"Back in the Summer of 2001, I landed myself a residency at Bar BRB on Call Lane in Leeds that lasted just over 4 years. I would alternate playing in their bar area downstairs or their club area upstairs and every set would be 4 hours (either 6pm-10pm or 10pm-2am) and would be done 100% from vinyl (no CDJs in bars back then!).

I absolutely loved my time there and it really taught me a lot about how to play live, settle my own nerves and cope with technical problems - the practical side of DJing that you just don't get when practicing at home.

I recorded this set live on to MiniDisc (remember those!) from the upstairs club space where I started at 10pm and finished up at 2.30am. As this mix has just celebrated its 21st(!) birthday, I thought it was about time it got an upload here. I hope you enjoy it.”
