Sander Kleinenberg 2.0



Whether it’s producing, remixing or dj’ing, Sander Kleinenberg has been building credibility on all fronts for over twenty-five years. He has established himself as an advocate of progress and most of all, a pivotal player on the frontier of electronic music. Starting out dj-ing at merely fifteen years old, a young Sander Kleinenberg was inspired by club music and hip-hop culture in the late eighties. This cultural shift inspired his own musical path, which in turn led to him traveling the world and spreading his sound along the way. Many awards, accolades and having performed all corners of the world later you could say it was destiny. 

Often mentioned when talking about the first wave of superstar dj’s from the progressive house wave around the turn of the century, Sander brought a mixture genres and styles to the table like never heard before. Quirky disco, psychedelia, Detroit techno, straight up soul and industrialism contributed greatly to the ever-evolving musical landscape in the ‘90s and 00’s. Sander’s eclectic persona and capability to always be two steps ahead of the rest have resulted in him being an award-winning dj and producer. As time passes by and his career unfolds, the pattern within it becomes more and more visible, Sander is a man on the move, always searching for the “perfect mix” in his own words. Sander’s relentless passion for perfection has kept him away from classification, putting hours upon hours into the enrichment of dj- and producer identity. Constantly twisting and shaping sounds. It’s this search for relevance in electronic musics development that keeps him re-inventing himself in every decade that has gone by since those early days. 

Today Sander looks back at his journey and thought it was time to make up the balance of all the corners of progress his career has taken him. You could call it a full circle type moment settling for nothing else but quality. If you are looking for someone who has searched high and low and has taken that into his current musical identity then Sander is your man. Like a fine wine matured into something wonderful.. Weaving generations, styles and a healthy eye on the future together in a relevant cocktail of musical maturity. In 2024 after a time of rejuvenation you can find Sander at a select number of dates around the world, revisiting his love for the clubs and countries that accompanied his journey along the way. He has a string of releases on the way marking his comeback to the dance floor both behind the decks and in the charts. It is time to once again rekindle his ability to bring levity and fun back to the dance floors.

Carlo and Nicola's first official release was the infamous remix for Riva Starr feat. Noze "I Was Drunk" released on Made to Play, was often found on playlists of djs like Crookers, Busy P, Annie Mac. Soon after follows they're first ep "Midnight Run" on Spiller's label Nano Rec, the ep was also supported by some of the best names of the electronic scene: Digitalism, Boys Noize, Benny Benassi, Lifelike, Stonebridge, Stylophonic just to mention a few. Their track "Moon" on Ego Music was one of Fatboys Slim's 2011 favourites. The new EP "Beard and Butter", that will be release on december 1st , 2011, has already received great feedback by Rodion, Ian Pooley, Malente, Boris Dlugosch, Claudio Coccoluto, Phonat, Riva Starr and many others.
The contrast between Carlo's shy personality and Nicola's esuberance reflects also on the eclectic behaviour of their dj sets, where music selections are aften accompained by unpredictable "performances".



The Nix Up is a weekly mix, featuring one hour of the latest Dance music from around the world. I have been producing these Nix Ups for over five years now, and the format of the show has changed dramatically since. It started off originally as a Top 10, and as I decided that a Top 10 format was perhaps not the most efficient way of covering all of the different genres of Dance music, it shifted into, at first, a two hour mix. The two hour mix has been currently compressed down to an one hour format, as I kept some of the better segments of the original show, keeping in mind that two hours was perhaps a little long.
As the Nix Up stands to this day, it is composed of a first section featuring more commercial Dance tracks,a second section known as the Top 3 and finally, a third section, a fifteen minute mix of minimal-tech House called The Blend.

The mix, which is of a purely promotional form, highlights tracks from genres such as Electro, Drum and Bass, House, Tech, Dubstep and more.

Safeword is the result of a decade-long friendship and a mutual love for music between San Francisco's Clint Stewart and Marc Smith. The duo has worked side by side on music for years, so the eventual pairing was inevitable. Although the two share a great deal of the same musical interests, its the differences that make it. Both Stewart and Smith bring an individual perspective to the studio, creating an incredibly diverse dynamic ranging from deep lush house to the heavier side of techno and all things in between. With their foundation laid in thick, heavy drums, lush melodies and hypnotic atmospherics, Safewords every cut, as well as their DJ and live set, is a pulsating, cerebral campaign, track-by-track leaving indelible marks on its listeners. Its the delicate interplay of pleasurable highs and dynamic lows that set this pair into their own realm of creation.

Look out for this up and coming Bristol dance duo. Frameworks AKA Josh North and JP Jacyshyn have come from vastly different musical backgrounds to produce a bass and synth orientated 'get and dance' style of music reminiscent of Bristol. All they need is a sad story of a struggling childhood and they'll be on their way to big things.
