Prog In My Throat is a mix that means a lot to me, I mixed it over and over and waited until the progression of songs was perfect before I posted this up. The progressive/melodic tracks of today are starting to peak my interest and it's bringing me back to styles I used to play in my early DJ days so I had to pay homage to the sound. The last year I had lost four souls in my life that meant something to me. At the beginning of the year I had lost three friends all within a month or so, I didn't know how to process it and was shocked for some time. These friends were pivotal in my DJ/rave life and the emotions took a toll, and as I was also going through some health issues myself and trying to navigate those waters I knew I needed to take a step back from doing festivals last summer for the year, and only do local gigs and just slow down a bit. Speed forward to the end of the year and I lost my mother suddenly due to stage four cancer. When we had found out her diagnosis I kind of started the grieving process already and also for my other fallen friends and started working on this mix. I have been an emotional being and if you can't tell I put it into my mixes and the songs I collect. Naturally I just think a lil darker, a lil more pessimistic, darker songs resonate within my soul, and it's great for the dancefloor. When making this mix I teared up at times and got emotional, thinking of my lost friends and mom, but I also knew that this moody dark groovy mix would make them all so proud of me. If you've ever lost someone you know that sometimes listening to their favorite tunes, ones that remind you of them or just certain albums can really make you feel something. Music has always been that for me, it's the best way I can get out my pent up energy and put it into something creative and artistic like this. So Prog In My Throat is dedicated to my lost souls, of this year and previous. It's not just sad songs but a mix that evokes a feeling within me and I hope it does for someone else too. I hope you can appreciate it and the grooviness that this mix brought out. And if I can say one more thing, don't forget to tell the ones you care about that you love them before you can't anymore. <3

A passionate music lover turned performer, she brings years of dedication to both the community and the dancefloor. With deep roots in music through singing and instrumental performance, it was only natural that she would evolve into a powerhouse behind the decks.

Lyra’s sets are a journey through the rich textures of underground electronic music. From dark, chugging basslines and quirky kick patterns to whirring electro melodies, driving techno, bass-heavy rhythms, and cleverly placed vocal samples, she curates dynamic mixes that are as smart as they are dance-inducing. Her ability to blend genre-defying tracks with seamless energy makes every set unforgettable.

She’s shared the stage with some of the top names in the scene, opening for heavyweights like Colette, Marten Hørger, Nick Rockwell, Miz Megs, DJ Rap, DJ Dan, Chuck Love, Johnny Fiasco, and SNBRN. As one half of the tech house duo Tektric with Justincredible, Lyra continues to push sonic boundaries.

A longtime radio host and guest mix contributor, Lyra hosted the East Coast Vibes show on Sugar Shack Radio and more recently hosts livestreams on twitch every Thursday and has appeared on renowned platforms such as Harmsworth’s Feels Like Sunday, Jon Hart’s Reason 2 Funk, Monty Luke’s Wave of the Future on Scion AV, Girls On Decks, Ghetto Innit, Home Bass FM, Tribe Radio on d3ep.com, and Maritime Grime.

Her resume includes collaborations and performances with some of the region’s most respected crews and events, including Baseline, Zoo Crew Productions, Underdog Productions, Home Bass, Lighthouse Atlantic, Bass Bias, Future Forest Festival (where she also contributes to promotions), Kollektiv and  Classics.

Whether she’s igniting a packed festival stage or curating deep vibes at an intimate venue, DJ Lyra is a relentless advocate for Atlantic Canada’s underground electronic scene — and a guaranteed good time on the dancefloor.
