Thievery Corporation have grown very strong roots in the Rivera Maya over the years, but have never had a chance to play a liveshow in the area. DAY ZERO is proud to be presenting the first live show in Playa del Carmen with Thievery Corporation.   

"This is a mix of some of my favorite tripped out, orchestral, brazilian/latin, and cinematic music from the past, way before the current electronic music explosion. There’s many beautiful gems from all corners of the globe, these are the kinds of sounds that inspired Eric and myself when we started Thievery Corporation.  I hope you enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed making this mix. We look forward to seeing you in Mexico celebrating our galactic journey;) at Day Zero!

European heavyweights Fast Distance & Dimension combine their efforts to produce a magical 2 track E.P. which has already seen major support from Armin on his ASOT radio show.

Heaven Rain is first to take the stand with an epic, emotional and uplifting core, this really is something special from the potent duo. Having been sat on the shelf for sometime we enlisted Vast Vision to freshen things up and they did just that, enhancing the original theme with an idyllic rift.

El Mar is a standout composition which builds beautifully throughout before erupting into a crowning glory. Both artists show their individual influences with each providing their own interpretation.

A bona fide treat for uplifting trance enthusiasts across the globe!

I’m a music enthusiast. 

Music is the thing that will one day save us all, which is one of many reasons why I consider it to be important. 

Like most music enthusiasts, I used to hog people’s stereos and make them listen to what I wanted. Because of this, turning my hand to DJing in 1999 was, in retrospect, inevitable.

I started DJing on internet radio in March 2004 and on average, have put a new show online every six days or so since then. I haven’t counted exactly but I think it’s around a thousand by now.

I hate genre definitions (and go into a lot of detail on that here: https://lazarustrance.wordpress.com/2012/08/02/fifty-shades-of-blue-why-genre-does-not-matter/) but it’s fair to say that for the most part I play what’s called “trance.”

I have no interest in fame although I did once make it to 1222 in the DJ Mag chart. This is why I don’t have a logo or any kind of social media strategy.

Nowadays I have three ongoing shows:
     The Rebirth Session - These don’t broadcast anywhere but are (with occasional exceptions) my official demo mixes.
     Back From The Dead - This goes out monthly on Afterhours FM (every first Monday) and is a full-on uplifting/banging show.
     Rise Above - This goes out weekly on Discover Trance Radio (every Friday) and is the end result of me enjoying a mix at home over the previous weekend, whatever that may have turned out to be.
