Latam first played music at a party in 2004 in circumstances rather unexpected and unplanned. Back then he was almost entirely dedicated as a listener to goa psy-trance, being in love with this genre, and partially to progressive house/trance. After a few years of practicing, performing and learning about what DJing means, encouraged by things going constantly up, he decided to give up all other business and focus on music and mixing. Started to experiment and went gradually deeper into other sub-genres of electronica, playing as DJ Latam for some years in parallel psy, trance, techno, electro, house or chill-out, in various forms, before adding in 2011 a new alter ego called Blooni to his musical expressions, born from the interest in exploring more thoroughly the underground techno and house area; furthermore, since 2014 he has another avatar, Fractaliceanu, with whom he dives into the darker depths of psytrance.
His style is groovy, hypnotic, always psychedelic and can vary depending on the party profile, audience, location, line-up and hour of playing between a harder and a more deeper sound. He appreciates artists who manifest originality, innovate and have the courage to experiment, change themselves and inspire others.

Besides DJ-ing, Latam is involved in organizing and promoting events through Thrancians organization, plus Unda and Spacesheep associations, being a co-organizer of Waha and Rebirth festivals and partner of Dakini festival, which featured artists like Juno Reactor, Astral Projection, X-Dream, Astrix, Loud, Avalon, Dickster, Psykovsky, Parasense, Fungus Funk, Orestis, Ticon, Vibrasphere, Liquid Soul, Banco De Gaia, Shane Gobi, Kashyyyk, Atriohm, Arjuna & many more. He also hosted a weekly show called Oscillator on Radio Deea, the first romanian radio fully dedicated to electronic music.

The name of this mix and the way it progresses and evolves throughout as the music flow reflects my state of being over the past few months starting with the late autumn of 2017. One could say life is filled with ups and downs, i would say that the important thing is to keep exploring in order to grow. A good analogy would be surfing, sometimes you ride the wave, other times you're under the water, yet it's fun and challenging. 

It was also part of an application for Shankra Festival in Switzerland so the track selection was intended to be more melodic, but without having fixed idea the result was quite surprising for me too. Goes up, in the middle part changes the mood and takes new directions. Let it surprise you. BPM is 144.

Latam mixing at Inside Busteni, 11.05.2018 [145-146 BPM]

The DJ set from a party called Biocross at the infamous Cross Club in Prague Czech Republic, one of the most spectacular clubs in Europe with it's futuristic Mad Max look, March 21, 2018. When i got to the club the DJ before me was playing dark progressive and i had to pick up from there, so the whole set and the way it evolved and finished turned out to be a surprise even for me. Starts with a more industrial tech-trance sound, goes into psychedelic trance territory but with keeping a techy vibe, ends with a more organic twisted feel. Groovy :) If you like out of the box psytrance i think you will like this mix. BPM range is 139-146. Enjoy!

Latam mix at Waha Festival 2019 [143-147 BPM]

The DJ set from Trance Orient Express, a Dutch concept of psytrance parties with a long tradition, held at Ruigoord Church in Amsterdam, October 26, 2019. Ruigoord is a former village evacuated in the 60's by the municipality, which intended to extend its harbor, but the plans fell through. In 1972 the village was squatted by a group of artists who planned to make a colony there. As such it exists to this day, being legalized in the meantime. Now there are all kinds of events regularly organized in the formerly Roman Catholic village church, from poetry festivals to techno and psy parties of course through the connection to the hippie-goa trance movement.

This was my 2nd time i played there, both times we had a great party but this time i could better feel the energy of the place and people. The crowd was a rather diverse mixture of different styles, from old hippies that are a local specific, to the familiar goaheads and psyfreaks that i often see at psytrance parties, to young people probably freshly discovering this music, to mature adults that you expect to see in a movie theater, to street style looking small gangs, you name it. But all with one thing in common: the appetite to dance and have fun, putting into action the 'unity in diversity' saying, a concept that i really like. And there were a lot of true connoisseurs of the music, i can definitely say this from all the discussions and feedback i got. Not sure if it's the fact that Ruigoord has an old tradition of memorable parties, or maybe because it's an old church, or just Dutch people being so cool and social, probably a mixture of all this, but you gotta love Netherlands and Ruigoord.

First hour of the set is more groovy, 2nd goes more psychedelic. Latam mix at Ruigoord Church Amsterdam 26.10.2019

Was a memorable night, a festival organized in a hurry rather but which had an unexpected success for everyone. The concept was something new at that time, 9 scenes with almost all styles of electronic music, psy, techno, house, dnb, raggae, chill, etc. Around 5000 people attended, the Psy Stage being perhaps the most successful according to many opinions. Organized by Spacesheep, pioneer goa psytrance organization from which i was part of, placed in a hidden meadow, beautifully and colorfully decorated, surrounded and covered by trees on all sides. It was full non-stop while i was mixing, super energy on the dance floor. It's a special mix for me because it was during the period when i was taking a solid direction, crystallizing my own style that i felt it represents me well after a few years of experiments, and was probably the biggest event i played at up to then.

Latam mix at Iarmaroc Festival 2009 Psy Stage [145 BPM]

Romanian psychedelic trance DJ Latam first played music at a party in 2004, in unexpected and unplanned circumstances, going with the flow in a synchronistic situation. That was a Eureka moment which gave him a clear sense of purpose and a new direction in life. After a few years of practice and learning, encouraged by things going constantly up, he decided to give up any other business and fully commit to music as a way of living. Having a curious personality, he explored through the multitude sub-genres of electronica, for a while mixing in parallel psy, goa, progressive, techno, electro or house, in various forms. 

Now he is focusing on the groovy hypnotic side of psychedelic trance, with a versatile approach that can vary depending on the party profile, audience, location and hour, having the ability to chameleonically adapt and build bridges between different styles and tempos within the 130 to 150 BPM range. Sometimes you can also hear him playing ambient and downtempo in an eclectic chill fashion at the alternative stages. Additionally, he has an alter-ego called Fractaliceanu for faster darker psytrance, and another avatar, Melanj, with whom he ventures into deep techno territories.
