So it's definitely a bit of a Journey as all my sets are.  I really hope you enjoy it.  Please feel free to share it as well. While working this last week I had a continuous playlist on YouTube automatically select the first couple LTJ Bukem's Progression Session mixes. Listening to those mixes again (after a really long time) totally brought me back to that mid to late 90s period when atmospheric (or "intelligent drum & bass" as it was known back then) was really cutting edge stuff. I have such fond memories of that period of time — going record shopping and playing my first big boy raves... Anyway, long story short, that spell of nostalgia made me go digging through my Rekordbox collection for suitable tunes to try to recreate that heady, spacey, blissful vibe on the stream this week, albeit with as current as possible tunes.

A large section of the first hour is all classic sounding atmospheric with that chunky drum programming. Some jazzy and funk-influenced bits thrown in there too... From there it moves into hour two with some drumfunk roller energy before slipping into "endless summer" liquid vibes featuring a nice section of classic amen rollers; some old, some new. I kept playing a bit longer again this week, since my boy Dough who usually follows me was still out of commission. Ended with some of my favorite deep soulful cuts. I had lots of fun playing this week. Big shouts to the LLL chat crew for keeping it lively!

Friday Throwdown (Progressive Classics) Live On CCR - 03.11.23

There's a lot to say about this mix. Lots of music friends, family and feel good jams all day. 

I never edit live dj mixes, but we happened to pop some breakers twice in the 2.5 hours that I was playing so I added a few effects to break up those parts... 

Had friends roll out from Ohio, Kentucky, Chicago, Milwaukee and all over for this one and the entire day was a vibe from start to finish. Even got to celebrate Aza's birthday. 

Not to mention the amazing mic work from the one and only Sean G who's not only one of my closest friends, but clearly the best hype man on the planet ;) 

And it was Father’s Day 🤷

Two of the heavy weight artists that took the breaks movement to the next level would have to be Rennie Pilgrem and BLIM. Rennie considered the godfather of breaks and BLIM with his own unique style as a producer. Both artists providing various anthems over the years and both pushing the sound of breaks to the masses. Where BLIM is these days i do not know but Rennie is back in the studio producing a new album during the lockdown and believe it or not he is releasing it on the legendary TCR Records.

This mix was recorded live at the Breakspoll Awards back in 2005 and it has Rennie & BLIM going back to back with also the vocal talents of MC Chickaboo.
