Detroit underground mainstay Waajeed is an inventive producer whose indefatigable head-down work ethic has resulted in a varied discography and an equally diverse global network of collaborators. An original member of rap group Slum Village, Waajeed progressed from DJ to beatmaker before co-founding Platinum Pied Pipers, a group who issued two highly regarded albums of forward-thinking R&B and hip-hop during the 2000s. Between those releases, he issued The War LP, a comparatively grim (if no less collaborative) solo project, and since then, he has favored house music with the albums From the Dirt LP (2018) and Memoirs of Hi-Tech Jazz (2022). The latter full-length was
issued on Berlin's revered Tresor label.

After a few years of playing "dance music" at Clevelands best clubs I finally found my sound and its thick with classics... ive always been a purist as well as an originalist in anything Ive done so when i started digging through 90's & early 2000's house tracks I settled right in and havent looked back.  My love for late 80's hip hop married perfectly with my love for classic house so it feels good to really have a sound that expresses who I am versus just slinging tracks.  I play the type of music I truly love and I also work with 3 people that share my love and enthusiasm for real house music at Groovehaus where we feature the best in underground house music djs at our monthly party.  Ive had the honor of opening for legends and icons alike through Groovehaus including Derrick Carter, Mark Farina, Dj Dan, Gene Hunt, Gene Farris, Heather and Collette and other huge acts like Golf Clap and Chuck Daniels!
