It had been a long time since the city had clamped down on nightlife activities; clubs had to shut their doors early and licenses were harder and harder to come by, but that just forced everything underground. Below the concrete, at night the city came alive with the throbbing pulse of sound systems and the frenetic colours of bright light. Those that wanted to be part of it would seek it out - escapism in this form would never truly disappear. After all, everybody knows that rules are there to be broken.

Once again, Berlin's Warning come correct with an EP from a new name on the block, JCow. Following split and collaborative EPs from the likes of DJ Swagger and LUZ1E and Giraffi Dog and Henry 3000, the label now let JCow take centre stage with a solo release that marks his first ever record. In true Warning style the four tracks offer up a palate of anthemic rave flavours, touching on elements of trance, breaks, acid and electro.

Label co-boss Pseudopolis touches down on Redstone Press for the third time. If you’ve heard the last two you know the drill.

Taking no prisoners from the outset, “High For Life” establishes the mood of the EP, combining unrelenting breaks, bouncing basslines and a big-room energy that acts like a pressure release after many nights making music with no clubs in sight, a track that doesn’t loosen its grip throughout.

“Euphoria Inc.” keeps the room at boiling point with Pseudopolis expertly fusing climatic rave energy, broken breakbeats and a murky Reece bassline into an equally euphoric yet foreboding warehouse tool.

“Haze Runner” continues with the ruffneck breaks but raises the bpms and dread level, sounding like something that would soundtrack your teenage weed psychosis or your current 6AMs spent in front of your favourite Jungle sound system’s bassbins. Speaking of bassbins…

We are delighted to welcome Eris Drew to the label under her new guise “Bassbin23”. Years of dancing, rejoicing and playing dusty warehouse raves have informed this rendition of “High for Life”, stripping it back to a fun filled 4x4 rave weapon. We couldn’t think of anyone better to do the first remix on the label, bigups to you Eris!

PREMIERE: Pseudopolis - Euphoria Inc (Redstone Press)

After United Identities' successful first vinyl release "Modern Intimacy Volume 1" in 2020, founder, DJ, producer and music curator Carista decided it was time for round two. Named after her debut mixtape, we are proud to present "Modern Intimacy Volume 2". This album is a blend between contemporary and futuristic sounds by 10 rising Dutch artists curated by the label head herself. The intention of the compilation is to nurture and showcase contemporary Dutch homegrown artists and the range of their craft; Breaking the boundaries of sound and genre as we know it, with a refusal to be categorized or caged in.

The album starts with the hopeful and soothing track "Whistle, accompanied by a saxophone and flute that gently guides you through the story of Brintex Collective. Then we are moving onwards to genre defying artist Phantom Wizard, who takes you from experimental synth jazz to an electronic dance riddim named "Awa". These two tracks serve as the perfect introduction and sets the tone of the label's versatile compilation. Followed by Thrills in +41 eerie, steady soundscaping drum patterns in "Strangelove64'', groovy bass heavy breaks that invite you to move your whole body to EYCEE's "Crunk", or to be enticed to a dark forest full of raving dancers with the dark but dreamy techno banger "Body On The Floor" by DutchAfro featuring vocals by Luka Eyrie. On the second half of the LP we are transported to an utopian dream reality in "On" by Sansouni with ethereal voices and sounds; Percussion and sample heavy "38A" by Conrad Soundsystem; The glitchy and dark "Personal Reality" by Mayo and shortly after we are taken on a journey through time and space by futuristic artist audt98 in "6 Identical Atoms". The compilation concludes with Acidic Male's "Zero Authority", shifting between cutting snares, alluring synths and poetic vocals.

Platform, music label and event series United Identities aims to nurture and hold space for local artists. As an extension of that care, Carista found it important to physically realize the efforts and legacy of the artists, by pressing their music on vinyl. Modern Intimacy Volume 2 showcases the harmonious, yet versatile musical approach of the label, as well as the artists that embody it. Keep an eye out on all of these artists, as they are destined for greatness.
