Sooooooo back in 2011, I had the opportunity and fortunate privilege to play on the Listed Productions’ FREAKY TIKKI boat party with DANNY HOWELLS & CASSY in Miami during the Winter Music Conference/Ultra Music Festival, better named; “Miami Music Week”. You may ask yourself why it has taken me so long to release this mix… The unfortunate reason is that the file was on my G5 Desktop which bloody crashed the following week of Miami!!! Well earlier this year I finally took it to a specialist and recovered the file! 

It gives such joy to have this mix again! This party was so special to me, and everyone on that boat could tell you just how magical it really was. We started the party at 5:00 AM and carried on until noon. It was the perfect sunrise party! When listening to this mix, you’ll hear me startin’ it off nice and slow. This was because people were just docking... It was still dark. I then built it up into a lovely medley of house and techno perfect for a Miami sunrise :) 

Sooooooo now without further ado, and just in time for next week when I get to play with DANNY HOWELLS again @ The Endup for Listed’s monthly party; PLAY - I present to you my set from the Freaky Tikki.

This was recorded LIVE on Jack Wang and Jonathan Barnes' radio show on KZSU STANFORD RADIO 90.1 FM - Recorded live on August 5th 2013. It starts off with beautiful light-footed violins and vocals and I slowly build up and get carried away with everything from Acid House to Vocal Deep House, to throwin' down CLASSICS and just about everything in between... Hope you listen all the way through from beginning to end... This was my opening set for DANNY HOWELLS at the PLAY 1 Year Anniversary party at the legendary ENDUP in August 2013. This mix really does span so many genres between house and tech. I used to be cursed when it came to being recorded, always something not working out... Times like tagging w/ Burridge for 6 or 14 hours, and the recorder stopped, or my engineer fell asleep while recording, etc etc.. But the curse is OVAH! To be honest, I think it's the best set I've ever *recorded* IMO.  I humbly hope that you enjoy it as well! PEACE, LOVE & MUSIC my friends <3

This is the live recording from this year's SUNSET CAMPOUT at Belden Town. This wasn't just another gig for me. I take every performance seriously, however this one took a bit of extra preparation... I meditated, ate organic food the entire weekend, was sober until I got on stage (had a bit of whiskey on stage to calm the nerves ;) ...Basically I put a lot of love into it... This was the last 1.5 hours of my set; I jammed a lot of different sounds and genres before the club was closing, taking everyone on a eclectic journey.... ENJOY!

Making my return to the Playa for the sixth time held special meaning for me as it does every year. However I see Burning Man like lovers. You can't compare them, they're uniquely different experiences. And just like the complexity of lovers, my Burn was magical, beautiful, intense, emotional, intoxicating, lustful, serendipitous, mesmerizing, and yes, sometimes just a pain in the ass.

Still, after all these years, it's my favorite thing on the planet! Playing on the bus is beyond an honor. Sharing my music and reciprocating energy from that perspective with the open canvas and unparalleled conditions is an indescribable feeling. What I'm trying to say is, it all comes from the Heart.

art: Soup Flavored Blankets 

Soup Flavored Blankets creates a welcoming and interactive space dedicated to the chilly, wandering souls of deep playa. Within the walls of our cracker box, participants will experience a rag tag team of Burners providing delectable hot soups, steaming libations and cozy blankets equipped with a convenient soup/beverage pouch. Playa wanderlust exists within all of us and Soup Flavored Blankets is your rejuvenation station along the way.
We're a multifarious crew of friends from Los Angeles, Reno, Chicago and New York who share a passion for soup and service. The SFB story stems from a brief moment many, many years ago, far beyond Black Rock City's Esplanade, on a frigid deep playa evening. There, gazing at the brothtaking sky and discussing the soupernatural, sat our founder, Noodles and his brother, Max. Although initially vibrant and jovial, their topic of discussion soon shifted to the bitter cold air and a desire for simple pleasures.

"I could sure go for a blanket right now. You know, warm me up from the outside in." Max remarked as he shivered in the deepest of deep playa.

"I could go for a bowl of soup to warm me up from the inside out!" Noodles replied.
Now what followed may be the worst idea ever uttered as Max suggested: "How about a bowl of blanket flavored soup?"
In a harsh tone, Noodles replied: "That's sounds disgusting! Who want's to eat soup that tastes like blankets!?"
Hours passed and their situation worsened. But suddenly, a dusty thought shot out of the Man's neon head, blew across the playa, swirled around the temple walls and shot directly into Noodles's noggin as an idea of spectacular brilliance.
"Some Soup Flavored Blankets, now that would be warmly delicious!" He proclaimed.
Max agreed! And the two brothers jumped to their feet, crossed the cold desert floor and returned to camp to procrastinate for seven years.
As veteran burners we understand the significance of your trash fence quest and the sometimes difficult elements you encounter. Soup Flavored Blankets is a warm soupy refuge and our gift to the many wandering souls of Burning Man.

Select Cuts 132: LIVING

It was the last sunrise on our beloved Playa, and the morning of Temple Burn. It was also the most beautiful, absolutely surreal transformation of our moon and sun, upon the coldest night of the Burn. The energy, vibe, and temperature, quickly elevated, provided a state of bliss thanks to our all-giving sun! All these elements, along with the citizens of Black Rock City, who lift our spirits, reminded and reassured us that we’re surrounded by pure LOVE! The incredible and unique ART continues to inspire us, igniting our inner light, liberating us from our fears, and encouraging us all to be living our best lives. 

 For us, it’s an absolute pleasure and honor to be a part of such an incredible art project, broadening people’s imaginations and inspiring others to dream BIG! Reminding us of our purpose to prove the testament that MUSIC really is the answer.

Hey all, eye FINALLY successfully recorded a NEW SET for all of you to hear!! It's pretty bangnin'.... Basically to set the story up right, I had just heard Tenaglia and took my sister for her first DT experience in LA the night before... Hung out all day at the Standard, met the comedian Gallagher, kissed him (no joke), then FLEW on a massive drive 2 hours south of San Diego, near the Tecate Mexican boarder, got stuck in HELL-A traffic, and pulled up to this AMAZING invite-only festival with Adnan Sharif, Android Cartel, Mark Quark, and bunch of other GREAT DJs, finally got there 15 MINUTES before I had to play (as some would say in "true Nikita fashion", but mind you was not my fault - we're talking about SoCal traffic here)...Christian Martin was on the decks...I took some deep breathes, did a few yoga poses, centered myself (and was inspired because my sister just had her first DT experience AND we were jamming to live sets from CASSY the entire road trip!!!)....It's 2:00AM, the place is magical, the dancefloor is FULL OF ENERGY and BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE ----> THE BOMB DROPPING BEGAN!!! .......and here she is: http://soundcloud.com/djnikita/nikita-live-at-tropical-oasis

This was my promo for the 2009 Winter Music Conference - One of my personal favorite mixes ever. It was inspired by my good friends Kem OK and Lee Burridge during the winter of 2008 following Burning Man... I had so many special moments with the two of them during the time between BM and WMC where I ultimately became inspired more than ever. I named the mix after my friend Kem kept saying over and over - "That's well sexy" ---- Please enjoy my mix and understand that it all came from the heart.
