DJ Maya, a best-kept secret in the DJ game since 1995, is one of Brooklyn’s most celebrated turntable deejays. And since good things often come in small packages, the 5 foot tall, petite, and soft-spoken diva has been known to use the element of surprise to her advantage, rocking crowds with the larger-than-life sound of her turntable music, and upstaging countless competitors, male and female alike.

This musical prodigy taught herself to master the art of turntable science at a young age. In her teens, DJ Maya was introduced to The Almighty Goldstone Sound from Brooklyn, who primarily spun reggae and who influenced her music and entrepreneurial vision. Soon after, she became a major catalyst and in the formation of one of the earliest all-female sounds, Lady Stone, as well as the main ingredient in its sound and success. Lady Stone is not only remembered as a female sound, but also as an important page in the story of how Brooklyn’s reggae turntable movement evolved from “foundation” days to now. Fans will recall Lady Stone headlining landmark clubs such as Warehouse, Culture Club, Elite Ark, Club Large, just to name a few. When Lady Stone parted ways a few years later, Maya, who had become a turntable veteran both artistically & business-wise, saw the opportunity to prove herself as a solo Dj who could earn even greater success than before.

Maya carries the torch for females, for NY, and for hip hop/Caribbean music when she travels to other states and countries to Dj.

Maya has spun in more than 20 states, Guyana, South America (twice)competed in the largest California Dj Battle, Showed off her talent in Hamburg, Germany & Dj'd with a host of TV Celebrities and artists.

 At the turntables, DJ Maya is admired for her energy, accuracy, and consistency. With an intuitive sense of the crowd, sharp timing, and competitive taste in music and mixes, she has a knack for breathing life into parties and maintaining the hype. DJ Maya believes she is a success only if her fans are dancing or caught up in the vibe of her musical journey. Ricky Palmer, known to many as RICKY PLATINUM was born in Brooklyn, New York, but at a tender age, his Jamaican parents moved to Prince George’s County, Maryland. Ricky is the older of his two sisters. His father, Simeon Palmer, introduced Ricky to the art of music at the age of 4. 

Upon graduating high school, Ricky attended Prince George’s Community College, Music has been Ricky’s passion since his early childhood and he values it as his freedom of expression as well as a healthy escape, to the hard-inner city life that existed right outside his door.
Ricky began his musical career at the age of 17, when he was featured on his uncle’s Blacka Platinum Sound System, known as “Platinum Sound”. Ricky quickly proved himself as one of the sounds best-reviewed selectors. Shortly thereafter, the young selector adopted the stage name “Ricky Platinum.” 

In 2009, Ricky created a weekly event named, “Tipsy Wednesdays” (which has been newly named ALL STAR WEDNESDAYS) which created a buzz within the city and is now ranked as the DMV’s #1 weekly event. This themed- weekly event encourages and attracts audience participation by promoting creativity. Various international artists, DJ’s, local artist and dance groups are able to showcase their talents during this Wednesday night festivity.

Ricky’s extensive music library consists of Soul, Disco, Ska, Culture, Reggae/Dancehall, Soca, Rap, Hip-Hop, R&B, Go-Go and many more, has captured the attention of numerous promoters throughout the world. He specializes in ALL genres of music, which allows him to be classified as one of the most versatile selectors in the business, one that can be heard Every Friday on Ragashanti’s Tambourine Radio. 

He has entertained crowds at some of the most well-known clubs in the DMV such as: Fur Nightclub, Ibiza, Aqua, Lux Lounge, Ultra Bar, Bliss, Eden, Muse Lounge, Tattoo Bar, Layla Lounge, Crystal Lounge, Club Timheri’s and Crossroads Nightclub.

Ricky is now listed as one of the youngest most talented DJ’s in the D.C, Maryland & Virginia area. He has received the “Selector of The Year” Award in the DMV in 2010, 2011 and 2012. 

He was recently featured on FOX5DC for their #DJFridays Weekly Showcase, Baltimore’s Annual Jerk Fest, The Best of The Best Concert in Miami, Florida & British Link-Up in Florida, which features the most elite selectors in the Dancehall Community from the United Kingdom, the United States and Jamaica. 

His talents have granted him the opportunity of becoming an International DJ, receiving bookings throughout the United States, The United Kingdom & various Caribbean islands such as Jamaica, British Virgin Islands and the Bahamas.
