It was my honor to play this extended set for the inaugural 'Back to Home' installment at Beacon, Denver following David Hohme. So much incredible energy in that space!  I now find myself sharing this mix, resonating in the after glow of the 'Super Flower Blood Moon' Eclipse. After many years of long sets and building dancefloors, i find that there’s a lot of music i’ve played that rarely gets a listen or is eventually forgotten about and over the last few years i’ve been compiling a list of couch music that you don’t neccesarily have to sit down to. This mix has a plethora of those tunes old and new, reflecting on a few quiet years of partying and downtime whilst trying to capture all those special moments from the late night Love Camp Couch. What a pleasure it is to have been able to put this together for such an awesome mix series!

This year (2022) has marked my 4th year attending the Burning Man festival in the Black Rock Desert.

I played a few sets this past year but this one was by far my favorite and one of my favorite sets to date.

This year our friend Kayti Bunny invited us (PEX) to be apart of her camps (Sound Gardens) Welcome Home event on Sunday.  This event was to kick off Burning Man and set our intentions for the week to come and it was an absolute honor to be apart of. 

For this set I really wanted to go to my roots and celebrate what made me fall in love with electronic music.  Here you will find familiar sounds of dance music's past combined with the modern sounds of deep,driving progressive house and techno that will speak to generations of dance music fans.

This mix aired for Proton Radio's Featured Artist series on 01/04/23. It was made in the spirit of reflection, vision and intention that accompanies the new year. 

In creating this musical journey, I held buoyancy, intrigue, curiosity, and friendship up to the lens, selecting tracks with a vibe I find encouraging, playful, and sometimes intimate. This is journey for a walk in the woods or a beautiful train ride or road trip, cinematic and compelling. Music stays with me everywhere, and it's my soul work to create and share it with you.

@dj-shawna Shawna's passion for music began in early childhood attending the Winnipeg Music Folk Festival in Canada, where she was exposed to traditional music from around the globe that would have a profound influence on her sound. At the age of 16, she began her nomadic life hitchhiking through Mexico, supporting herself by carving found materials and seeds into jewelry. Next at the age of 18 came Thailand, where she learned to fire dance and tattoo, then India to follow her passion for Vipassana meditation, and eventually spending her early 20’s living in Germany and immersing herself in the various cultures of Europe In 1997. 

Shawna settled down in the SF/Bay Area where the burgeoning art of fire dancing landed her as a sought-after performer. Constructing her own performance costumes led to starting her own fashion line that became a trend-setting force in the transformational festival scene worldwide. In 1999, she began performing as a DJ, brewing eclectic fusions of global/future bass, dancehall, cumbia, moombahton, house, techno, disco, minimal, and tropical. She quickly became a favorite DJ on the west coast and beyond, performing at some of the most respected festivals including The BPM Festival, Miami Music Week, Amsterdam Dance Event, Lightning in a Bottle, Global Eclipse, Art With Me, Summit Series, Air Festival, Art Basel, Symbiosis Gathering, Shambhala, Wonderfruit, The Gardens Of Babylon, Subsonic, and Meadows in the Mountains. Additionally, she paved the way as one of the first female DJs at Burning Man back in the late 90’s and has since graced the decks of many legendary art cars including Robot Heart, Mayan Warrior, and Abraxis.

Always cross-pollinating through various scenes around the globe and pioneering the cutting edge sounds of the future, Shawna has proven herself as a multi-faceted artist that has left her mark and continues to push boundaries. Keep your eyes peeled for her psychedelic alter ego Fräulein Hofmann.

played a handful of impromptu and playa-magical sets on axo at burning man this year, and every song on this mix brings up memories of dancing, smiling, and hugging with our axo fam, along with other friends old and new.
travel delays, extra a/v work getting the art car ready for prime time, and the crazy weather prevented me from doing much other than improvising sets full of party bangers, which seems to have resulted in some fun being had.   maybe this is a "had to be there" kinda set, maybe it's fun anywhere.  well, heeerrree we goooooo!

IANN is no stranger to dance music. 

IANN’s love affair with house and techno began when he was Working at nightclubs in New York City in the early 2000's. There he developed a deep passion and respect for DJing and electronic music. That passion would later manifest into his DJ career.

Since making his debut IANN has earned respect from veteran taste makers with his style of deep, driving, melodic and sexy techno and progressive house. He is a go to for local support and has shared the stage with acts like Desert Hearts, Claptone, Jon Charnis, Khen, Tara Brooks, Joeski, Marques Wyatt, Teenage Mutants, Vanita and many more.  He is currently a producer and resident DJ for PEX which is one Philadelphia's biggest and longest running art and music collectives as well as holding residencies at Warehouse on Watts and The Barbary which are home to the underground house and techno scene in Philly.
