This is a recording of the music I played on Dec 26th 2014 at Coda in Toronto for the 10th annual Old School Boxing Day party.

I dropped many of the tunes from the late 90s / early 2000s that, to me, were THE biggest house music anthems of the time. Of course, with only an hour set I could only squeeze in so many tunes (I might just have to revisit this series a few more times to completely showcase my influences).

I realize that many house music veterans have heard these tunes a million times, but others from the new generation will be listening with fresh ears for the first time. Turn it up. Enjoy. These are my roots...

Ceri Evans brought a rare and refined musicality to the UK Garage scene when he launched Sunship in 1991. As a Jazz pianist and former member of The Brand New Heavies, his sound evolved from spirited Acid Jazz releases to chart-breaking (and award winning) tracks that encompassed everything wonderful about UKG. Easily one of the most prolific musical acts of the era,  Sunship has released dozens original productions and remixed at least 300 more; among them UKG classics "Cheque One-Two" and "Try Me Out," Misteeq's "All I Want" and Sweet Female Attitude's "Flowers" (both #2 in the UK) in a career that continues to this day.
