Foi incrível tocar na celebração de 20 anos do maior festival de música eletrônica do Brasil !! Que evento fantástico!!

Firstly, it is always good to remember the environmental crime that struck the beaches of the Northeast in 2019 with the oil spill that reached 877 sites covering 127 municipalities in 11 Brazilian states.
That said I decided to do a set for the Universo Paralello Festival in honor to one of the greatest musicians in our history, Chico Science !! Particularly, using songs and samples from the album that revolutionized Brazilian music, "Da Lama ao Caaos". Also using these themes to draw attention to the fact that the event was held in Restinga and Mangrove Forest region, which are threatened biomes and need a lot of care… please collect your fucking garbage !! Added to the horrible political moment that our dear country is going through, I chose several songs with protest lyrics, not all, but a good number.
It was amazing to play at the 20th anniversary celebration of the biggest electronic music festival in Brazil !! What a fantastic event !!
