Smokebreaks 2 || The Re-Fix

The Re-fix is our 2nd installment of the SmokeBreak series. The music on the Re-fix is centered around perspective. In visual art perspective distortion is a warping or transformation of an object and its surrounding area that differs significantly from what the object appears to be normally. In the case of music production a sample beat in itself can be viewed as a distorted version of an original record. This tape is full of re interpitations of orginal records and sounds that we feel are progressiing music production in the urban contemporary genre. The concept is seeing through others eyes to create art. For us the project has posed a question... How much as artists can we distort and explore?? and what does this exploration sound like??

Dear Bobby

Born and raised in Chicago, I grew up in a musical family, from my father being a drummer, to my older brothers spinning & giving me my first set of LP's, They both gave me the understanding at a early age what good music is.

As a kid I began spinning in 1989 and became quite an entrepreneur. In high school, I sold various mix tapes and spun mostly all school events and local parties .

In the years to follow I rocked countless parties, clubs & opened for major Hip Hop acts.

As the years went on my record collection began to grow to 10,000 Lp's and In 2006 I opened a record store called Revolver Records in Chicago.

I produced music and played multiple instruments for much of my life, I use skills honed as a DJ to create my own original joints.
