Originally from London, Maia Lee started her musical journey around 8 years ago, soon becoming well known for her groovy house and disco sets. As her career grew, her versatility and genre of music grew with her, and now she’s found in numerous clubs all around the world playing a wide range of genres from funk and soul, to disco, house and techno. However always honing in on her original sound and groove that she has become well known for.

After 8 years, Maia is now well established in London, residencies include Annabels Berkerly Square, Hovarda, Little Tape, Sumosan Twiga, Sexy Fish, Cirque le Soir, Charlie Berkely Street, Cuckoo, The Mandrake Hotel and the W Hotel, Brasserie of Light in Selfridges, The IVY.

Maia regularly travels and plays internationally, finding herself in Ibiza, Paris or Dubai most often. Recently becoming Ralph & Russos’s resident DJ, and in addition to playing for their shows and parties in London, Maia recently Dj’d for their S/S19 Haute Couture and Fashion Week shows in Paris at Silencio Club.

For the 87th episode of the B4Podcast, the iconic Berlin duo PAN-POT, deliver an imposing session of conceptual techno with classic and industrial sounds.

These 60 minutes are composed by innumerable sound layers, this set is all about intense bass-lines featuring techno music combined with industrial sounds, both insane and placid at the same time. The set unfolds warmly with twists in structure in which a breathing tension and a penetrating groove are the protagonists. 

Pan-Pot, aka Tassilo Ippenberger and Thomas Benedix, continue to feed the techno culture from their particular and special point of view. In addition to delivering the monthly 9 Essential Mix, Pan-Pot organice "Let's Play with DJs" on Twitch, while they keep working on the DIMA Virtual Reality project, as well as participating in streaming sessions, such as the one presented by Ritter Butzke at the Staatsoper Opera House in Berlin and Watergate's Worldwide Streaming Series. In parallel, Pan-Pot are set to release the Voodoo Signs EP this June, on their internationally recognized Second State label.

Music with ♥ // Winner MDR Sputnik Turntable Days DJ Contest 2003. After a break of almost 7 years, Michael Dietze got back on the decks in the summer of 2016. While he was known to everyone in the 90s and the first half of the 2000s as "Ditte", who made a name for himself with minimal / techno sets not only in Germany, he acquired another style in the Crewe club Molen_Dyk (2003-2006) . He managed to inspire people with Deephouse and Melodic Deep Tech. He has perfected that to this day. Like hardly anyone else, he is able to always incorporate that certain something into his sets. You can tell from the brilliant mixing and track selection that there are almost 30 years of experience behind the decks. He makes music with his heart for the hearts and souls that he captures with “age-appropriate techno”. In 2003 he deservedly won the MDR Sputnik Turntable Days DJ Contest in front of 49 other DJs.

Also a supremely technically gifted sound technician, Alex creates music for film and television and could never be accused of lacking excitement. Amplifying his skills on every level, he retains the essence of emotional communication that makes his work so engaging.

“People really feel like they’ve got an emotional connection to it,” he says. “I feel like every track that I write has to resonate with me on an emotional level. If I’m not connecting with it and it’s not evoking some kind of feeling in me then why should I expect the listener to feel that too? As we’re all made of the same kind of stuff as it’s resonating with me then hopefully it’s going resonate with other people who are listening to it as well.”

On Nov.12th, Alex piloted a cataclysm of new abrasive sounds with his EP ‘Tephra’, released on Max Cooper’s Mesh imprint. 

The ideas emerged from two months in the rugged, black volcanic surroundings of the Canary Islands, Spain. Banks armed himself with a restricted set of equipment taken from his studio in Brighton and set about focusing on the core of his musical expression.

The 5 track EP draws an abrasive array of intertwined melodic structures - one that could only be formed by an adept sound designers’ skillset. The title track and single ‘Tephra’, is woundingly brash, jagged and skull reverberating, it paints a mental landscape appropriate to where the tracks were born, in the context of a melodic hook line.

Following on from his second studio album, Beneath the Surface which was released on Mesh in 2019. Banks’ reimagines a different story, one of which was sculpted by his time witnessing unearthly volcanic landscapes. The change in scenery he recalls brought a welcomed ‘change of mindset’ than the earlier intense period of locking himself away in his Brighton studio with intermittent bursts of time spent by the coast to foster creative thought. It brought a different intensity to Banks’ sound, one that impressively finds a line between home listening and club-focussed dance-floor bangers.

“Any words I can provide to say how large this release is are a weak reflection of listening to the music. The first time I heard the tracks the energy was just oozing out of them into my torso, and that hook line in Tephra, it's something. It's so hard to make a melodic structure like that which is so simple and catchy while also being engaging after so many years of people trying to make simple and catchy hook lines. It's a fine art of big sound Alex is onto throughout, classic references, full human expression, no holding back, it's a beautiful thing to experience with a full frequency response system”.

Ich gebe mich meinem Tagträumen vollends hin und schwebe gefühlt eine Stunde über die Tanzflächen längst vergangener Nächte. Plötzlich reißt mich die Stimme meines Mitbewohners mit aller Härte zurück in die sogenannte Realität. 

"Fett, wa?" 

Fragend blicke ich in sein erwartungsvolles Grinsen. 
"Na, der neue Kopfüber Cast von Darwesh! So gemütlich, treibend, träumend!"

@darwesh51 ist schon seit langem mit Kopfüber verbunden. Unter seinem früheren Alias "Ivorie"  hat er zusammen mit Danger Dave, damals noch "Ambi", eine erste EP auf dem Keller Label mit dem wohlklingenden Namen "Castalia" veröffentlicht. Heute präsentiert er uns den neuen Kopfüber Cast in deepem, schnellem, technoidem Gewand. Und noch dazu steht das Release seiner Ep "Machine Mathematics" bei uns kurz bevor, inklusive Remix von @dangerrrave. 

Wer ganz genau hinhört, wird in diesem Cast schon einen ersten kleinen Höreindruck erhaschen können. 

In diesem vorfreudigen Sinne: Bleibt gesund, lasst euch nicht von Weihnachten oder einer blöden Pandemie die gute Laune verderben und genießt diese gemütlich treibend träumende Techno Interpretation von Darwesh!

Nach fast 7 Jahren Pause ist Micha 2017 wieder aktiv an die Decks gestiegen. In den 90ern hat das Urgestein der Leipziger Technoszene, als „Ditte“ nicht nur in Deutschland von sich reden gemacht. Er war Mitveranstalter der legendären EASTSIDE Partys (1993-2001) und leitete von 2003 bis 2006 den kleinen, sehr feinen Club Molendyk. Im Jahr 2003 gewann er völlig verdient den MDR Sputnik Turntable Days DJ Contest vor 49 weiteren DJ´s. Er beherrscht es wie kaum ein Zweiter, immer das gewisse Etwas in seine Sets einzubauen. Am brillanten Mixing und der Track-Auswahl erkennt man, dass da 30 Jahre Erfahrung hinter den Decks stehen. After a break of almost 7 years, Micha actively took to the decks again in 2017. In the 90s, the veteran of the Leipzig techno scene, “Ditte”, made a name for himself not only in Germany. He was co-organizer of the legendary EASTSIDE parties (1993-2001) and ran the small, very fine club Molendyk from 2003 to 2006. In 2003 he deservedly won the MDR Sputnik Turntable Days DJ Contest ahead of 49 other DJs. He knows how to always incorporate that certain something into his sets like no other. The brilliant mixing and track selection shows that there are 30 years of experience behind the decks. He makes music with the heart for the hearts and souls, which he captures with his “age-appropriate techno”.
