FLAX (she/her)
genrefluid trip: experimental, breaks, weird beats

FLAX is a Weimar-based DJ, sound artist, and cultural manager with a diverse background in various music scenes and subcultures. She started her journey as a DJ with the foundation of the network Metaware Weimar in 2019 and has since worked in various roles, including concept artist, music teacher, event manager, booker, and sound artist. Her style is described as "genrefluid trips" that blend different genres and sounds.

FLAX is currently pursuing musicology and cultural management studies at the music university Weimar, where she researches the field of "music and well-being," the history of electronic music & sound art, and the intersection of "music & gender" in club culture. She is also committed to inspiring and empowering young FLINTA* people through workshops.

FLAX is working on the production of her debut album project and has been teaching at the Bauhaus University Weimar since 2022 to further her research.

"What always drives me is my love for music. It's not the world that's unfair, it's the people who don't know any other perspectives. I will tirelessly play demanding and progressive sound on the stages I stand on because that's what drives me - curiosity, love for sound, and a desire to experiment. New spaces, sound scapes, whatever and diverse perspectives are realities of life, realities(!) and I want to hear and see them for real. <<Julez combines honest beats and stimulating melodic parts to an energetic-spherical mood.  Their set is arranged on the Techno-Trance spectrum and definitely stimulates to move with sporty 150 BPM upwards.

Julez is part of @hyperlovecollective, next to @glitterbaexoxo , @slaymira and @djasstits . The four-member FlINTA*-DJ collective wants to serve as an empowering institution and connector in the queer cologne music scene - always ready to claim space in club culture and enter the stages with their genre-blending ass-shake tracks!>>

Together with our friends from Tranceportsoundsystems and MUCHA we hosted a Rave Against Repression at Autonomes Zentrum Köln.  Due to constant repression by state authorities and the persecution of the civil press against antifacists we showed solidarity by creating this event and donating the earnings of the night to Autonomes Zentrum itself, as well as „Ermittlungsausschuss Köln“, „Rote Hilfe Köln Leverkusen e.V.“ and one particular person being in an unjustified lawsuit.  Antifascism was, is and always will be necessary and no crime!
