Only a handful of years in, Mankiyan is already a sure favourite of the Belgian scene. Her mixes are full of depth, spatiality and intuition, spanning across heady dub, rave, UK bass and grime. Like a blossoming mind-fungus, the microtextual world of upsammy hums with the uncanny seepage of the organic. Effortlessly blending translucent tones and funky rhythms, the Amsterdam artist creates a natural groove that flows through different speeds of spatial vibes and dreamy soundscapes. Collaborating with visual artist Jonathan Castro in many of her live shows, they craft psyched-out landscapes, playing with contradictions of comfort and solitude. These are beautiful companion pieces to her ephemerally-hitting DJ sets, drawing from trippy experimental DnB and offbeat techno.

Alongside a head-spinning Recognise mix, he tells Christian Eede about his early days in the Italian freetekno rave scene, formative years in Bristol, and the global sound palette of his Ansia label’s latest compilation.

DJ and producer Yushh transports us to her formative years with the latest Off-Kilter submission. 

Featuring a collection of reflective tracks from 2008-2012, this collage is an insight into her delicate and emotive sound palette - intricate drum workouts, blissed out dub grooves, dream like vocals and emotive melodies phase through bass driven frequencies. 

Here, she tells a tale of what came before, a story of memory and influence, timeless and honest; it’s quintessentially Yushh in the rawest of forms.

In very loose terms, James K's (@jamesk_1 music operates at the fringes of the pop world. It is experimental and industrial, packed with hooks and riddled with dreamy textures that show off her mastery of synths. She has released it in album form with Dial and Incenso, dropped EPs on AD 93 and collaborated with the likes of Drew McDowall and Stefan Maie, and always manages to imbue her adventurous arrangements with real-world emotions and anxieties. This year she will join us at Dekmantel Festival but not before serving up this week's podcast.

It's the sort of rhythmically thrilling workout that has always stood James apart: jittery drum patterns and kinetic grooves that unfold at 100 miles an hour as a barrage of caustic motifs, hypnagogic melodies and hyper-real colours all bounce about the mix. There is an ever-present sense of tension in the way things are assembled - it's as if they might implode or explode at any minute, and it all sounds fantastically futuristic.
