It’s time for a reversion excursion as four of Systematic boss Marc Romboy’s most distinctive 2015 cuts are shaken, stirred and slammed to smithereens by four of his most on-point peers. Get to know...

Dosem blasts the starter horn with a ravishing techno twist on Marc’s pensive sunrise charmer ‘Elgur’. Working around the spine-melting sensation of the original’s emotion-wrenching chord structure and breakdown, he injects it with a teeth-baring bass groove that chugs to create a turbo-charged remix that still retains all the beauty of the original.

Audiojack follow with a superlative remix swing: their take on ‘Byglia’ fuses naked hip-shaking beats with a lean-but-super-funky bassline. So few elements, so much fun... Especially when the original riff is deftly repurposed on two climactic occasions.

Deeper again we hit Alex Niggemann’s take on ‘Nasa’. Paying full respect to the original’s planet-aligning synthetic soul, Alex builds on the beauty by adding more shadows in the spaces and star-gazing cosmic overtones. Where the original took us into outer space and landed us gently back on planet earth, this leaves us hanging around a faraway nebula.

The fourth and final remix will ensure we stay in deep space too... The true techno dream team of Dubfire & Oliver Huntemann revisit their Elements project from a few years ago with a new series of killer remixes. Terra - originally released in 2011, did all sorts of damage to dance-floors across the globe. Now, it’s all set to do it again thanks to this Joseph Capriati Remix. The Italian techno headliner has grown into a major force on the scene in recent years, and here delivers a signature slice of muscular, driving techno - taut, dramatic and devastating. Paired with a remix of the now seminal Feugo Julien Jeweil’s remix also hits the spot - the track received a 2016 overhaul with some of Jeweil’s signature flair. The Frenchman has been a constant figure on the top of various charts and line ups for some time, and its easy to see why - Fuego is stripped back machine funk primed for big systems and even bigger moments.

From Another Mind, the techno party and label from southern Germany, is putting out a pair of remix EPs in February. 

Version 004.1 and Version 004.2 are made of reworks of material that From Another Mind bosses SHDW and Obscure Shape have released across three EPs since launching the label in 2015. The lineup of remixers includes some of the biggest names in the business. Rødhåd leads off the first set, which also features James Ruskin, Dax J and Shlømo. Meanwhile, the second EP opens with a joint rework from Tale Of Us and Mind Against, with Inland, Ryan James Ford and Konstantin Sibold contributing as well. 

Both EPs will come on vinyl and digital formats, with separate cover artwork that's designed to sit next to each other.

Diego Krause returns to his Unison Wax label later this week with his ‘Rituals’ EP. We’ve got the exclusive premiere of ‘Dysfunction’ from it above.

The Berliner took a year off from the imprint in 2016, concentrating on other projects and letting the label have a rest, but now he’s back with its first release of the new year.

Krause’s penchant for atmosphere is at the fore of ‘Dysfunction’, on a track that steadily builds into a heavy cut of pure darkside pressure at its very best.

Speaking about ‘Dysfunction’, Krause told DJ Mag, “When I produce club tracks like this one, I’m usually trying to channel a particular vibe I’ve experienced at a certain club or party.

“It’s mostly about those hazy early morning hours, when things can become more functional and repetitive. Although I have to add that I always like to add a subtle level of emotion to it.”
