FutureDreams 04 Soundless

Nitin's contributions to the current house and techno landscape are undeniable whether through his role as a DJ, producer, organizer of the lauded The BPM Festival, or label manager of the famed No. 19 imprint. Originally hailing from London, Ontario, on the outskirts of Toronto, Nitin was weened on the likes of backyard stalwart John Acquaviva, while Detroit beats resonated and beckoned just down Highway 410.

Drawing on his many influences, Nitin ushers us to the grittier side of house for this Foxcast. An excursion into the techier and beloved classic sounds, it hypnotizes with gentle builds, steady repetition, grounded by driving bass undertones. They combine for aural magic, inducing a daze where the mind wanders and the body becomes a vassal to the rhythms on the floor. It is, fundamentally, what we love so much about Nitin: staying true to roots, drawing upon his many years living and working in all facets of the game, and with his distinct musical fingerprint. And then, at the end, Nitin takes us for a plunge into the reflection pool with an ambient groove before breaking to the surface with a classic to be reckoned with.

Born in Mexico and currently based in Barcelona, Miguel Puente made himself a name with releases on Hot Waves and Art Department's No. 19 Music.

For his OFF-debut he presents 2 diverse originals:

"Small Proposition" is all about its catchy and bold vocal sample and a massive bassline, a track that will go down very well with pop-loving DJs.

"Lil Freakyness" has similar ingredients, but uses them in a sleazier and darker manner, making it the weapon of choice for your next afterhour-set.

Mat.Joe deliver their first remix for OFF, turning Small Proposition into a more groove-based affair which builds towards a big central break.

With over two decades of experience in the house and techno industry, Canadian artist Nitin Kalyan has established himself as a highly skilled and polished DJ on the global touring circuit.  His story begins with Detroit, as the sounds of the Motor City emanated through his radio growing up in London, Ontario, which left an indelible imprint and inspired him to pursue a career in music.  Record shopping in Detroit led to a meeting with Mike Huckaby and Nitin subsequently playing the legendary club Shelter at the age of 17.

From throwing parties in his hometown, to relocating to Toronto in 2005, Nitin bolstered his DJ skills with regular gigs and became a prominent promoter in both London and Toronto.  Shortly after, he was not only touring across much of North America, but also began making visits to Europe, and now plays frequently at some of the globe’s most legendary clubs, including DC-10 (Ibiza), Panorama Bar (Berlin), Fabric (London, UK), Output (NYC), Warung (Brazil), Stereo (Montreal) and Nordstern (Basel).

Along with his dynamic DJ sets, Nitin also runs the highly regarded record labels No. 19 and Social Experiment with Art Department’s Jonny White.  The labels are renowned for their forward thinking, avant-garde takes on house and techno, signing music from both established artists as well as nurturing new talent.  As a producer, Detroit’s influence remains present in Nitin’s sound, with some of his recent original productions and remixes coming out on My Favorite Robot, Leftroom, and of course, his own imprint No.19.
