DJing is one of those things in my life where I find myself comparing myself to others, and often feeling like I fall short. It’s easy to get lost in comparisons and caught up in opinions. Then bom bom (bom bom dillim)… a series of beautiful people remind me that my light shines bright, and they celebrate when it burns instead of trying to extinguish it. Thank you so much for everyone that has supported and believed in me, you have no idea what a difference you make. Thank you for showing up, dancing, expressing gratitude, providing connections, and being present. Thank you to everyone who put my name out there this year and all of the beautiful folks that booked me for their events.  I love you! 

And an honourable shoutout and thank doodle for friends and muses like my dear Johnny Irwin (Civilian) who throughout my career and our friendship has constantly reminded me of my worth and that there is inherent value in being a SELEKTAH! Johnny, you are honestly so important to so many people and we are all so lucky to know you my dude! MY DUDE! Thanks to Kato (my roots) for your guidance and support when I was a fledgling, thanks to Nolan for the hours we’ve spent together digging for and playing tunes, and having the best times (and the most stressful times) throwing events and parties, thanks to Huw for always having my back and letting me make noise any time of day in his living room, and feeding me, and giving me hugs. Thanks to Hayley for your rad attitude and always encouraging me to just fucking send it, and thanks to Maggie for doing her best to always come to my shows… There are lots more people to thank, I am sooo lucky. 

DJing is a pretty multifaceted activity, and when it comes down to it, I do it as a form of expression, and to play music that I want to share with others, turbo bonus if people dance! A year and a half ago, That African approached Civillian with a challenge: to collaborate and create a “good” mix of current-era rap music. As long time purveyors of Golden-Era Hip-Hop™, they couldn’t ignore the infectious good vibe that exploded onto the dance floor when the DJ hit a stride in a set of good modern rap. As fans of quality hip-hop, they also couldn’t ignore how generic, corny, and generally bad a lot of it is.
Thus, they had their work cut out for them: to weed through the whack, and bring you only the finest of this new rap phenomenon.

Hi, I'm Dj Kung FUNK Panda. I'm from Slovakia, where I played as DJ Jürgen Schmidt   https://soundcloud.com/dj-jurgen-schmidt  but  currently I live  in the beautiful Austrian Tirol Alps. I'm a old school  DJ from the time when party tracks weighed 10 kilos and the best Mitsubishi wasn't a car. I think there was a great atmosphere in the clubs back then and I want to bring exactly that atmosphere to today's dance floor. Every DJ likes to mix a different style, I like to mix Nu Jazz, FUNK, Hip Hop, Breakbeat, House, Electro, Techno and Drum & Bass.
