Although it hasn't been that long since the legendary Grand Wizard Theodore invented scratching and helped birth an entire genre in the process, it seems like the current generation is more concerned with fame and ratings than making timeless music. There's a reason why the teacher and student relationship has stood the test of time. It's a bond that has been throughly documented in texts such as Robert Greene's 'Mastery;' from 'The Odyssey' to 'The Karate Kid,' this dynamic has become commonplace in all art forms. Naturally, it would not take long for this relationship to find it's way into the world of Hip-Hop. If you've been listening to Hip-Hop for a while now, you'll come across some common tropes. Beyond the fashion trends and throwback rhymes, is seems like some of the best acts in the genre rely on the dynamic between deejay and emcee. From DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince, Eric B. and Rakim, Gang Starr and of course, Rahzel & DJ JS-1, these duos have forged a bond that makes the music that much better, but yet they also understand the roles that they each provide.
