Hey there music lover!

Every first Friday of the month we kickstart the weekend a tad early @ Sophias in Leeuwarden, mainly because we can ;). Longer sets are inevitable, and how I love having a go at those! 

As every music collector and DJ knows, Friday is also release day! Loads and loads of new bangers just waiting to be discovered, bought, downloaded, analysed, prepped and played. This May, after months of teasing, Sofi Tukker finally dropped their highly anticipated gem "Throw Some Ass". I was absolutely hooked from the first bit of lyrics: "Hey doctor... can you give me something stronger? I tried everything you offered, but I'm still in pain." Brilliant! Since this track is really explosive, bass-heavy and all-together a bit out of character for the trademark 'Sound of Sophias", I knew I had something to work towards, and it took me nearly 8 hours (an honest and full day's work indeed ;)) to get there, but I did! And my oh my... what a ride it was!!! I invite you to re-take the trip with me, and I can only hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did. 

Though, with many things considering music, it's best enjoyed live, so be sure to come and visit us this summer @ the City Garden of Sophias, Leeuwarden. I promise you won't regret it! Groovy vibes, delicious food, the best cocktails in town, and of course a top notch DJ team ;).

When you come across the obvious outlier in this set, please keep in mind: 30 minutes before I played that bittersweet love song, it just so happened that the voice and brain behind "Door de wind", Miss Montreal, strolled into our Bistro with a group of 20 friends... :O, and I made a silly decision whilst being a bit starstruck... :P

For LLout (Lammert Lettinga) from Amsterdam it has always been all about the music. Born and raised in a family with a passion for a wide variety of genres, it became an important part of his life from an early age. Shortly after electronic music caught his attention in the mid-00’s, he started DJ’ing and he has been doing so ever since. Feeling right at home behind the decks, he is often joined by FLEAUX. Together they are 'Riptide Soundsystem'. They produced a number of tracks with Tusk, and launched a series of dance events on boats, called 'Springtij' (Riptide in English).

For the past decade LLout has been perfecting his style and developed a great set of mixing skills. Because of his broad musical background, he has become an octopus when it comes to playing sets in different styles or combining several styles in one set. Twisting them into a whirlwind of disco, deep house, tech-house, techno and some completely off-genre surprises, to take you on a timeless journey through music.
