FunKamel is the musical project of Moti Landesman & Neria Orbach. The two mix a wide selection of ethnic music flavors, with a strong middle-eastern influence, layered on a variety of electronic styles.
FunKamel was formed in the underground scenes of Tel-Aviv and later on, they stepped out from the bubbling city to perform in many colorful gatherings in Israel and around the globe. From the vast deserts of Sinai to the crowded venues of Berlin and much more, Moti and Neria ride on their magic Kamel to displaying their Funky approach towards multi-cultural music around the world.
At the Beginning of 2019, Funkamel founded their record label 'Camel Riders Records' with Laroz aka Laroz Camel Rider. Together they have built a big family that showcases constantly a cutting-edge catalog of multiple delightful electronic genres, fused with traditional folk and organic music. Day 17 takes us back into my unfinished 2024 album era.

This track was written for Transmission Poland in 2023, and it has one of the craziest memories attached to it. The main melody and drop were changed literally 15 minutes before I left home for the train station to catch my train to Gdansk. That spontaneous version ended up being the one I played and the one that shaped this track’s identity.

Like many D19 pieces from that period, the album it belonged to never materialized, so the track stayed locked away.

But today it’s finally escaping the vault.

Most of the tracks on Spellbound were produced in my old basement studio in Brooklyn during the winter lockdown. I remember thinking a lot about freedom of choice, why I like music, and whether we live in a computer simulation or not (I know, I had a lot of time on my hands).
Now, while these thoughts didn't yield any answers, they sure seeped into this release.

The track Cinderella really is about perseverance against the odds. The prince turns his kingdom upside down, goes from door to door, looking for his love, trying to not break that glass slipper. That night with old Cindy must feel like a long gone dream, a fairy tale, unreal, yet he won't let go...or can't...or chooses not to. He keeps holding onto something that ain't real. A possibly endless enchantment without knowing whether the spell is good or bad. That prince would make a fine artist!

On Repeat deals with the kind of spell that leaves you powerless, but in a good way. A magic you surrender to, a trustworthy sorcery, and also a sexy bass line, if I may say so.

Spellbound, the title track, is actually a shower song - I sing under the shower, everyday, I cannot control it. It's like there are little tunes hidden within the white noise of the running water, and usually they go down the drain with it, never to leave the bathroom - not Spellbound though. That main melody was stuck in my head for days, couldn't wash it off. Very strong spell, beware!

With their 'Hypnos' EP, the Berliner duo Acado join the Kotori Tribe for a wonderfully wonky exploration of time and space, unlocking a transcendent state of hypnosis by way of two mesmerizing originals and a pair of contrasting remixes by Nhii and Timboletti.

Both the title-track 'Hypnos' and its sister cut 'Hera' are low-slung chuggers of the finest calibre. While Acado foster an out-of-body experience guided by deep dub chords and lopsided synths on the latter, their kalimba kiss and neon horn drama lure you into the epicenter of ecstasy on the former. On his masterful rework of 'Hypnos', New Yorker Nhii then ups the tempo and dynamic tension without losing sight of the original's spellbinding core. Meanwhile, Timboletti takes the opposite route on his entrancing 'Morgenglühen & Sektballet' version of 'Hera' – a true ode to that early-morning floor-feeling we all know so well and miss so dearly. With tracks like these, it remains tangible.
