Last friday @fredfades was spinning at Roxy Club in Cologne together with his friend Chris from the Topic Drift record store. On saturday they played live at Dublab.de in Nippes, Cologne. Fred started off with some rare 7" soul records, went into some heavy deep house business, then he ended out his set with some rare boogie in the end.

Regarded as one of the most sought-after yet elusive albums from a pivotal era in Japanese jazz, Earth Mother was originally issued in 1978 on ALM, a private label home to some of the most innovative jazz, contemporary classical and free improvisational music released in Japan during the late 70s and early 80s. It was here that Earth Mother found a natural home among the experimental and transgressive, destined to remain in obscurity for decades until the album’s muscular, bass-driven title track was included as the opening cut on BBE’s acclaimed compilation J Jazz: Deep Modern Jazz From Japan 1969-1984. It was a fitting way to start such a landmark collection and the track quickly became a favourite among DJs and jazz fans.

Middle Name Dance Band is a three-piece collaboration between Sampology, Megan Christensen & Sam Stosuur on MPC, keys & bass.

Originally intended as a one-off EP project, the success of both Middle Name Dance Tracks Vol. 1 and the trio’s first live show saw further show requests plus national touring throughout 2019. Summer 2020, Middle Name Dance Band have so far performed at Laneway & Yonder Festivals.

This forthcoming EP broadens the dance tempos and grooves from Brazilian & house to mid-tempo boogie & slow jam, as heard on 'Weekend Love Chant', (released Oct 2019) which received support from Gilles Peterson (BBC 6) and was listed on PBS's Mike Gurrieri's top Australian tracks of the year.

To celebrate both Vol. 1 & 2 releases a limited edition ‘Lovers’ tee will be available via Bandcamp.
