Desert Hearts co-founder Mikey Lion believes that house, techno, and love can change the world. And alongside Lee Reynolds, Marbs, and the rest of the Desert Hearts crew he is doing that one set and song at a time. His unrelenting positive energy and dusty sub thumping funky house beats have placed him not just at the center of the West Coast house movement, but at the pinnacle of a global movement. Realized during the pandemic Mikey helped usher the Desert Heart family into new territory by establishing an early presence on Twitch and turning the brand into a global force spreading positivity, good times, and proper beats to fans in every corner of the planet.

Gray Area's mission is to build a bigger house music community in North America by helping fans discover exciting house music artists, event brands and festivals that are new to them.

Mikey Lion - Exclusive Set for OCHO by Gray Area [2/2022]

“Purveyor of deep, infectious dance grooves and a feel-good atmosphere.”
That’s how Tyler describes himself as a DJ. Never afraid to go too deep, his emotive musical selections are his own therapy. Having grown up on his uncle’s eclectic combination of funk music (Stevie Wonder, Morris Day), European electronica (DepecheMode, Tangerine Dream), synth-infused 80s music (Depeche Mode, Gary Numan)… all which became infused with his own love for both hip-hop and electronic game music, Tyler ended up with quite a mixed spectrum of musical influence. Today, this translates into sets where he picks apart and infuses together all the pieces of this music that he loves best; beautiful synth work, ethereal backdrops, brooding basslines, and occasional vocal hooks… all on top of a pronounced foot-shuffling house beat.
A very active member in his local community, Tyler is no stranger to the ups-and-downs of the Toronto music scene. Though he loves playing in nightclubs and hosting special events, his love for music goes beyond the spectrum of mixing tunes. As a dj, producer, and promoter, he has found plenty of ways to express himself musically with his new promotional company Fused Entertainment.  Recently, Tyler has taken on a new venture with the launch of his first record label, Wiggle Room Records with his long time friend and Manager, Takin Nateghi. 
He got his start when he met friend and now Djing Partner, Christina Barroness at Club 120 who helped open the doors for his career. Today they can be found playing as +ONE (plus one) at their residency at Wiggle Room.

The next live set comes from one of my best homies, Lubelski. This year we had him play during the fashion show, kicking off our Saturday afternoon for the Desert Hearts block. 

Lubelski is one of my favorite producers right now and it really shows how much he grinds in the studio by how many of his own tunes he played in his set. The whole thing is super eclectic, fun, weird, and littered with modular goodness.

I had such a great time celebrating capital pride and supporting this fundraiser for Rainbow Brick Road - an Ottawa-based private refugee sponsorship group committed to raising funds and providing multifaceted supports in resettling a LGBTQ refugee couple from the Middle East to Canada.
