Radial - Move Out!

Composed this song for a class in college. It's about how small one feels looking up at the night sky - and tells a sort of narrative from the perspective of a roaming satellite who is exploring the cosmos.

Inspired by “In C”

1. Play A D-flat and or F repeatedly, at any speed, for any duration of time. Be generous with your usage of sustain pedal
2. The last note of this track should be a D-flat, held until its natural decay on your instrument of choice
3. Record a new track while listening to your first and play quick and slow notes of the following pitch classes: D-flat, E-flat, F, G-natural, A-flat, B-Flat, C (D-flat Lydian Scale). Any octave. Leave some room to think. When you are finished, release your note before the last D-flat from the first track sounds and wait for it to decay
5. With each new track, stop recording only after the previous track has finished
6. Record a third track and do something different. Consider using quartal harmonies, think Debussy but not as cool since you’re not Debussy. As before - allow the last D-flat from your first track to come through.
5. Repeat each day that you feel like, adding more and more layers on your instrument of choice
6. Don’t edit out any ambient noise including breathing, coughing, chair creaks, conversations in the background, bird calls, humming of fridges, outside traffic, air conditioning, or the like
