Take a wild animal and trap it in a shape-shifting maze of beats: the jagged throb of industrial techno, the angular algorithms of Kraftwerk synths and the coy undulations of early disco.

This is the music of RND(), known also as San Francisco-based electronic music artist, DJ and producer David Gropper and Tokyo-based guitarist and synth wizard Rob Palazuelos.

RND() and associated projects (Flipform, Gropper and Ozaki, The Couchsurfers) have recorded a substantial music catalog over the last 15 years, spanning genres from deep house to progressive techno. The work has drawn attention and acclaim from a broad spectrum of the dance music community, including electronic music luminaries John Digweed, Paul Oakenfold, and Sasha, who featured RND()’s debut release "Ripples" on his website. 

Today, the music of RND() may be heard in clubs and found in the DJ boxes, CDs, and USB drives of artists and listeners around the world. RND() has also produced and released numerous music and remixes on labels including Looq Records, Toes in the Sand, Headrush, Imagimocean and Stripped Recordings. These tracks have been licensed by Paramount Pictures and other companies for use in television shows and independent films, as well as for inclusion on both domestic and international compilations, including the Gabriel and Dresden album “Bloom” (Nettwerk Records). 

David lives on a rocky island off the coast of San Francisco with an ever-growing collection of 10,000 vinyl records.
