The local theater was showing Purple Rain last weekend and I reached out to them to try and let me spin a set before the movie started.  I organized my songs just in case but alas I never got the OK.  So here's the set I prepped.  You'll note there's nothing from PR since I figured everyone was about to see the movie so they'd hear those tracks.

As ever with Prince tracks it ain't easy mixing.  He does't always give you a traditional 32 beat intro.  But whatevs. No excuses.  I did my best.  Enjoy

Last Dance Set For Norma And Bill

I spun for a charity event Casino Night last night.  No dance floor and no dancing expecting.  But I remembered something Jon Taffer said at Mobile Beat a few years ago.  He said (and I'm paraphrasing) "there is no such thing as background music.  There is lower volume music but no background music."  I channeled that philosophy and strived for a fun, sing alongable set and it worked.  Got tons of compliments and gave away a few cards as well.  This is a classic rock heavy set which played to the mostly baby boomer crowd.
